[Bug 1574347] Re: [SRU]network-manager

2016-05-13 Thread Shinjan Saha
I have done the testing on Dell Inspiron.

Upgraded all the following packages

network-manager: 1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.2 - found in proposed
libnm-*: 1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.2
network-manager-gnome: 1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.1

Testings done:-

1. Check after AP on/off - Only improvement is I can see the wifi
network list. Other two problems persist. That is, in the original bug
description, problem#1 is solved, #2 and #3 still persist.

2. Check after suspend/resume - All the 3 problems persist. No
improvement noticed.

[Bug 1581720] [NEW] Raspberry Pi 3 64-bit kernel

2016-05-13 Thread Ryan Finnie
Public bug reported:

The raspi2 kernel works fine on the Raspberry Pi 3 in 32-bit mode, but
64-bit mode is also an option. I've currently got a test setup using
xenial arm64 userland + updated firmware/u-boot + the 4.5.0 kernel from
someone who made a Debian image a month ago (http://www.tom-
yam.or.jp/rpi3/rpi3-arm64-debian-20160414.img.xz), but I don't see any
information about the source tree he used to compile it. Presumably
https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/tree/rpi-4.5.y; I'll see if I can
reproduce with his config (attached). Hopefully the same kernel tree
can be used for (raspi2 32-bit & raspi3 32-bit) and (raspi3 64-bit).

[Bug 1581718] Re: unity-tweak-tool does not honor Hidden=true parameter in icon index.theme files.

2016-05-13 Thread PJSingh5000
** Description changed:

- If Hidden=true in an index.theme file, the theme is selectable in the
- Unity Tweak user interface, but it should not be visible.
+ If Hidden=true in an index.theme file, the theme is listed and
+ selectable in the Unity Tweak user interface, but the theme should not
+ be visible.

- 1. To recreate the issue, simply edit an icon theme file under
user\share\icons\.
+
+ TEST #1:
+
+ 1. Open the Hicolor icon theme index.theme file
(/usr/share/icons/hicolor/index.theme).
+ 2. Notice that index.theme file has "Hidden=true" on the fourth line.
+ 3. Launch Unity Tweak, and navigate to the Icons tab.
+ 4. Notice that the Hicolor icon theme is visible and selectable.
+
+
+ TEST #2:
+
+ 1. Edit an icon theme file under /usr/share/icons/.
  2. Enter Hidden=true in the [Icon Theme] section.
- 3. Then open Unity Tweak Tool, and notice that the theme is still visible and
selectable.
+ 3. Launch Unity Tweak, and navigate to the Icons tab.
+ 3. Notice that the theme is still visible and selectable.

- This issue is also noticeable with the Hicolor icon theme
- (/usr/share/icons/hicolor). The theme's index.theme file has
- "Hidden=true" on the fourth line, but Hicolor is still shown in the
- Icons tab of Unity Tweak.

+ BACKGROUND:

According to "Icon Theme Specification" at Freedesktop.org...

"Hidden - Whether to hide the theme in a theme selection user interface.
This is used for things such as fallback-themes that are not supposed to
  be visible to the user."

Public bug reported:

plugging in a i(phone in this case) anything while listening to banshee

iirc, banshee should pick up the device.

its a 5s.
I have force disabled pulse and am on alsa. instructions for this are
elsewhere. touche for this but pulse is as busted as gnome3.

THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN.
hardware is internal to the motherboard and REMOVAL NOTICES are beligerent and
acinine and NONSENSE.
NOTHING is REMOVED.
ALC 889 INTEL driver on CrossHairV(mind you a known SIN board but..) MUST
certainly be broken.

[Bug 1527314] Re: Neither Dropplet nor Inspect will accept images. No reaction what so ever

2016-05-13 Thread Sergio Scabuzzo
The advice at the following link fixed it for me.
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=811184#12

Basically:

In the file usr/share/phatch/phatch/lib/pyWx/wxPil.py I changed the
words "fromstring" and "tostring" to "frombytes" and "tobytes". Now
Phatch seems to work with the latest python-imaging and python-pil
libraries in Sid.

[Bug 1581718] [NEW] unity-tweak-tool does not honor Hidden=true parameter in icon index.theme files.

2016-05-13 Thread PJSingh5000
Public bug reported:

If Hidden=true in an index.theme file, the theme is listed and
selectable in the Unity Tweak user interface, but the theme should not
be visible.

TEST #1:

1. Open the Hicolor icon theme index.theme file
(/usr/share/icons/hicolor/index.theme).
2. Notice that index.theme file has "Hidden=true" on the fourth line.
3. Launch Unity Tweak, and navigate to the Icons tab.
4. Notice that the Hicolor icon theme is visible and selectable.

TEST #2:

1. Edit an icon theme file under /usr/share/icons/.
2. Enter Hidden=true in the [Icon Theme] section.
3. Launch Unity Tweak, and navigate to the Icons tab.
3. Notice that the theme is still visible and selectable.

BACKGROUND:

According to "Icon Theme Specification" at Freedesktop.org...

"Hidden - Whether to hide the theme in a theme selection user interface.
This is used for things such as fallback-themes that are not supposed to
be visible to the user."

