Here is a work-around which fixed the issue for me:
1. In the stable version (in my case Ubuntu 14.04 AMD 64 kernel 3.13.0-44),
open Additional Drivers then select the X.Org X server Nouveau display driver.
2. Allow the setup to complete. Reboot system. Confirm driver is working.
3. Reboot into

Though for now it might be worth mentioning that I did install Manjaro
Linux on a 2nd partition to tinker with some newer packages with the
AUR. It's on kernel 3.16, and like i said, different partition but same
laptop. I closed

I have my Lenovo W520 attached to a Dell monitor via HDMI. When I want
to use the laptop without the attached monitor, I switch the NVidia
Prime profile to Intel Power Saving Mode. It's the only way I can get

Hm, in Norbert's journal the Unmounted /mnt/fritz.nas. now appears
before Stopping Network is Online. and shutting down NetworkManager
and wlan0, so this part actually worked now.
The problem seems to be that Stopping D-Bus System Message Bus...
appears before shutting down NetworkManager, and

Using a multi seat setup (2 users working the same time on different

BTW, I use sudo loginctl unlock-sessions as a workaround.
