I tested the latest 12.10 as live CD. The apport-collect messages are
from it.
Sadly, the problem stays.
I assume to test different kernels I have to install 12.10, I couldn't do it

When opening a file with LibreOffice, e.g. text file, in Ubuntu 12.10, quite
often the main menu on the top bar doesn't appear at the right sight of the

Unity does not load after installing fglrx
I confirm that clean up /var/lib/dpkg/status fixed the issue.
As I do not know right way to do so: I opened the file ans saved with
gedit:
sudo gedit /var/lib/dpkg/status
gedit warned me couple of time that I could corupt the file, but actualy
it fixed me software-properties-gtk.

Personally I don't need a backport as that machine will be upgraded to Quantal.
I included the other keystrokes for completeness of testing because often
fixing one thing can break others. I'll submit a separate bug for the Fn+F9

After starting, CPU spikes up to ~60% and stays there for around 20

When you give the installation a second run all should be fine.
You can also verify the download of the Ubuntu cd itself by checksum.
(The extension downthemall for firefox do this automatically).

Looking at the asx of the second link that gives a 8 second video with
static text, a site that doesn't stream anything (that's an asf that
references itself) and a link to a JPG that 404s. So maybe it would be
best to get in contact with the site's operator.

Yes, it is the same version I used to generate the module.
I don't see anything special in your make.log. It's very similar to the
one generated by my computer. There are no errors. The compilation
process looks fine, but however it doesn't seem to find the binary after
the process...

but it is not acceptable to use a beta install cd/dvd one day after
final of Ubuntu 12.10 is released.
The pulse problem you see above is known and AFAIK fixed for the final
release.
