[Bug 1169030] Re: CVE 2013-1915: local files disclosure or resource exhaustion via XML External Entity attack
Ok, here's a patch with the fix for CVE-2012-2751 rolled in. I kind of made up the DEP-3 fields, but I think they'll at least satisfy their purpose. I've tested that the resulting packages with this patch work at at least a basic level, but I still don't have POCs to test with or anything. ** Patch added: libapache-mod-security_2.5.11-1ubuntu0.1.debdiff https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/modsecurity-apache/+bug/1169030/+attachment/3645690/+files/libapache-mod-security_2.5.11-1ubuntu0.1.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1169030 Title: CVE 2013-1915: local files disclosure or resource exhaustion via XML External Entity attack To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libapache-mod-security/+bug/1169030/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1169634] [NEW] Please upgrade to the (bugfix only) version 2.2.1 for Raring Ringtail
Public bug reported: There is a new version of Mnemosyne which does not introduce any new features but only fixes known issues. I'd suggest to upgrade the package in Raring Ringtail to this version even though there is not much time left until the release date of Raring. Some quotations from Peter Bienstman, the Mnemosyne developer: - 2.2.1 should hopefully be the bug-freeest (is that a word?) release yet! (2013/04/15) - In case you might wondering what the big planned features for the next release will be, the answer is ... nothing! Indeed, there is a whole slew of minor bug reports that are still unadressed, and now that the major features are in and the major bugs are out, it seems like a good time to iron out some wrinkles. Re: [Bug 1169604] [NEW] set permission to og+rx on working directory to allow test execution by any user
Jean-Baptiste Lallement writes ([Bug 1169604] [NEW] set permission to og+rx on working directory to allow test execution by any user): Public bug reported: adt-run creates a working directory with mktemp in /tmp/ e.g /tmp/tmp.XX which is set to the default permissions u+rwx. [Bug 1169649] [NEW] Xorg freeze after installing nvidia-319
Public bug reported: gnome-shell was supposed to start, instead I get static image of my desktop background. Typing gnome-shell in virtual terminal gives some GLX error and using optirun works somewhat but it lists a lot of warnings every time I perform any actions. Installing nvidia-319 does something to graphics settings. nvidia-313 doesn't do this and removing nvidia completely causes no problems. $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu Raring Ringtail (development branch) Release:13.04 $ apt-cache policy xorg xorg: Installed: 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 Candidate: 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 Version table: *** 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-18.28-generic 3.8.6 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-18-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia .proc.driver.nvidia.gpus.0: Error: [Errno 21] Is a directory: '/proc/driver/nvidia/gpus/0' .proc.driver.nvidia.registry: Binary: .proc.driver.nvidia.version: NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 319.12 Wed Apr 3 15:43:51 PDT 2013 GCC version: gcc version 4.7.3 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.7.3-1ubuntu1) ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: None Date: Tue Apr 16 18:07:57 2013 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: raring DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: bbswitch, 0.6, 3.8.0-18-generic, x86_64: installed nvidia-319, 319.12, 3.8.0-18-generic, x86_64: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, if not too technical GpuHangFrequency: Very infrequently GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [8086:0166] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Toshiba America Info Systems Device [1179:fb01] NVIDIA Corporation GF108M [GeForce GT 630M] [10de:0de9] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Toshiba America Info Systems Device [1179:fb01] InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-04-13 (3 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-GNOME 13.04 Raring Ringtail - Alpha amd64 (20130411) MachineType: TOSHIBA SATELLITE P850 MarkForUpload: True ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.8.0-18-generic root=UUID=7a1fb1fd-ec11-424a-847e-78e1ba878767 ro quiet splash SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display Title: Xorg freeze UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 09/21/2012 dmi.bios.vendor: TOSHIBA dmi.bios.version: 6.40 dmi.board.asset.tag: * dmi.board.name: QFKAA dmi.board.vendor: TOSHIBA dmi.board.version: 1.00 dmi.chassis.asset.tag: * dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: TOSHIBA dmi.chassis.version: * dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnTOSHIBA:bvr6.40:bd09/21/2012:svnTOSHIBA:pnSATELLITEP850:pvrPSPKBE-02400LN5:rvnTOSHIBA:rnQFKAA:rvr1.00:cvnTOSHIBA:ct10:cvr*: dmi.product.name: SATELLITE P850 dmi.product.version: