[Bug 1581151] Re: Time to drop 69-language-selector-zh-??.conf?
For Noto Sans font, it's just for the Sans Serif family. Still for Serif fonts, we still rely on other local font sets. The fallback settings in those fontconfig files should still be needed. Japanese uses Chinese characters but with some variates. That's why a local font is preferred. Noto Sans provides all glyphs for different locale, which meets the needs. [Bug 1581272] Re: gpsd always runs in 'non-daemonised' or not at all
Your description is wrong - systemd happily handles a running gpsd in fireground mode. Also /etc/default/gpsd is not read by gpsd, but by systemd and the options are passed to gpsd. Whatever the problem is you are having, your change is not the fix for it. Please not that gpsd - by default - will not start automatically. Its start is triggered by systemd socket activation. You'll have to add an appropriate systemd config file if you want to change that - for example if you need to have systemd running at system boot. ** Changed in: gpsd (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1581272 Title: gpsd always runs in 'non-daemonised' or not at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gpsd/+bug/1581272/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@tomi0: Synaptic uses xdg-open for visiting URL's and when you set your personal default browser to chrome, root's default still remains firefox. [Bug 1581412] [NEW] [Feature Request] Razer Mouse DPI Sensitivity
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have a Razer DeathAdder gaming mouse that I like to use for both gaming and general use with Ubuntu. Unfortunately, Razer currently makes no drivers for Linux, and the DPI of the mouse is 3500. This makes it extremely sensitive to use for day-to-day things, such as navigating the desktop or browsing the Internet. There happens to be a tool called RazerCFG online that can lower the DPI of Razer peripherals. However, you need to build and install it through the console, which can be intimidating and off-putting for regular users. It would be great if either this tool could be included as an official app in Ubuntu Software, or the sensitivity of the mouse could be lowered even further than it currently can be in the Ubuntu Settings panel. It would be a small improvement that could make a big difference for Linux gamers like myself, and help encourage others to try out Ubuntu. I tested this on current xenial, and my ethernet interface does get configured via DHCP, through the "ifup -a", it's not yet getting to the NetworkManager fallback. [Bug 1565106] Re: Wifi works on W10 but not on Ub 16.04 nor 14.04
Another new element My daughter's got a rather old HP PC (Compaq 6510b, released in April 2009) which works beautifully with LTS version 10.04. Unfortunately this version is not maintained any more, so I proposed her to install the latest one 16.04 32b. And same problem again, Wifi does not work. I've got a strong suspicion that there is a major problem with wifi on this version because: I (or a PC integrator) have tried on PCs 64 bits UEFI HP, Asus, Toshiba and NO wifi I've tried on PC 32 bits non UEFI Compaq 6510b and NO wifi As a summary: Wifi does not work on PCs 32 or 64 bits UEFI or not I let you conclude. Thx for your help because it would be a pity to have to switch to W10 on wifi because this is precisely what I would like to avoid! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1565106 Title: Wifi works on W10 but not on Ub 16.04 nor 14.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1565106/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1544693] Re: [Lockscreen] Option to show user's name on the greeter
This bug report is confusing two issues. “Show the name of the user in the lockscreen”, is useful only if the device has multiple users. That is very different from the feature in Android 5.0 and later and OS X 10.7 and later for displaying custom text (e.g. your contact details) on the lock screen, which is useful even if the device has a single user. [Bug 1581384] [NEW] Desktop contents displayed on resume before lock screen is shown
Public bug reported: Following to the suggestion at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /gnome-screensaver/+bug/1280300/comments/17 I'm opening this new bug. It's very similar, possibly a duplicate, of #1280300 and #1509711 but apparently we have to open a bug for every desktop environment we use. I'm on 16.04 with Gnome-Flashback Compiz, XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME- Flashback:Unity When I resume from sleep, the contents of my desktop (including any open windows, emails, etc) are displayed onscreen briefly before the unlock screen is shown. This potentially allows an attacker to view the contents of a locked screen. To reproduce: 1) Suspend a machine, e.g. by closing the lid 2) Resume the machine Expected results: Upon resume, the first thing shown onscreen is the screensaver unlock screen. Actual results: Upon resume, the first thing shown onscreen is the set of open windows that were displayed before the machine was put to sleep. After a second or two, the unlock screen is drawn and you have to enter a password to unlock the machine. This is reproducible on my system. $ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. [Bug 1576726] Re: [SRU]network-manager
@Aron: No, it doesn't. But now I found out that it's not NM's fault but caused by a strict "1.2.0" version check in nmqt which is supposed to remove some API for 1.2, but ofc. didn't catch 1.1.93.
