[Bug 997402] Re: Buying software is impossible
Today when I opened my mail, I had a bunch of mails about my purchases. All the purchases had furthermore appeared in the section of the Software Center where you can reinstall previous purchases (I'm not sure of the English title, as my system is Danish). This means that I can install all the things, but I still find it annoying that it didn't just work. I'd say importance of this one is low or medium, unless a lot of users are affected. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/997402 Title: Buying software is impossible To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+bug/997402/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 992468] Re: network print : no possible with 12.04
This is how I solved problem of printing to windows network printer. Step 1: Ensure bi-directional support is not enabled on windows shared printer. Step 2: Open terminal and type: system-config-printer Step 3: Add network printer via samba. Make sure you set windows username and password. Re: [Bug 991179] Re: 7.0.24 computation error bug
On 05/10/2012 06:19 AM, Thomas Ward wrote: 7.0.26 isn't in Debian, so I'd have to poke around with the MOTUs to get that into Quantal, if not take the source and repackage it for quantal- proposed. Once Locutus can confirm whether or not 7.0.27 builds in Quantal, I'll go poke the MOTUs. I should point out, though, that since 7.0.26 is not packaged in Debian, they may not accept it, that's their decision. 7.0.27 is now in unstable. Just, the problem appearing with Ubuntu is not appearing on my machine, and if I am not erroneous then I had that patch in the version that was uploaded. Yes, it is in: dpkg-source: info: applying MoreInformativeAppStartFailure.patch as seen from the build logs. This was a bit stupid of mine, but I had not believed in the issue to be located in there at the time. What I can offer is to have yet another version uploaded to that does not have that patch included. I just saw that BOINC has an issue with gcc 4.7, so I need to address that anyway: https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=boinc This you can then adopt directly for Precise. Would that be acceptable? If 7.0.27 will build in Quantal, this will save some time and effort. If it does not, then I'll take a look at Locutus' package of 7.0.26, and talk to the MOTUs to see if we can get that into Quantal (I'll do the uploading if necessary), and then see if we can't SRU that into Precise. The version currently shipping with Ubuntu has issues with NVidia cards with 2GB of memory. Since those cards will become increasingly popular, I strongly suggest to move away from 7.0.24. [Bug 997531] [NEW] doc boot issues: raid10 boot device will not boot when degrade; metadata 0.90 is required; bios_grub is required for GPT
Public bug reported: https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/serverguide/advanced-installation.html The above page is missing three very important details. 1. /boot must be raid1, since it is apparently the only way to successfully boot degraded. I tested raid10, which boots until you pull any disk, and then you get either a black screen, or: error: no such disk. grub rescue So my solution was to have a separate boot raid device that is raid1, while the root system is raid10. Separate raid10s has the same problem (I had them separated already due to the metadata 0.90 not supporting large disks). 2. Tt should mention that metadata 0.90 is required on the boot raid device. I am fairly sure the installer did not do this. And from command line I fixed it by backing up the files, destroying and recreating with: mdadm --create -e 0.90 ... 3. With a GPT partition, the installer happily continues without a bios_grub partition, which is very wrong. Manually run, the grub-install command line will produce errors and break the boot, but these don't make it to the installer for the user to see, and the system will still boot until grub-install is run. (This is a documentation problem, and also an installer software bug) My system details: lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Release:12.04 mdadm 3.2.3-2ubuntu1 grub-install 1.99-21ubuntu3 Linux 3.2.0-23-generic ** Affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/997531 Title: doc boot issues: raid10 boot device will not boot when degrade; metadata 0.90 is required; bios_grub is required for GPT To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-docs/+bug/997531/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

To test it, just schedule a wake event like above as root, then do a regular shutdown/suspend. [Bug 902557] Re: Wireless not working in 12.04 for rtl8192ce (RTL8188CE)
My Girlfriend also has a x121e with the same problems, so I replaced her WLAN card. For those wanting to do the same: The trick is to plug the card into the spare mini PCIe slot and not the WLAN card slot. This way the BIOS will not complain about unsuproted hardware. The spare slot is meant for a WWAN/UMTS card, but the WLAN antenna cables reach it just fine. It is really simple to do its just 3 screws for the panel and one for the card, plus the antenna plugs. I bought a Intel Centrino Advanced - N 6200 card (half lenght PCIe) for about 20€ and it works perfectly. Though I recomend using a full lenght PCI express card as thats what the slot is made for (I had to fix mine with tape, which is a lot mare stable than it sounds). (Sorry if this is of topic for a bug report, but I thought it might help some people.) [Bug 997429] Re: kernel bug: Asking for daa cache failed
Thomas Majewski, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. ** Description changed: - This is related to and should be linked to bug 795626 - - Christopher, this is the apport report.
