[Bug 1476011] Re: hp-setup plugin file does not match its checksum

2015-07-20 Thread goutam
Sourceforge site is down
(http://sourceforge.net/blog/sourceforge-infrastructure-and-service-restoration/)
and unfortunately hp-plugin utility is not able to fetch the plugin.conf from
sorceforge site.
Can you directly download the plugin files from here:
https://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/auxfiles/HP/plugins/hplip-3.15.2-plugin.run
https://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/auxfiles/HP/plugins/hplip-3.15.2-plugin.run.asc

To install the plugin file you can run command 'sudo sh
hplip-3.15.2-plugin.run' in terminal or you can run command 'sudo hp-
plugin' in terminal and choose the second option to manually select the
hplip-3.15.2-plugin.run file and install.

Run command 'hp-setup' to configure the print queue.

[Bug 1336541] Re: No TRIM via USB

2015-07-20 Thread Dan Parslow
TRIM is accessible via hdparm --trim-sector-ranges on a USB device
supporting ATA PASS THROUGH:

Device is an SSD in a USB 3.0 adapter identified in lshw as follows:

Bus 001 Device 005: ID 174c:55aa ASMedia Technology Inc. ASMedia 2105
SATA bridge

Adapter is hosting a 180GB Intel 530 M.2 NGFF SSD

fstrim fails as described with FITRIM ioctl failed: Operation not
supported even though the hdparm invocation works fine. I've tested
full ext4 filesystem trims using wiper.sh, the utility by Mark Lord that
was bundled for a while with hdparm until fstrim came out. This utility
works by wrapping the hdparm invocation.

So it definitely seems to be the case that the USB driver stack is
declining to implement TRIM even in cases where it is technically able
to do so. Given the extremely high performance of USB3+, it seems very
likely that USB-connected SSDs will become increasingly usual.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a

[Bug 1465862] Re: Mouse Cursor Invisible

2015-07-20 Thread Vindicator
I'm going back to the 100% of the time issue.
I'm finding that the 100% occurs during boot when I switch to the detailed
output part of the boot (ESC) instead of leaving it at the graphical mode.

It does NOT explain the disappearing mouse when I hover over a terminal window.
The mouse would reappear if:
1) I move the mouse out of the terminal window or
2) I click in the terminal window.
The disappearing state is not 100% of the time and will get introduced at any
point during the session.

It does NOT explain the disappearing mouse completely at unknown/random
times. It is pretty rare, but can happen. I'm not sure if I had tried
just logging out and back (like at the boot-login time) in when it
happens at that time.

[Bug 1453289] Re: network-manager asks for passwords it already knows

2015-07-20 Thread Selene Scriven
I've noticed this also interferes sometimes with automated power testing. For
example, these two test runs were invalid because of the NM bug:
http://people.canonical.com/~platform-qa/power-results/2015-07-09_21:38:21-arale-55-power_usage_idle/8/
http://people.canonical.com/~platform-qa/power-results/2015-07-16_23:25:17-arale-61-power_usage_display_on/2/

The more recent one has more logs and thus might have more useful
information.

I've seen this bug on every NetworkManager-based system I've ever tried,
not just Ubuntu, and it has been one of my top reasons for not using
NetworkManager. It's really unfortunate that the bug made it all the
way to the Ubuntu phone, after not getting fixed for approximately a
decade.

After reading through the threads of discussion on Noto fonts on Fedora
21/22, I'm getting a bit conservative about whether we want to change
the default font for CJKV at the moment. Most of our users are still
using non-hidpi displays, and it appears that using Noto fonts with that
would result into unexpected results...

It wasn't technically possible for us to provide for both use cases I'm
afraid. We were stuck between having no way to change languages or
subtitles (which lots of people were unhappy about) or having no menu in
fullscreen and we chose what we consider to be the lesser of two evils.

Ubuntu's team for managing updates to stable releases had the chance to
review this update and passed it too. It has gone through our correct
process.

[Bug 1472293] Re: load = 1 while idle for no obvious reason with ACPI

2015-07-20 Thread Hanno
Hmm. Apport-collect wouldn't let me send the logs for 3.12.44, despite
it being an Ubuntu kernel (or is it?)

