[Bug 1421734] [NEW] [needs-packaging] yuyo-gtk-theme

2015-02-13 Thread Martin Wimpress
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu MATE is an Ubuntu derivative that provides the MATE desktop
environment. MATE is the continuation of GNOME2.

Ubuntu MATE has been given the green light by the Ubuntu Technical Board
and Canonical IS have confirmed sufficient storage is available to host
the Ubuntu MATE images. As a prerequisite to integrating Ubuntu MATE
into the official build infrastructure some Ubuntu MATE packages
(currently hosted in a PPA) need to be uploaded to the official Ubuntu
archive.

Daniel Holbach has informed me that Ubuntu is now in feature freeze and
therefore an exception will need to be granted.

  * yuyo-gtk-theme provides the default GTK2 and GTK3 themes for Ubuntu
MATE. It is required to create Ubuntu MATE.

URL: https://ubuntu-mate.org
License: GPL-3
Notes: Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre has checked over this packages to it is of
suitable quality.

** PLEASE WAIT FOR COMMIT Fixed error in gtkrc for -Dark TO SYNC
FROM GITHUB BEFORE UPLOADING. **

[needs-packaging] yuyo-gtk-theme

The source for the packages are available from the following Launchpad
repositories:

  * https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mate-dev/ubuntu-mate/yuyo-gtk-
theme

Which are mirroed from GitHub:

[Bug 1388453] Re: Unable to install 14.10 - Black Screen

2015-02-13 Thread Johny Provoost
I found a workaround.

I tried to install the latest PCLinuxOS and the latest Fedora an had the same
problem, but there there was a item in the livecd menu to start in vesa mode.
That worked. So I start searching how to start Ubuntu in vesa mode.
I'll tried with the livecd from Ubuntu-mate 14.04.1
I selected NOMODESET en after the 'quit splash' I added vga=normal. That
started the live session of Ubuntu Mate in a resolution of 1024x768. I could
install Ubuntu Mate.
At restarting the computer in Grub I choose 'e' to go in edit mode. and added
'nomodeset' en 'vga=normal' as extra options. (keyboard was not in be but in
us, but I manage).
Mate started in 1024x768 (terrible on my screen, but at least I got something
working.
Then I installed the nvidia drivers 'NVIDIA legacy binairy drivers-version
304.124' an restarted the computer.
Got my beautiful desktop back :).
So I think the problem is probably in the nouveau drivers.

[Bug 1421249] Re: bluetooth can not be enabled sometimes

2015-02-13 Thread Jamie Strandboge
** Description changed:

The bluetooth indicator and the bluetooth page in system settings
sometimes won't turn on bluetooth until after a reboot. What I expect to
happen is that if bluetooth is off in the indicator/system settings and
I tap the switch, the switch will go green and in a moment the bluetooth
indicator will show up and bluetooth is enabled. When bluetooth is on, I
expect to go into the indicator/system settings and turn the switch off,
the switch will go gray and the bluetooth indicator will hide and
bluetooth is disabled. I expect this to work whenever I want while the
  phone is on.

Sometimes, this does not work. For example, yesterday I disabled
bluetooth at some point in the evening and later I went to sleep. When I
woke up, I tried to turn it on via the indicator and also system
- settings and it won't turn on. In the indicator, the switch moves to the
- green position briefly, then moves back to gray (the bluetooth indicator
- remains hidden and bluetooth is disabled). In system settings, the
- switch will stay green, but the bluetooth indicator remains hidden and
- bluetooth is disabled. If I leave system settings and come back, the the
- switch is now in the off position.
+ settings and it wouldn't turn on. In the indicator, the switch moves to
+ the green position briefly, then moves back to gray (the bluetooth
+ indicator remains hidden and bluetooth is disabled). In system settings,
+ the switch will stay green, but the bluetooth indicator remains hidden
+ and bluetooth is disabled. If I leave system settings and come back, the
+ the switch is now in the off position.

  /var/lib/urfkill/saved-states has:
  [BLUETOOTH]
  soft=false
  prev-soft=false

bluetoothd is confirmed to be running before and after using the
indicator and system settings when bluetooth cannot be enabled.

Workaround: reboot the phone and bluetooth will be enabled.

Note: this is not new behavior-- I'm only reporting it now (partly
because I thought it was fixed for a while, but that might have been
because I was rebooting a lot at the time)

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you
are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are
having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if
you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see

[Bug 1421746] [NEW] Enabling HWE Stack in precise broke my system

2015-02-13 Thread Bib
Public bug reported:

Dell D800 Pentium M 1400 - video pci id 0x0286 nv28m nvidia-96 mandatory
(broken nouveau)
I ran sudo apt-get install linux-generic-lts-trusty xserver-xorg-lts-trusty
which began removing nvidia96 and xserver-xorg-core then failed to install the
3.13.0-45 kernel
I had to add forcepae option to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX in /etc/default/grub AND
force the pae flag to show in /proc/cpuinfo this way:
~$ cat /proc/cpuinfo | sed 's/flags\t*:/ pae/' /tmp/cpuinfo_pae
~$ sudo mount -o bind /tmp/cpuinfo_pae /proc/cpuinfo
~$ sudo mount -o remount,ro,bind /proc/cpuinfo
so that after sudo update-grub and reboot I could have linux-generic-lts-trusty
to install OK.

