while I don't think it *should* affect the s-i-dbus daemon, it might

I had the same problem under chromium only, with hdmi output in flash and html5
videos (it would work fine in FIrefox).

I thought that if I prevent BOINC to touch to X until it's ready,
everything would work. But it doesn't seem to work.
However, maybe that same piece of code (see attachment) could be used to
restart BOINC after X is ready? Ideas?

I removed 3 elements from 4/25/13 UBUNTU update that disabled email icon on top
of screen.
I continue to get error message during boot up that unable to load insight
firmware.