[Bug 1471338] Re: sometimes phone never wakes up or rings on incoming call

2015-07-20 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
I reproduced this bug on arale:

current build number: 62
device name: arale
channel: ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/meizu.en
last update: 2015-07-17 07:59:50
version version: 62
version ubuntu: 20150717
version device: 20150709-8965e37
version custom: 20150709-814-6-40

Signal strength is average. The phone doesn't ring, there is no snap
decision, but there is a 'missed call' notification in the messaging
indicator when the caller terminates the call.

The phone can be suspended or not, it doesn't make a difference and once
in this state it is reproducible, the phone will not receive any call.

[Bug 1460444] Re: kde-l10n-si fails to install due to /usr/share/locale/si/LC_MESSAGES/kcmhtmlsearch.mo being in khelpcenter as well

2015-07-20 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for reporting.

I run into the same conflict when I attempt to install both these
packages at once on Ubuntu Wily.

Looking at open bugs for khelpcenter I found bug 1430593, so this might
be similar conflicts for all kde-l10n-* packages. I wasn't really sure
wheter to mark this a duplicate or not though.

[Bug 1448102] Re: Kubuntu 15.04: plasmashell crashes

2015-07-20 Thread Blue Duck
Same problem here: Plasma freezes after few minutes, no choice but
reboot... and freeze again. I went through dist-upgrade, fresh install,
but same issue.

I've installed ubuntu-desktop on my Kubuntu 15.04: Unity freezes in the
same way!

I've apt-get purged the nouveau driver and installed the nVidia
proprietary driver: Unity now works just fine, and Plasma doesn't freeze
anymore but remains absolutely useless because incredibly slow.

Staying temporarily with Unity while waiting for the next Plasma update.

 Please keep your language calm.

It has gone through our correct
 process.

 Cheers,

[Bug 1472293] Re: load = 1 while idle for no obvious reason with ACPI

2015-07-20 Thread Hanno
Ok, so...

Tested with 3.14.1 [1]: problem is there :-(
Tested with 3.12.44 [2]: yay, problem not there! :-)
Tested with 3.13.11 [3]: problem is there :-(
Tested with 3.13.0 [4]: problem is there. :-(
Tested with 3.13.0-rc1 [5]: problem is there. :-(

So I can confirm that things work fine with 3.12.44 with ACPI on, while
the problem starts to appear with 3.13.0-rc1 and ACPI on.

Let me know how I can investigate this further.

** Description changed:

My idling server will stay at load =1 if ACPI is active, for no obvious
  reason.

Adding acpi=off to grub will resolve this and load falls to 0.0x as
  expected.

But I use the power button to tell the box to shut down and without
ACPI, systemd cannot respond to the power button's ACPI event.

My server is an Acer Easystore H340, that's a small NAS box with four
disk bays and an Atom 230 in it. That's standard x86 hardware capable of
  running x86_64 kernels.

Recently, it was upgraded from 14.10 to 15.04 x86_64. Only after that
upgrade did I notice the load = 1 problem, although it may have been
  there in previous releases, already.

No idea how to debug this.

To resolve this, I either need
  - a way to fix load = 1 with ACPI
  or
  - a way to respond to the power button without ACPI

  Thanks.

[Bug 1476178] [NEW] Installer tries to install grub on the wrong disk

2015-07-20 Thread Kjeld Flarup
Public bug reported:

I have just installed Ubuntu 14.04 on a Dell precision M3800, via
download of the USB network installer.

This gave me some headache installing grub, since during the install, the hard
disk was assigned to /dev/sdb.
Installing the file system worked well, but the grub part failed. No matter
what I did, it always tried to install grub on /dev/sda

I ended up in continuing the install without bootloader, and when finished, I
escaped the install sequence and executed a shell where I executed this command:
grub-install --root-directory=/target /dev/sda

Thus I worked around the problem, but I think that this is an easily
fixable bug in the installer. It should just check which device is
mounted on /target

PS: I guess the cause of this behaviour, is that the USB stick which I
use, does not contain a driver for the disk controller. Thus the driver
module is first loaded when the USB gets network access and can fetch
the driver from the net. Thus the USB is always assigned /dev/sda. When
the system is installed the kernel knows the driver and the disk gets
/dev/sda

[Bug 1472293] Re: load = 1 while idle for no obvious reason with ACPI

2015-07-20 Thread Hanno
Thanks for the instructions.

