Hi,
I know it's a 15.10/4.2.0 thread, but I have the same problem with 14.04
LTS and 3.16.0-62 kernel in vmware. 3.16.0-60 is the last that worked.
Should I open a new bug report? If yes, what data should I send? But I'm
a Linux noob so be patient :)

on both servers ("working" and "not working") show:
openssl version -d
OPENSSLDIR: "/usr/lib/ssl"
and both show (since /usr/lib/ssl/certs is symlinked to /etc/ssl/certs

works perfectly well on all my servers returning a positive result
except the servers that have been updated as far as I can see. When I
add the argument -CAfile
I have a very similar problem on my Laptop running Xubuntu too.
So no VMWare. Just normal Xubuntu running directly on the laptop.
After updating to kernel 4.2.0.30, my laptop would still start to the login
screen.
Everything seemed to be working fine on the login screen.

required fix and works fine on Trusty.
I am not familiar with the LTS package upgrading policies, but could anyone
upgrade the Trusty version (2.0.5-3) too?

Testing Ubuntu GNOME amd64 16.04 beta (build: 20160225.1) on Oracle
VirtualBox. It happens with the Live Session and it is also happening
after I install the system.

I searched a way to add a central cups server to an ubuntu pc.
I got it working like this:
vi /etc/cups/cups-browsed.conf
Added these lines:
BrowsePoll printserver1
BrowsePoll printserver2
... I agree a client.conf is not needed.