However nvidia-96 fails to reinstall and the system is just OK for
booting in tty lowgraphics mode.

I have installed kernel 3.19 as requested.

Testing pm-suspend and GUI suspend gives a similar result but I couldn't
see a pattern: sometimes reboots at first atempt to awake, sometimes
resumes fine a couple of times.

[Bug 1421483] Re: All keyboard input fails: IBUS-WARNING **: Events queue growing too big

2015-02-13 Thread themusicgod1
Is it possible that the attempt to log this error message tries to open
a file, and fails because ...wait for it, there's no more open files
allowed for the ibus/glib2 using process? (given a default ulimit -n of
1024 for this process?). And that all you need to do is to force ibus
to use 1024 files at once to trigger this? Just a thought.

Hi Canonical. Some recent comments were made private by mistake. Catching you
up...

Installation of Boot loader failed again, so the reason here might be
stale data on disk.

--- Comment From helle...@us.ibm.com 2015-02-13 17:54 EDT---
(In reply to comment #22)

How are you doing the two installs described in the description? Are any
parts preseeded? How is the second install (lpar with single disk), how are
you getting the main menu if the installation is successful? Or does this
mean you are getting this dialog at the end of the installation
 automatically?

I've installed with 4 disks so far, no issues even with multiple prep
partitions on different disks, things appear to be working properly. I have
yet to try a single-disk install. One remaining difference though is that
these have no been done with disks connected over the emulex fibre channel
adapter as it seems to be the case as per syslog.

1. No parts are preseeded ,i am trying single disk installation, and
when i hit with the boot loader issue, there is a option GO
BACK/CONTINUE which will take us to Main Menu, even at the end of
installation we have that option, so it is easy to navigate to Main
Menu.

FWIW - We saw this too in our automated OpenStack charm testing (UOSCI).
Our work around is to overwrite known_hosts with our base known_hosts
file on every build, on every jenkins slave. A bit of a hack, but it
does the trick.

[Bug 1325801] Re: failed to boot from USB disk with error: gfxboot.c32: not a COM32R Image boot:

2015-02-13 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
It seems like the logic is probably good, but it doesn't appear to solve
the issue for burning a 14.04 USB key from 14.10... Though it may not be
as much of an issue as the other way around. Just copying the files in
place doesn't appear to be sufficient to get that working.

  this was not in 12.04.

Maybe it is a bug in upstart/systemd init scripts at reboot/shutdown.

  Thank you for your support!

[Bug 1395501] Re: input devices found, but there is no input level

2015-02-13 Thread Pål F . Kristiansen
upgraded kernel to 3.16.0-30-generic.

Internal soundcard is now recognized as Realtek ALC3661, wich is
correct.

$ grep -r Realtek /proc/asound/card*
/proc/asound/card1/codec#0:Codec: Realtek ALC3661

Still have problem with mic not working, happens to my internal mic, external
mic and external usb-sound card.
The weird thing is that mic works fine if I boot PC from a Ubuntu 14.04.1 USB
boot key.

[Bug 1421775] [NEW] menu often inaccessible

2015-02-13 Thread Morgan de Tarr
Public bug reported:

When I open Mnemosyne 2.2.1 under Ubuntu 14.04 and pass the cursor over
the title-bar at the top of the window, I expect to see a bar menu, but
no menu appears, that is, the title bar remains unchanged. If I then
click on an open window of another application (that is, shift the focus
to the window of another program) and then click on the Mnemosyne window
(and thus shift the focus back to Mnemosyne), the menu then appears when
I pass the cursor over the title-bar.

If I then click on any of the icons below Mnemosyne's title/menu bar,
the menu of the new window is inaccessible until I click on the window
of another program and then click on the new Mnemosyne window again.

When I close the window that I called by clicking the icon, the menu of
the first Mnemosyne window is once again inaccessible until I click on
the window of another program and then click on Mnemosyne's window.

I have to click on the window of another program to trigger access to
Mnemosyne's window. Clicking on the desktop and then on Mnemosyne's
window will not trigger access to Mnemosyne. I have to click on the
open window of another program and then click on the Mnemosyne window
again to get access to Mnemosyne's menu.

[Bug 1333140] Re: Fix udev rules to consider mmc rpmb partitions

2015-02-13 Thread Paul Norman
I experience this with a HP Stream 13 and a clean 14.10 install. I tried
the 60-persistent-storage.rules in #16, but they did not fix the
problem, which I saw about 15 seconds into startup on dmesg.

It may have reduced the occurrences as I only saw it happen once.