PSPKBE-02400LN5 dmi.sys.vendor: TOSHIBA version.compiz: compiz N/A version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.43+git20130404.b7bb9e92-0ubuntu0ricotz version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 9.2.0~git20130404+9.1.980f84c3-0ubuntu0ricotz version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 9.2.0~git20130404+9.1.980f84c3-0ubuntu0ricotz version.nvidia-graphics-drivers: nvidia-graphics-drivers N/A version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.13.3-0ubuntu5 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.7.3-0ubuntu2b2 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:7.1.99+git20130315.3e5350be-0ubuntu0sarvatt version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.21.6-0ubuntu3 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.7-0ubuntu1 xserver.bootTime: Tue Apr 16 17:57:59 2013 xserver.configfile: /etc/X11/xorg.conf xserver.errors: Failed to initialize GLX extension (Compatible NVIDIA X driver not found) xserver.logfile: /var/log/Xorg.0.log xserver.version: 2:1.13.3-0ubuntu5 xserver.video_driver: intel ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug freeze gnome3-ppa raring third-party-packages ubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1169649 Title: Xorg freeze after installing nvidia-319 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1169649/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. [Bug 1169679] [NEW] Make images first-class citizens.
Public bug reported: So, we currently support Flickr and it looks like Instagram will be landing early during the S cycle. These two protocols are both primarily image-sharing sites, and friends-app handles this a little bit goofily, displaying the image caption but requiring a click in order to even see the thumbnail. i think the layout should be changed so that image thumbnails are always displayed (even when the message details are collapsed), and it should probably be arranged at the top of the message, with the caption beneath it. It would be harmlessly hidden for messages that don't have thumbnails, but it would make flickr, instagram, and facebook links look a bit more attractive. (we should also look into using larger thumbnails / scaling them so they take the whole width of the column, that would be really sexy) ** Affects: friends-app (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Assignee: Ken VanDine (ken-vandine) Status: Triaged ** Changed in: friends-app (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: friends-app (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Ken VanDine (ken-vandine) ** Changed in: friends-app (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1169679 Title: Make images first-class citizens. [Bug 1169677] [NEW] bzip2recover (v.1.0.6) creates wrong headers (of rec* files)
Public bug reported: I found a bug in bzip2recover 1.0.6. Assume you have a huge (2 GB) perfect myfile.bz2. Using bzip2recover myfile.bz2 gives rec1myfile.bz2 (and more files rec*.bz2). The fourth Header Byte is always wrong, see below! It seems to have low effect, but confused me understandig the file-format, while writing a tool for 'healing' bad downloaded huge bz2-files. The 4th byte in header wrong, for sure. [Bug 927515] Re: Thunderbird stuck at 100% CPU
I can confirm the same behavior on Ubuntu 12.10, with encrypted home directory, running Thunderbird 17.05. Thunderbird constantly using 50-100% cpu, for hours at a time, only occasionally dropping below 50%. Creating new profiles, deleting various sqlite files, index files, etc does not fix the problem. However - since others have ointed out that this seems to be eCryptFS related - I can confirm that moving my thunderbird profile to an unencrypted directory outside of my home directory seems to solve or at least greatly reduce the severity of the problem. [Bug 1084851] Re: No system-wide proxy for automatic proxy setting method
Of that I'm not really certain. I filed this report because as a user the behaviour surprised me that some things would be able to access the network and others wouldn't. Having dug into the problem a little it's apparent that it's not trivial to solve - that doesn't mean that it's not worth solving, though. Perhaps Ubuntu could integrate the PACRunner project[1], or something similar, and teach the various network dependant tools to talk to that rather than relying on environment variables? Or perhaps the tools can be taught to use libproxy[2]? At the very least maybe we should alert the user that the automatic settings will result in various things, such as software installation, possibly not working. I suppose which resolution is chosen depends on how much of a priority seamless networking on proxied connections is for Ubuntu and the engineers involved. 1. http://git.kernel.org/cgit/network/connman/pacrunner.git 2. https://code.google.com/p/libproxy/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1084851 Title: No system-wide proxy for automatic proxy setting method To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1084851/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