Tested with 4.2.0-040200rc3.201507192329 (http://kernel.ubuntu.com
/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.2-rc3-unstable/linux-
image-4.2.0-040200rc3-generic_4.2.0-040200rc3.201507192329_amd64.deb).

Problem not fixed with that kernel.

As reported before, adding acpi=off to grub will fix this and load
quickly falls to 0.something and stays near 0. But without ACPI, I
cannot use the power button anymore.

[Bug 1475434] Re: ipvlan module causes kernel crashes (backport fixes from upstream)

2015-07-20 Thread Luis Henriques
** Description changed:

+ ipvlan is currently unusable as removing an interface with an IP address

+

+
+ ipvlan: fix addr hash list corruption
+
+ --
+
Kernel version 3.19, currently being used as the vivid LTS kernel,
includes support for ipvlan. But at its current state it is unusable as
simply removing an interface with an ip address attached will cause a
kernel crash. The fix is already upstream:

https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/27705f7085ce2e124fac4c280ce824962cc90bb6

Reproducing this is easy (requires a recent version of iproute2, with
support for ipvlan, such as the one in debian/experimental):

  ip netns add ns0
ip link add link eth0 ipvl0 type ipvlan mode L3
ip link set dev ipvl0 netns ns0

  ip netns exec ns0 bash
ip link set dev ipvl0 up
  ip -4 addr add 192.168.0.10/24 dev ipvl0
  ip link del dev ipvl0

The last line will cause a kernel crash, with a calltrace that looks
  like this:

  https://gist.github.com/fabiokung/b360cb2f3bdf2fb36c8b

Can we get the fixes backported to the 3.19 LTS kernel from vivid?
Ideally we would like to have the whole patchset backported:

https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/d91e9015c78af1dc1f8ac4fdcf6118dbc2401668
  and

boot only from F2 key whose menu has options ( ), (upstart), (recovery

ok, BUT screen controls are 'locked', cannot change resolution or aspect

[Bug 1458680] Re: platform-api FTBFS in wily (2.9.0+15.04.20150326-0ubuntu1)

2015-07-20 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Looks like the merge proposal from comment #1 has been merged now.

Based on the title, since 3.0.0+15.10.20150706-0ubuntu1 is the current
version in Ubuntu Wily and has built successfully, is this issue
considered fixed? :)

[Bug 1447224] Re: Regression: Unable to select audio or subtitle tracks

2015-07-20 Thread gfysty!
Excuse my language, it was late and i was quite upset on the broken
Fullscreen-Easteregg -so to speak- that this update meant for me and all others
that updated and were used to have a context-menu in Fullscreen.
I actually didn't even noticed there was such a bug, cause i usally use Totem
in Fullscreen, until i checked it today.

Nevertheless this isn't a fix, you take a bug fix it and in reverse create
another one, this is messy bugfixing if you ask me, and i guess there will be
more 'upset' people coming once this update has come around 100%.
The Problem beeing that you lose the every kind of interaction within
fullscreen except for the very basic stuff, i could totally live with having to
go into windowed-mode if it was just for the subs's but Maximize/Scale/ etc..

For me Totem used to be a tool i didn't even think about touching, but
after the mayor-UI Changes it became a really straight-forward player,
minimalistic yet intuitively easy to use, this update basically
destroyed exactly that intuitiveness that i really started to love for
me, so much so that i rarely use VLC anymore, hope this explains a bit
why i reacted the way i reacted :)

Have a nice day folks!

[Bug 1472407] Re: Segmentation fault uploading a csv using ZF1.12.1

2015-07-20 Thread Robie Basak
Please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates

We do not update stable releases in updates recommended to all users due
to regression risk to existing users. I understand that PHP upstream do
not maintain stability in their stable branches in the way that Ubuntu
users expect, so we currently have no plans to update this.

If you can identify a specific upstream commit that fixes this issue
then we can cherry-pick it in an SRU. See the linked page for details on
the procedure to follow for this.

Since you say that this bug is fixed in 5.5.10 and Wily has 5.6.9, I'm
marking this Fix Released in the development release and opening a task
for Trusty to continue tracking this issue.

** Also affects: php5 (Ubuntu Trusty)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Changed in: php5 (Ubuntu)