[Bug 1365562] Re: media-hub-server uses 100% CPU while playing video (and video fails to play)

2015-02-13 Thread Pat McGowan
This is still the case - see the bug duped here which has an mp4

For these videos the mediascanner fails to process them the first time
but they do show in the scope on a reboot (which seems a separate issue)
The following is reported in mediascanner and media-hub logs:

[Err, h264_dec_init] Fail to open Vdec Drv H264 instance! -11
[Err] Error code -10
[Err, h264_dec_deInit] Invalid input argument
[Err] Error code -1
Error when adding new file: Unable to discover file
/home/phablet/Videos/H264_500_AAC_128.3gp

The media-hub-server may or may not show up in top using 100% cpu but
the symptom is the same, the phone is alive but extremely sluggish and
appears frozen. Killing the server process restores normal conditions.

[Bug 1421174] Re: [FFe] standing freeze exception in vivid for Ubuntu Touch-specific packages

2015-02-13 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hey,

Sadly with the current processes setup it's not an easy thing to
coordinate. Touch development and schedules are tightly bound to client
requirements which means developers need to be able to work on feature
requests when needed. We could of course work-around that by simply
moving all active development away from the main archives and work on a
derived one (like ubuntu-rtm and some sub-series) instead, but this
would once again introduce yet another layer of backporting needed. We
could also do the split at the moment of a feature freeze, then do all
development on the derived distribution instead (maybe only backporting
stability fixes) and then sync everything up to the new development
series once it opens. But making of such synces is not easy. But yeah,
there might be some other ideas as well.

For this cycle though I would like to request such a blanket FFE once
again.

[Bug 1365562] Re: media-hub-server uses 100% CPU while playing video (and video fails to play)

I submitted bug #1421797, if the unsupported video did not show up in
the scope this hang would be far less likely to be hit by a user.

[Bug 1421797] [NEW] mediscanner will fail quietly on some videos but then displaythem in the scope after a reboot

2015-02-13 Thread Pat McGowan
Public bug reported:

See bug :1365562

The scanner will report an error of the form:
[Err, h264_dec_init] Fail to open Vdec Drv H264 instance! -11
[Err] Error code -10
[Err, h264_dec_deInit] Invalid input argument
[Err] Error code -1
Error when adding new file: Unable to discover file
/home/phablet/Videos/H264_500_AAC_128.3gp

and no video will appear in the video scope. After a reboot the video is
shown but is not playable since playback results in the same error.

Would be good to
1) display an error to the user that the video is not supported after the user
added it to /Videos (or when sd card inserted?)
2) do not show it in the scope

[Bug 1421802] [NEW] scopes not updated as often as expected

2015-02-13 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Public bug reported:

When using the weather channel scope, I find it doesn't update when I
expect. Eg, someone asked me what the temp was going to be and I said
'46'. She responded with What?!? No way, I heard it was supposed to be
in the 70s!. Then I responded oh, let me swipe down-- yes, there we
go, 76. Seems that it should maybe update automatically after screen
unlock and/or coming back in from another scope.

Other weather apps seem to be able to do this fine. Perhaps this
automatic updating would be something a scope could opt in to?

[Bug 1421824] [NEW] xinetd init.d Script Can Cause Multiple Instances to Run

2015-02-13 Thread Kevin
Public bug reported:

The init.d script for xinetd seems to have some issues. If it's started
before the upstart script, two instances of xinetd can be running.

Also, the .pid file location in the init.d script is a different
location than the upstart script. While more checks should be done in
the init.d script to see if an instance is already running, making both
.pid files the same would do a lot to help this issue.

Steps to reproduce:

root@pslchi6ddevtest1:/etc/init.d# /etc/init.d/xinetd start
 * Starting internet superserver xinetd

[ OK ]
root@pslchi6ddevtest1:/etc/init.d# service xinetd start

[Bug 1412042] Re: [Toshiba Satellite P855-S5102] Fan too loud while CPU idle

2015-02-13 Thread jtd
Apologies for delay, I wanted to recreate initial conditions as best as
possible but with newer kernel (Linux 111 3.19.0-031900rc7-generic).

Unfortunately, that potential WORKAROUND does not appear to help address
the fan noise level. The only thing I note is that System Monitor CPU
History is now allowed to break 25% barrier (previously one CPU would be
at 100% while the others rested, now they take on greater cumulative
load if pushed). Perhaps --governor=powersave is higher than default or
my evidence is too anecdotal.

Other notes:
1- It seems fan noise definitely more of a problem when using an external
display (is screen still on or does it simply act as a blanket when covering
laptop body?). Actually, with total load 25% and laptop open with external
display, fan noise very quickly a problem! This may actually be one underlying
issue?? But problem still exists without external display.
2- If I Suspend for even 5 seconds, fan noise is greatly reduced on
UnSuspend (is this simply physics or the system?).
3- It seems that once fan noise up, system cannot reduce by itself. But
Suspend resets a trigger.

Many, many thanks!
