that's right. Since downgrading g-s-d, alone, fixed the problem.
I've retitled the bug and re-opened it so that we refer to it in Debian
and make it auto-closed when the fixed package is pulled in Ubuntu.

Is there any chance of a backport for 10.04?
I am working on a headless machine that should automatically connect to a
server on the first available network interface. Resolvconf seems like the
right tool for the job but as mentioned here it is broken for anything but
12.04.

Tkabber has a built-in plugin which enables spellchecking of input in
chat windows. This plugin is not enabled by default and so no presence
of ispell is required. You seem to somehow manage to enable this plugin
while not having ispell installed, so just disable this plugin back or
install ispel
