FWIW, I tested this on my (unpatched) lucid box and things were returned
as expected. curl without acng would put out the 404 information in
both cases. And with acng the command line prompt would simply return
without any output at all. That's expected behaviour, I guess. It

I have experienced the same issue an another notebook (C504 from XMG), also
with Ubuntu 14.04.
When I initiate a shutdown, the system freezes and even the SysRQ key-combos do
not work any more.
The strange thing is that I previously used Ubuntu 14.04 Gnome edition and I
never had any

I encountered this bug on a laptop/client system upgrading to 14.04LTS.
This bug also prevented me from using sudo. I found that booting into
the recovery console and using dpkg to purge libpam-winbind got me back
the ability to use sudo, then after renaming
/var/lib/samba/private/secrets.tdb I

I decided to try fglrx drivers when an update resulted in very choppy
flash video when connected to second monitor via displayport. Upon
reverting back through the Additional Drivers utility, I promptly
discovered my video was very choppy and had a lot of defects -- UI was
