my father & I have the same problem, both using the 64Bit-Version of
Xubuntu 12.04: Scrolling via mousewheel doesn't work in Abiword, but in
any other application tested. I tried this function in Xubuntu 11.04

So I too compiled 1.4.8 and it resolved my issues.
However when starting synergyc at the lightdm greeter the problem
persists where pressing ctrl, shift, alt will cause a disconnect

Found a work-around:
Back in KDE, I used the system settings tool to change the toolkit used
by GTK+ apps from Oxygen-gtk to Raleigh. That has stopped the crashing
problem, and is a reasonable workaround from my point of view. For
googlers, that setting is in Application appearance/GTK+ appearance
Fix is still good with ubuntu14.

Sound is not playing for HTML 5 pages loaded from localhost (local
Apache2) on Firefox 12.0 running on 12.04 Pangolin. The same pages work
correctly when loaded from a remote server. Also, the pages work
correctly when loaded from localhost using Opera 11.64.

ok, now I followed the advice seen somewhere else: givin nouveau a try:
works great for ubuntu 2D and even Alien Arena is working! Good enough
for me so far! I would even more apreciate putting more effort into
nouveau support for ubuntu 3D than fixing this bug!

Thanks for the workaround, however on ** Xubuntu ** it doesn't work for
me, as gconf-editor is not there and if I install it, the key does not
exist :-(

Running claws in gdb gave aspell as the last thing that it touched
before crashing. Disabling aspell in the claws config didn't help
though. running in gdb and trying to get a backtrace resulted in 'no
stack' - that was using --sync --debug and 'break gdk_x_error' so not
sure what's happening there
Extra comment: the keyboard does not response at all, when I'm typing to
decrypt the harddisk. No response at all. Nothing happens.

keyboard combo also makes use of the Logitech Unifying Receiver, but the
keyboard and the mouse work perfectly when I'm at the login screen of
Ubuntu.
