Do we need to to appear as Installed Apps or More suggestions from
the USC feed?
In the case of Installed Apps we need to ship an extra desktop file with
the webapps packages (the ones already existing). At the moment, the
desktop files are being generated at runtime by us. This is needed
because

You crash is due to mixing incompatible (kipi-plugin related ) binaries
from different repos, which has nothing to do with this issue.

I was also getting the low graphics mode problem when using Ubuntu
12.02.2 with Virtualbox. I've tested the updated libpciaccess package
with Virtualbox in two ways:
1) I installed the package into a live session running on Virtualbox.
2) I built the package into a custom Live image which I ran
I know a lot of discussion right now is leaning towards dual-boot/multiple
partion disks. Just pointing out that I'm experiencing the error on a
desktop with a single HDD with only one OS.

I had the same problem in Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit, even installing skype
from repositories than downloading the package from Skype officiale
site.
I solved (it seems) with the suggestion from Diego Gaviola, disabling
skype to handle Pulse Audio Mixer.
