I don't really get what is happening to you guys... I used to see this
bug, but not anymore since at least 13.10. I'm using eclipse on a daily
basis with no problem (with egit and a clovergui plugin based on GEF). I
just upgraded to Luna (4.4.0), and things work just fine.

does not have permission to remove some file and then crashing the
installer. It fails earlier if I try to create new partiotions on the
destination USB-stick.

After some digging, I've found the packages in question in
/var/lib/aptitude/pkgstates - all with state 3.
Some some strange reason, aptitude recorded these packages there, even I never

Another problem I encountered with this easy workaround is that my wireless
usb frequently disconnects and needs to be restarted (I made a little script to
restart network-manager when I can not ping the gateway).
