[Bug 960661] Re: [color]: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in gcm_prefs_device_changed_cb()

2012-12-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

(there is a similar report on similar bug on
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=870661 which indicates the
issue is not distro specific)

2012-12-13 Thread Narinder Gupta
can not run the apport-collect on the machine as machine is not on the
network. And proxys are not allowing me to run the same successfully.
there is no crash in the package or utility so i don't think apport will
collect any useful information from the system.

[Bug 1090035] [NEW] moving thunderbird between desktops does not redraw on new desktop

2012-12-13 Thread Dave Chiluk
Public bug reported:

Holding shift+ctrl+alt to move thunderbird to a new desktop does not
repaint thunderbird after having moved to the new desktop.

Clicking on the thunderbird icon in the unity dash does not cause a
repaint of thunderbird. Only moving to another desktop, and back again
will cause thunderbird to draw.

Other applications do not seem to be affected *(nautilus, chrome,
terminal, etc...).

[Bug 1089693] Re: QRT failed at test-kernel-security, test_096_proc_entries_unreadable

2012-12-13 Thread Steve Beattie
This is actually a kernel regression caused by the disabling of the
SLUB_DEBUG config option in ubuntu kernel commit
c28f49fd37b32bbc88b86a6ff01aeb28948c7aaa (thanks to Kees for the commit
reference). Dropping this breaks the slabtop(1) utility.

Marking invalid as a QRT bug and moving over to the kernel.

[Bug 1090019] Re: Problème d'import PDF

2012-12-13 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
cab...@free.fr, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
Natty reached EOL on October 28, 2012.
Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

We were wondering if this is still an issue in a supported release? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect 1090019

As well, we noticed that some of the sentences in this bug report are
not in English. If they were translated to English they would be more
understandable to triagers. Could you please translate them?

[Bug 1089768] Re: Marvell Sata controller and AMD-Vi problems

2012-12-13 Thread Robert Cicconetti
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

This bug is to confirm that the Marvell 88SE9128 chipset bug presents
under AMD's IOMMU implementation as well as Intel's VT-D. I've tested
this with a Syba SD-PEX40035 and a Highpoint Rocket 620 (both use the
same Marvell chipset) PCIe card, under both the stock Quantal kernel and
the 3.7.0rc8 kernel from the mainline kernel PPA. It sounds like the
preferred solution is PCI quirk, and some of the infrastructure is in
place, but it hasn't been implemented yet. Symptoms consist of a much
longer boot process, and failure to identify any devices attached to the
  Marvell controllers.

WORKAROUND: Works fine as long as I disable the IOMMU in the BIOS.

My system consists of an AMD A10-5800K in a Gigabyte GA-F2A85X-D3H
motherboard, 5x Seagate 1.5 TB drives in software Raid5, 4x Seagate 3 TB
drives in a native ZFS raidz (not yet used), a Sata BD-ROM, and a 500 GB
  sata drive (not yet used).

  https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42679
  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=757166

pci 02:00.1 is the IDE endpoint, but there are no PATA devices in the
system, which matches the behavior of the other chips (emitting DMA
operations from the wrong PCI endpoint, which the IOMMU rejects.)

Thanks, confirming the issue with gtk 3.6.0 but it works with the raring

[Bug 969860] Re: fglrx uses 100% CPU when screen turns off (spinning in glXWaitVideoSyncSGI or glXSwapBuffers)

2012-12-13 Thread Kellen Hawley
I can confirm Forage's comment: Ubuntu 12.10 Gnome Remix does not have this
problem.
I switched from Ubuntu 12.10 to the Gnome Remix and the problem seemed to solve
itself. And I will note that I am running the exact same
drivers/programs/extensions that I was when I was experiencing the problem.

[Bug 1090040] [NEW] mediawiki 1.19.3 fixes security vulnerability (CVE-2012-5391)

2012-12-13 Thread Jeremy Bicha
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/mediawiki-
announce/2012-November/000122.html

* During an internal review, it was discovered that MediaWiki core is
vulnerable to session fixation attacks. Successful exploitation could
allow an attacker to compromise another user's account. This issue
has been assigned CVE-2012-5391.
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40995

* Wikipedia user PleaseStand discovered that a PCRE backtrack limit
could easily be exceeded, causing recent changes and history pages to
fail to display. Since these pages are often used for fighting spam
and vandalism, public wikis are encouraged to update.

  2) Not applicable.

the backlight britgthness of the notebook's screen. It was working fine until
then.
The notebook is a Samsung N150.
It does not work using the slider in the System Configuration menu, and
neither with the FN keys. With the FN keys shows a popup as if the computer
were detecting the input, but the backlight brigthnnes does not change.
By the way, with the FN key I am able to change the brigthness while Ubuntu

What's interesting is the bisect up to commit

to not contain the bug.

Can you retest the mainline kernel built up to commit 37ed56 again? I rebuilt

[Bug 1090042] [NEW] Desktop icons are not visible when using an external display (12.04 + Unity)

2012-12-13 Thread psny18
Public bug reported:

The problem still allows functionality. I have 12.04 on a T61
Thinkpad. The indicator/menu bar is rendered correctly on both screens
and everything with unity/dash is fine.

With an extended monitor display, the right-click feature Organize
Desktop by Name puts the icons on the Desktop is off to the top of the
laptop screen. See this screenshot: http://i.stack.imgur.com/m25EX.jpg

In the screenshot I've shared a terminal window that has lists the
desktop files/folders.