[Bug 1581715] [NEW] File associations

2016-05-13 Thread Mykal Anderson
Public bug reported:

When the application is installed there is no file association for
.blend files. ie, when i double click on a .blend file, it runs apturl

blender in the software centre.

Corrected by adding application/x-blender=blender.desktop to
/usr/share/applications/defaults.list however the application still does
not appear in the list of available applications in right click nautilus
menu unless it is already the default application.

[Bug 1581708] [NEW] weather applet does not convert untis for feels like in popup window

2016-05-13 Thread Brendan Perrine
Public bug reported:

To reproduce from a location that supports the yahoo weather api add the
weather applet to lxpanel. Now on the weather applet right click weather
plugin settings and choose celcius for the unit of temperature. Then
click ok. Then left click on the weather plugin and on the popup window
read the feels like line with the temperture in farinheight with a C on
the end.

lxpanel:
  Installed: 0.8.2-1ubuntu2
  Candidate: 0.8.2-1ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 0.8.2-1ubuntu2 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
Description:Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
Release:16.04

I expected the feels like part of the weather to change to degrees
celcius with the window open. Instead it showed feels like in celcius
which would be way too hot to be comfortable and would feel much hotter
than being surroned by air the temperuture of my cpu heatsink as shown
in the screenshot.

[Bug 1576323] Re: gedit 3.20 crashes in Unity with SIGSEGV in gtk_menu_button_set_popover()

2016-05-13 Thread Tim
I have not seen that crash here.

It looks like it is failing to create the open_button menu, which uses
the pan-down-symbolic icon. I don't see how that icon could be missing
though, its part of adwaita-icon-theme (which is also used by ubuntu
themes)

[Bug 1575555] Re: Chrome/Chromium use "Thin" as default font weight

2016-05-13 Thread voidvector
GH, thank you for putting this in.

At standard body text font size, around 14px for websites, thin width is
a lot less scan-able. You have to make an effort to read it. The feeling
is similar to reading "Courier New" body text. You can read it if you
make an effort, and you can get accustomed to it, however, it reduces UX
by a lot.

The "门" problem exists without the proposed font package installed.

[Bug 1534798] Re: lxsession-logout doest not always work

2016-05-13 Thread Brendan Perrine
I understand Daro is trying to help but I am having a bit of trouble
with what he is reporting and might have seen two ways to interpret this
which might be causing confusion and preventing this from being fixed.
Misinterpreting bug reports is frustrating for the triagers as well.

1. can only get one lxsession-logout window open? Because I can open an
lxsession logout window switch to another virtual workspace and then
continue using everything but can't open up another lxsessoin logout
instance then. The upstream gtk2 lxde has been adding these behind the
scense as having two windows open like this would end up using more
memory which is a problem on older hardware. I read through the
changelog of lxsession and I get that it now requires a library for
making unique applications. This I think might be close to the intended
behavior as you are not supposed to be able to launch more than one as
it would take much ram on a lot of the older systems and does running
two logout dialgos serve any practical purpose other than just messing
around. Making this not a singleton application would however make more
ram hungry and if it caused the computers to swap and run slowly which
is part of the reason lxde got developed.

2. Do you try to launch lxsession-logout once and say logout or switch
user log back in again and then can't logout. If so that is a more
serious problem. And would definetly be a bug that needs to be fixed.

I believe libnl is to blame. I followed #7 at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libnl3/+bug/1539513 who
suggests downloading the 3 libnl-* on another machine and with a USB-
stick transfer them and then sudo dpkg -i libnl*.deb After that I got
networking working again.

[Bug 1578821] Re: I'm not able to install galician language in Ubuntu 16.04

2016-05-13 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Well, there is a reason to except hunspell-gl-es, even if it's not as
important as the current exception: The users will be prompted to
uninstall hunspell-gl-es via "apt autoremove", and if they do, and
without the exception, they would be prompted by language-selector to
install it again, and so on... (There is currently a similar exception
for hunspell-sv-se.)

[Bug 1417980] Re: Add support for unified Xorg input driver

Never mind. Unity obviously uses unity-settings-daemon these days.

I believe Ubuntu GNOME will want to hard depend on libinput for yakkety
so it would be good if unity-control-center could handle libinput too so
that Touchpad Settings work well for those who use both GNOME and Unity.

[Bug 1132063] Re: Mouse settings missing from Mouse & Touchpad dialog

2016-05-13 Thread JohnWashington
Over 18 months ago (see #35) this was assigned to Iain Lane. Why has
activity stalled?

'lxinput' and/or 'xset' may be workarounds, no doubt of interest to
those few who visit this report. But what about the other 99% of users
who suffer but have no idea how to search Launchpad and find
workarounds? The real benefit of a workaround is that it shows that the
job is technically possible and now needs integrating into the product
that's delivered to the masses.

Being able to adjust mouse sensitivity is especially important for the
elderly and others who suffer from difficulties with motor control. I
teach retired beginners and this kind of accessibility issue can make
the difference between a happy Linux user and a switch to Windows. See
bug #1.

My experience of software development is that if a feature doesn't get
done within 6 months then it NEVER gets done. I hope I'm wrong.
