[Bug 1581151] Re: Time to drop 69-language-selector-zh-??.conf?

2016-05-13 Thread Yuan Chao
For Noto Sans font, it's just for the Sans Serif family. Still for Serif
fonts, we still rely on other local font sets. The fallback settings in
those fontconfig files should still be needed.

Japanese uses Chinese characters but with some variates. That's why a
local font is preferred. Noto Sans provides all glyphs for different
locale, which meets the needs. Just currently only Sans Serif is
provided for Noto Sans.

This appears to be a matter of installing the 'correct' theme (although
I strongly believe this should be offered regardless of which theme is
being used as it is basic functionality, and certainly should work by
default.)

[Bug 1448442] Re: No login possible when using a directory (e.g. active directory via sssd)

2016-05-13 Thread martin
Any news on this bug (filed last year)? This is a showstopper for anyone
not using linux on a hobbyist basis where every username is stored
locally in /etc/passwd and not in some centralized ldap db.–or made
available via sssd, which certainly is more common in a work/corporate
env.

[Bug 1581272] Re: gpsd always runs in 'non-daemonised' or not at all

2016-05-13 Thread Bernd Zeimetz
Your description is wrong - systemd happily handles a running gpsd in
fireground mode.
Also /etc/default/gpsd is not read by gpsd, but by systemd and the options are
passed to gpsd.

Whatever the problem is you are having, your change is not the fix for
it.

Please not that gpsd - by default - will not start automatically. Its
start is triggered by systemd socket activation. You'll have to add an
appropriate systemd config file if you want to change that - for example
if you need to have systemd running at system boot.

[Bug 1581433] Re: free output in german translation line up wrong colums

2016-05-13 Thread Andreas Kostyrka
added the output again as an attachment because the variable width
display of the output is not helpful.

Basically, one useful idea would be to check the length of the
translations when outputting, and either complain or cut off the
translation.

[Bug 1310680] Re: Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.

2016-05-13 Thread Piet Starreveld
@tomi0: Synaptic uses xdg-open for visiting URL's and when you set your
personal default browser to chrome, root's default still remains
firefox. Additionally, the xdg-open man-page says 'xdg-open is for use
inside a desktop session only. It is not recommended to use xdg-open as
root', but anyway, here goes a workaround :-)

Steps 1 thru 4 below are one-time only. Note that the workaround ONLY
works when using sudo to run synaptic from the command line (step 5).
It's not required start synaptic in the background - that's just my
personal preference.

# 1. confirm root's web-browser is reported as 'firefox.desktop'
sudo xdg-settings get default-web-browser

# 2. create dirs missing for chrome to be able to become root's default
web-browser
sudo mkdir -p /root/.config /root/.pki/nssdb

# 3. change root's default web-browser to chrome
sudo xdg-settings set default-web-browser google-chrome.desktop

# 4. ensure newly created dirs have proper access
sudo chmod 700 /root/.config /root/.local /root/.pki

# 5. run synaptic in background from command line using sudo
sudo synaptic &>/dev/null &

Here's the relevant /var/log/syslog entries before (and when using
Synaptic's 'authentication' dialogue):

synaptic.desktop[6148]: Error: Access was denied while trying to open files in
your profile directory.
synaptic.desktop[6148]: (firefox:7212): GConf-WARNING **: Client failed to

And here's the relevant entry remaining after (i.e. step 1 thru 4 completed and
starting synaptic using sudo):

@19:

I still see this bug (#1580697) when I run a mainstream kernel 4.5 or 4.6, so I

[Bug 1581412] [NEW] [Feature Request] Razer Mouse DPI Sensitivity

2016-05-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have a Razer DeathAdder gaming mouse that I like to use for both
gaming and general use with Ubuntu. Unfortunately, Razer currently makes
no drivers for Linux, and the DPI of the mouse is 3500. This makes it
extremely sensitive to use for day-to-day things, such as navigating the
desktop or browsing the Internet.

There happens to be a tool called RazerCFG online that can lower the DPI
of Razer peripherals. However, you need to build and install it through
the console, which can be intimidating and off-putting for regular
users. It would be great if either this tool could be included as an
official app in Ubuntu Software, or the sensitivity of the mouse could
be lowered even further than it currently can be in the Ubuntu Settings
panel.

It would be a small improvement that could make a big difference for
Linux gamers like myself, and help encourage others to try out Ubuntu.

Thank you for reading.

Hi,

can't use apport, so reporting this via the web.

The debian/grub-legacy-ec2.install file seems to be wrong, files end up

[Bug 1580591] Re: "activate networking" : broken from recovery mode

2016-05-13 Thread Martin Pitt
I tested this on current xenial, and my ethernet interface does get
configured via DHCP, through the "ifup -a", it's not yet getting to the
NetworkManager fallback. I then commented out the "ifup -a" from /lib
/recovery-mode/options/network and re-ran it, and NM gets brought up.

So I cannot reproduce this and I need more information what goes wrong
for you. Please start recovery mode, select "root shell", and run

   sh -x /lib/recovery-mode/options/network > /var/tmp/network.debug
2>&1

Then reboot and attach /var/tmp/network.debug here. Thanks!

[Bug 1534798] Re: lxsession-logout doest not always work

2016-05-13 Thread Luís Teófilo
In my case this package works with the default graphic drivers, but not
with the proprietary ones from nvidia. If you try to open the lxsession-
logout, I see the application on the status bar but I won't open. If you
open any other application in fullscreen and exit it, this application
will launch just after exiting fullscreen mode. I am using lubuntu
version 15.