My desktop settings are here: http://i.imgur.com/5e9yQ.png

(Not sure if it matters, but the same thing happens with VGA connection
between the external monitor and the laptop, as well as with the docking
station and with both VGA and DVI.)

I have asked at askubuntu.com for this issue and have not had any
answers: http://askubuntu.com/questions/211518/laptop-monitor-is-cut-

[Bug 1058388] Re: Ubuntu 12.10 Beta 2 multi-monitor support is broken beyond beleif

2012-12-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report, the bug is not easy to deal with because
the description describe several issues accross several components

Tthe main problem [1] seems to be compiz's windows placement though ,
reassigning there though I'm not sure if it wouldn't be better to open
different bugs about the different issues

[1] it turned out, all my windows were moved to second screen
(projector, which was just plugged in, but not turned on), which can be
seen on screenshot Screen05. Expo view also gave me nothing (Screen06,
photograph), but screenshot of Expo view shows that there are windows

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 876831] Re: Ibus input switching doesn't work when switching to Japanese.

2012-12-13 Thread sanmiguel9
Samething here on Ubuntu 12.04, ibus 1.4.1
The ibus-indicator in the panel cannot be used to change input methods with the
mouse. However, (Ctrl + Space) to toggle ibus on/off and (Shift_left + Alt) to
cycle through different input-methods works reliably. The only use of the
ibus-indicator so far is the changing icon to identify which input-method is
activated.

Originally, the device was working very well with the brcmsmac free module. Now
it is working with the wl restricted (unnecessary) module, provided by the

[Bug 1056334] Re: sound capplet segfaults in gvc_mixer_control_lookup_device_from_stream()

2012-12-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Do you still get the issue? Could you install libglib2.0-0-dbg and get a
new stacktrace? It would also useful if you could do:

- gdb gnome-control-center

(gdb) run sound

... you should hit the bug and gdb should stop

then type frame 6

(or whatever number correspond to that code line: #6 0x7fffc8cfc49a
in gvc_mixer_control_lookup_device_from_stream
(control=control@entry=0x55af2690,
stream=stream@entry=0x559e3570) at gvc-mixer-control.c:229)

then type print *device

[Bug 1090053] [NEW] e4defrag -c /mountpoint does not provide expected output

2012-12-13 Thread Steve Sauls
Public bug reported:

According to the man page this is the expected output below.

OPTIONS
-c Get a current fragmentation count and an ideal fragmentation
count, and calculate fragmentation score based on them. By see‐
ing this score, we can determine whether we should execute
e4defrag to target. When used with -v option, the current frag‐
mentation count and the ideal fragmentation count are printed
  for each file.

Also this option outputs the average data size in one extent. If
you see it, you'll find the file has ideal extents or not. Note
that the maximum extent size is 131072KB in ext4 filesystem (if
  block size is 4KB).

If this option is specified, target is never defragmented.

I am attaching a screenshot of my output which is not what I expected.
This may not be a bug but it is not very informational.

[Bug 1090050] [NEW] Using access_provider = ldap causes failed loading of backend

2012-12-13 Thread TerrySoucy
Public bug reported:

Adding the following to sssd.conf results in the sssd backend failing to
initialize...

access_provider = ldap
ldap_access_filter =
memberOf=cn=engineering,cn=groups,cn=accounts,dc=internal,dc=blah,dc=com

Contents of logfile ...

[sssd[be[LDAP]]] [load_backend_module] (0): Unable to load init fn
sssm_ldap_access_init from module ldap, error: /usr/lib/sssd/libsss_ldap.so:
undefined symbol: sssm_ldap_access_init
[sssd[be[LDAP]]] [be_process_init] (0): Failed to setup ACCESS backend.
[sssd[be[LDAP]]] [main] (0): Could not initialize backend [80]

The message is a known issue with SSSD version 1 and was apparently deemed to
be a simple warning and was fixed, but I get no further in the startup, and
sssd hangs at this point. Removal of the supported access provider option
results in a working system.

Hi,

Can you please attach:
 - /var/log/syslog
 - /var/log/udev

 - output of ifconfig -a
 - /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules

That last file may be the source of some of your problems. Once you're done

[Bug 1084325] Re: Gwibber's Facebook receive operation fails

2012-12-13 Thread Ruben Rocha
After some searching the problem is related to the facebook api and how
gwibber works with facebook. I think the Ubuntu facebook app limit has
been reached. Same thing happened and is happening in previous versions
of ubuntu with gwibber because the Gwibber facebook app limit has been
reached.

The solution is to create a new app token on facebook, change the code
on gwibber facebook service and it will work for some time until the
limit is reached again.

[Bug 795765] Re: CDs won't resume playing after being paused

2012-12-13 Thread Matthieu Baerts
It seems that with the latest version, we are able to play a song from a
CD and put the music on hold (pause). Then we can restart the song but
only from the beginning.

[Bug 1090050] Re: Using access_provider = ldap causes failed loading of backend

2012-12-13 Thread Stephen Gallagher
The LDAP access_provider option wasn't added in SSSD until 1.2.0.

The versions of SSSD still supported by upstream are:

1.5.x: Security fixes only, LTM
1.8.x: Fully supported, LTM
1.9.x Fully supported.

You're not going to see a major feature like this backported to 1.0.x
ever.
