[i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun - Xorg
I disagree on the status given. It is not an invalid issue for Ubuntu
14.04 which uses a kernel of version 3.16.0-x.
The kernel delivered is erroneous and that is what is in the report.
There is also information that fix is available in newer kernels. Thus,
there can be a backport.
The reason
nope, dkms should be a shell script file, not an executable file
$ ls -l /usr/sbin/dkms
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 130809 nov 17 06:43 /usr/sbin/dkms
$ file /usr/sbin/dkms
/usr/sbin/dkms: Bourne-Again shell script, ASCII text executable
please try some apt-get install --reinstall dkms to see if it
After discussing with Seb, it is decided to drop this as a build dep and
ship the docs in the tarball.

Just as a followup: the workaround command I gave only works if the
usb_storage module is already loaded.
If it isn't loaded, you can write it like this:
sudo modprobe usb_storage quirks=1bbb:f000:i
Probably it's best to set a default parameter for the module, though, if
that's possible.
