I just found out that if I specify a lower number of VFs (0-37), then it
works, but only on one interface. Anything more, and it doesn't show

(especially unmute) don't work well anymore – a problem actually addressed in
xfce4-volumed by prioritizing pulseaudio over

settings"-button of indicator sound in the Xubuntu session. The argument for
pavucontrol over xfce4-mixer is already made in the above-mentioned bugreport,

time.
