[Bug 1264103] Re: Debian-installer is outdated

2015-01-29 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Triaged/Wishlist: we're at debian-installer 20101020ubuntu362 by now in
vivid; which would mean a *very* large and extremely complicated merge
if one was to embark on that journey.

For the time being, it's better to leave it alone. If you have specific
features in mind, please file a separate bug and it can be investigated
separately.

Thanks!

[Bug 1416259] [NEW] Fails to boot on Lenovo G70

2015-01-29 Thread Sami Laine
Public bug reported:

A Lenovo G70 laptop working perfectly fine with linux-
image-3.13.0-35-generic fails to boot with linux-image-3.13.0-43-generic

[Bug 1109259] Re: netboot no fallback to manual net config

2015-01-29 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
What kind of setup are you using? I would half-expect that for a netboot
install, given that it requires the network in the first place, it
should still be available to be used.

Is it possible if you go to another VT during the install that the
ethernet devices have changed order, and that if you were to bring up
eth1 (for example) rather than eth0 then you could get on with DHCP?

[Bug 1412873] Re: Ubuntu 14.10 sometimes does not suspend

2015-01-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Stanislav Kukla, the next step is to fully commit bisect from kernel
3.2.60 to 3.2.66 in order to identify the last good kernel commit,
followed immediately by the first bad one. This will allow for a more
expedited analysis of the root cause of your issue. Could you please do
this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ?

Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit
bisecting.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1015507] Re: 64 bit Ubuntu CD images contains unneeded grub2 modules (eg. bsd.mod or xnu.mod) in /boot/grub/x86_64-efi/

Marking as Won't Fix.

I don't especially want to change this since there could be users who
would want to dual-boot freebsd or something else. As Colin pointed out,
these files are small enough to be irrelevant when having to make
feature vs. size decisions.

[Bug 1414778] Re: Click and draw of certain links results in double mouse pointer

2015-01-29 Thread mark
This appears to potentially be the same bug as
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1393169.

As mentioned there, I have the same problem in Utopic AMD64 with MATE
1.8.1; this began immediately on my upgrade from Trusty to Utopic and
continues to the present. I have a double mouse pointer appear
intermittently during web browsing (Firefos 35.0.1), often when click-
dragging a link to open in new tab, and then it persists. Although two
pointers are visible only the left pointer is active. If I log out and
back in, the single mouse pointer is restored.

This is a Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P with the latest BIOS, and I am fully
updated on Utopic AMD64 with no broken packages etc.

[Bug 1202795] Re: Preseed install detects intel nic as something other than eth0

2015-01-29 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
This would be what is done by the biosdevname package:
Description-en: apply BIOS-given names to network devices
biosdevname in its simplest form takes a kernel device name
as an argument, and returns the BIOS-given name it should be.
 .
This is necessary on systems where the BIOS name for a given device
(e.g. the label on the chassis is Gb1) doesn't map directly and
obviously to the kernel name (e.g. eth0).
 .
This also works as a straight udev rule, which is provided.
 .
 Home Page: http://linux.dell.com/biosdevname/

It seems to me like this should really only be a cosmetic difference and not
adversely affect the installation, even in the case of preseeds. Is it possible
that eth0 is hardcoded somewhere in the preseed? Could you please attach your
preseed file, after making sure it doesn't contain sensitive information like
passwords?

Thanks!

[Bug 1413443] Re: Touchpad HP Pavilion not working

2015-01-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Samaneri Vimala, just to advise, you don't need to apport-collect
further unless specifically asked.

Despite this, the issue you are reporting is an upstream one. Could you
please report this problem to the appropriate mailing list (linux-input)
by following the instructions verbatim at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/kernel ?

Please provide a direct URL to your e-mail to the mailing list once you
have made it so that it may be tracked via http://vger.kernel.org/vger-
lists.html . It can take a day for the new e-mail to show up in the
respective archive.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1202300] Re: All of the net install images are named mini.iso

2015-01-29 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Triaged/Wishlist. This looks fairly straightforward, one change this by
editing configuration, however it would quickly become redundant in the
archive where the path to the files already encode architecture and
release.

[Bug 1416238] Re: USB randomly stops working on Kubuntu 12.04

2015-01-29 Thread rdbert
Oops, my mistake, I forgotten to take a copy of the related dmesg log, and I
rebooted. Some lines that are worth looking at, are these lines:
Jan 29 19:37:18 tyf-S551LN kernel: [24979.506831] usb usb2: root hub lost power
or was reset
Jan 29 19:37:18 tyf-S551LN kernel: [24979.506833] usb usb3: root hub lost power
or was reset

I will run the apport-collect command now.

Thanks!

[Bug 956618]

2015-01-29 Thread Bugzilla2007
(In reply to Magnus Melin from comment #82)
This should be pretty straight forward to fix, now that bug 970456 is fixed.
You'd just adjust the scoring there to be higher if it's a match in nickname.

Suyash, could you try this? It's pretty important to offer a 100%
predictable way of using autocomplete shortcuts... Magnus has
volunteered to mentor this ;)

[Bug 956618]

2015-01-29 Thread St7ve
I have submitted a new bug 1127258 which describes a new problem when
selecting an address in TB31 (31.4); that's two addressing problems
introduced with this version of TB which result in emails going to the
wong person unless one takes special care.

[Bug 528798] Re: Firefox menus unresposive, output Usage:program_name [address][:port]

2015-01-29 Thread Robert Jansen
This problem is years old now . It was reported in 2010. It took three (3)
whole years before it got 'confirmed'. Now that was more than a year ago. Is
their any chance of this being 'solved' or 'diagnosed' or something promising
like that in the years to come ? Or is to remain 'confirmed' forever.
In the meantime rebooting crappy Ubuntu Linux machines multiple times a day
because that is the only temporary 'solution' to this 'confirmed' problem.

The problem is not caused by /etc/hosts nor by addons nor an old
profile. Even with a fresh install of Firefox and a completely new
profile without addons the problem persists. The problem occurs on
Xubuntu 12.04. ( I'm back on 12.04 and skipping 14.04 because of the
huge number of bugs and problemes in that release ).

I used to actually promote Ubuntu and Linux. Can't really remember why
actually, the reason must be buried under a the accumulated mountain of
frustration.

[Bug 1246583] Re: All hotkeys of LibreOffice don't work in non-English keyboard layout [ubuntu 13.10]

2015-01-29 Thread Hanan Sela
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1226962 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1226962

In ubuntu 14.04 libreoffice 4.2.7.2 I have removed libreoffice-gnome and
libreoffice-gkt packges and it have solved the problem. Now when i use
Hebrew layout the kaybord shrtcuts are working. My problem before this
removal was only within libreoffice applications so i think this bug is
not a duplicate of bug #1226962
