You can try Ubuntu 13.04 if you want to check if PulseAudio 3.0 addresses the problem (I'm not actually sure). I'd recommend downgrading to PulseAudio 1.1 instead, but I am not sure if that is even possible. Otherwise, there is probably not much to do, other than wait for the next LTS release.
