I've been trying unsuccessfully to install Ubuntu on my new laptop for
about 3 months now.
When I try to boot Ubuntu (both UEFI and BIOS -legacy- modes) it always
stays on a black screen.
Booting with nomodeset option allows me to get to console pressing
Ctrl+Alt+F1. I
Please find attached the result. The usb driver is sdb and for a test
today I tried ti install fedora but it did not solve the problem. On
another machine, bios efi with bios legacy enabled I have been able to
boot from the usb 3.0. So I'm suspecting a bios limitation of my
notebook HP DV6

After reset the unity according to #8 hud is working. But some
application is not responding. Basically those application which move
their menu into right side. As an example nautilus , document viewer

Hi Christopher,
thanks for your help. I had visited the HP download site. The enhancements of
3.14 were a more reliable flash process - so I didn't install it at first. But
to be on the safe side, I did now.
After finishing the flash process, I could not observe any changes. Same
behaviour as

I'm trying to debug a python application (exaile) that uses python-
webkit, but can't, because python-dbg won't load the webkit extension.
I'm not sure, but it looks to me like this might be due to not having a
debug version of python-webkit. Sadly, the ubuntu repositories

I also wonder who is in charge nowadays of such crucial areas as language
support in Ubuntu (GNOME, Linux in general). Just for the heck of it, for I
don't think these people are capable of remedying what they've destroyed.
Simply because they know nothing of what

plug in only the problematic USB device, immediately place the following in a
terminal and attach the results:

Invalid Time Value
I'm seeing the same bug as well, I've also noticed if I change the font
type and font size from preferences, font type and size of the context
menu also changes. I've attached a screenshot showing the bug.
