I can confirm Forage's comment: Ubuntu 12.10 Gnome Remix does not have this
problem.
I switched from Ubuntu 12.10 to the Gnome Remix and the problem seemed to solve
itself. And I will note that I am running the exact same
drivers/programs/extensions that I was when I was experiencing the

have debconf not explode in a fiery ball of errors when something else
has the database locked.

mouse. However, (Ctrl + Space) to toggle ibus on/off and (Shift_left + Alt) to

It seems that with the latest version, we are able to play a song from a
CD and put the music on hold (pause). Then we can restart the song but
only from the beginning.

Since a couple of days, the scroll wheel (event?) stopped to work in
canvas element (zoom in and zoom out).
It works well in Firefox stable and in other web browsers.

ProblemType:
The LDAP access_provider option wasn't added in SSSD until 1.2.0.
The versions of SSSD still supported by upstream are:
1.5.x: Security fixes only, LTM
1.8.x: Fully supported, LTM
1.9.x Fully supported.
You're not going to see a major feature like this backported to 1.0.x
ever.