[Bug 1580697] Re: Kernel freezes after drm_wait_one_vblank timed out

2016-05-13 Thread Klaus Bielke
@20: Bootet with mainline kernel 4.6-rc7
(uname -rv says: 4.6.0-040600rc7-generic #201605081830 SMP Sun May 8 22:48:45
UTC 2016 ).

Still same behavior as with kernel 4.4.0:
Messages 'vblank wait timed out' present in bootlog, see appended file.
Every user/session switch (Crtl-Alt-Fn) to a X11-screen generates 3 of these
messages.
VT-switch to an non X11-screen does not produce these messages.

Need time for testing, if freeze still occures.

- debian/cmake-data.install

[Bug 1574347] Re: [SRU]network-manager

2016-05-13 Thread Cip Man
My production box is also updated to the current stable versions
(mentioned in post #36) but it still has the issues with vanishing
network list & wrong indicator symbol when you turn wifi/AP/suspend
off/on (and the workaround in post #33 doesn't work).

[Bug 1385410] Re: hook into system-image updates to precompile policy prior to reboot

2016-05-13 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
It’s good to have a more precise estimate of (i) recompilation time.
If/when we also get measurements for (ii) how long a restart usually
takes, and (iii) how long flashing usually takes, I’ll update the
specified progress bar allocation.

[Bug 1573547] Re: Apt's bash completion is incomplete

2016-05-13 Thread Julian Andres Klode
Thanks for the patch, it was slightly incomplete though -- build-dep did
not complete to source packages and a lot of other stuff was still
missing.

I worked further on the whole thing, and as of
  https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/apt/apt.git/commit/?id=5aba189
it seems to be reasonably complete, except that build-dep does not yet complete
to directory names containing a debian/control file.

[Bug 1580174] Re: Add an activity timeout setting when plugged in

2016-05-13 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Pat, this setting would be fairly simple to design, but I don’t
understand the use case. Can you elaborate on why windowed vs. staged
would make any difference to how soon people want the display to go to
sleep? (For example, which one do you think people would usually set to
longer?)

[Bug 1565106] Re: Wifi works on W10 but not on Ub 16.04 nor 14.04

2016-05-13 Thread gerard
Another new element

My daughter's got a rather old HP PC (Compaq 6510b, released in April 2009)
which works beautifully with LTS version 10.04.
Unfortunately this version is not maintained any more, so I proposed her to
install the latest one 16.04 32b.
And same problem again, Wifi does not work.

I've got a strong suspicion that there is a major problem with wifi on
this version because:

I (or a PC integrator) have tried on PCs 64 bits UEFI
HP, Asus, Toshiba and NO wifi

I've tried on PC 32 bits non UEFI
Compaq 6510b and NO wifi

As a summary: Wifi does not work on PCs 32 or 64 bits UEFI or not
I let you conclude.

Thx for your help because it would be a pity to have to switch to W10 on
wifi because this is precisely what I would like to avoid!

[Bug 1544693] Re: [Lockscreen] Option to show user's name on the greeter

2016-05-13 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
This bug report is confusing two issues. “Show the name of the user in
the lockscreen”, is useful only if the device has multiple users. That
is very different from the feature in Android 5.0 and later and OS X
10.7 and later for displaying custom text (e.g. your contact details) on
the lock screen, which is useful even if the device has a single user.

Please reopen this bug report once you’ve decided which it is about.

[Bug 1581384] [NEW] Desktop contents displayed on resume before lock screen is shown

2016-05-13 Thread Paolo Montrasio
Public bug reported:

Following to the suggestion at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/gnome-screensaver/+bug/1280300/comments/17 I'm opening this new bug.
It's very similar, possibly a duplicate, of #1280300 and #1509711 but
apparently we have to open a bug for every desktop environment we use.

I'm on 16.04 with Gnome-Flashback Compiz, XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME-
Flashback:Unity

When I resume from sleep, the contents of my desktop (including any open
windows, emails, etc) are displayed onscreen briefly before the unlock
screen is shown. This potentially allows an attacker to view the
contents of a locked screen.

To reproduce:
1) Suspend a machine, e.g. by closing the lid
2) Resume the machine

Expected results:
Upon resume, the first thing shown onscreen is the screensaver unlock screen.

Actual results:
Upon resume, the first thing shown onscreen is the set of open windows that
were displayed before the machine was put to sleep. After a second or two, the
unlock screen is drawn and you have to enter a password to unlock the machine.

This is reproducible on my system.

[Bug 1280300] Re: Desktop contents displayed on resume, before lock screen is shown

2016-05-13 Thread Paolo Montrasio
This bug started happening on my laptop after installing 16.04. With
12.04 there never was any problem and I never had this problem with an
older laptop, from 8.04 to 15.10.

I'm running XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME-Flashback:Unity

Given the suggestion at #17 I'll open a new bug for that DE. Everybody
should open a new bug for the DE you use.

[Bug 1307069] Re: gpu-manager causing long startup delays

2016-05-13 Thread Jeremy Graham-Cumming
This seems to still be present in 16.04. I'm experiencing very slow boot
because of gpu-manager - from systemd-analyze:

gpu-manager.service (50.583s)

Any thoughts?

[Bug 1576726] Re: [SRU]network-manager

2016-05-13 Thread Philip Muškovac
@Aron: No, it doesn't. But now I found out that it's not NM's fault but
caused by a strict "1.2.0" version check in nmqt which is supposed to
remove some API for 1.2, but ofc. didn't catch 1.1.93. I'm talking to
upstream how to resolve that, but this bug can proceed fine.
