[Bug 1599738] [NEW] Missing GPS on/off setting
Public bug reported: This problem appeared after installing OTA-11 on my BQ Aquaris 4.5. Previously, I could activate and deactivate GPS in the Battery settings dialog. Now, I can only find Wi-Fi and Bluetooth there. I believe that shortly after installing the OTA-11, I could sometimes find the GPS setting there. A reboot does not bring the setting back. It might be that the GPS is working. The phone had a fix on a location that I visited after the update, but it could have also been from the HERE location services. Could this be a hardware problem? ** Affects: ubuntu-system-settings (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1599738 Title: Missing GPS on/off setting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-system-settings/+bug/1599738/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1598503] Re: [needs-packaging] xfdashboard
1. I recommend bumping your version number to 0.6.0-0ubuntu2 so that it's clearly higher than the PPA. Please set your version from 'devel' to UNRELEASED. Please mention that this upload is the initial upload to Ubuntu and cite this bug. Optionally, you could clear the old changelog entries since they were never "in Ubuntu". 2. Please move usr/lib/*/pkgconfig to libxfdashboard-dev.install You'll need to set breaks/replaces for the move. [1] [2] 3. Look in libxfdashboard.pc at the Requires: line. You need to add the associated -dev packages to libxfdasboard-dev's Depends. 4. Debug packages are created automatically now in Ubuntu and Debian [3] If you care about upgrading users who may have the old debug packages installed, see [4] On the other hand, that dh_strip option will not work in Ubuntu 14.04. 5. You don't need to disable silent rules, this is the default in Debian and Ubuntu now. [5] (not the default for 14.04 but hopefully you won't need it there) 6. I would like you to use a .symbols file. [6] To make the initial file, touch libxfdashboard0.symbols then build. In your build log, you'll get a warning: dpkg-gensymbols: warning: new libraries appeared in the symbols file: libxfdashboard.so.0 Paste the + lines under that into your .symbols file. Remove the + from the beginning of each line and the -0ubuntu* from the end of each line. That's it. When a new update adds new symbols, just add them to your .symbols file (leaving off the Debian/Ubuntu revision number from the end). An update should not remove symbols without bumping the soname. 7. Mark xfdashboard Multi-Arch: foreign and libxfdashboard-dev Multi- Arch: same I am unsubscribing ubuntu-sponsors for now. Please go ahead and re- subscribe when you're ready. -- [1] https://www.netfort.gr.jp/~dancer/column/libpkg-guide/libpkg-guide.html#id249952 The Debian Maintainer's Guide cautiously recommends the above, noting it's "somewhat outdated" https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/maint-guide/advanced.html [2] https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html#s-replaces [3] https://wiki.debian.org/AutomaticDebugPackages [4] https://anonscm.debian.org/git/pkg-vala/libgee.git/commit/?id=abb032 [5] https://bugs.debian.org/680686 [6] https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/maint-guide/advanced.html#librarysymbols ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #680686 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=680686 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1598503 Title: [needs-packaging] xfdashboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1598503/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 1584284] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 LiveCD does not boot on AMD A10 chip
Luckily I had a 32 GB SanDisk USB 3.0 flash drive on hand (the one that was farkled by trying to upgrade 15.10 to 16.04), so I installed 15.10 on it and upgraded. I didn't add any programs, so this is vanilla 15.10. I followed the instructions at the link you gave and successfully installed the mainline kernel 4.6-rc6. Restarting, I successfully used the new kernel to boot into 15.10. I don't have any complex programs other than Mozilla Firefox to run on this installation, but it seems to be working fine. Apparently the problem is not in the kernel. On Tue, Jul 5, 2016 at 6:15 PM, Christopher M. [Bug 1590688] Re: clamav-daemon doesn't start after installation
There was no response by Debian yet, so I decided to carry a fix for #1 as delta for now to get rid of the regression. THe patch is relatively straight forward which is good as we want to SRU into Xenial as well. It passed all my build and adt tests, also it showed to fix the issue when tested in a lxd container. I'm gonna attach a debdiff for yakkety and xenial. I also prepare a SRU template right away, so when yakkety is fully accepted one can sponsor xenial as well without waiting for me (other than subscribing the SRU Team then). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1590688 Title: clamav-daemon doesn't start after installation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/clamav/+bug/1590688/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1590688] Re: clamav-daemon doesn't start after installation
** Description changed: + [Impact] + + * Installing clamav the user expects things start to run + * Naturally the daemon can only run after the virus-database is updated + (conditions in systemd service) + * But the freshclam service to update the virus-db is not starting either +since the move to systemd (Regression to old behavior) + + [Test Case] + + * (enable proposed if needed) + * apt-get install clamav-freshclam + * systemctl status clamav-freshclam.service + * this should show "active" (fixed) and not just "loaded" (broken) + + [Regression Potential] + + * The fix is fairly straightforward so there shouldn't be a lot. But it +affects postinst and while not changing, it has to move some code there +and might affect something in postinst I missed to think about. + + * It worked for adt in Y & X and for my manual tests in LXD containers +fine + + [Other Info] + + * This is (intentionally) only addressing the regression for now. +Once fixed we think of splitting the part of auto-starting clamav- +daemon later on once the DB is ready + + + Steps to reproduce: 1. Fresh 16.04 Server installation 2. "sudo apt-get install clamav-daemon clamav-freshclam" 3. [Bug 1598968] Re: Blurry album art
Victor: are you sure this is a thumbnailer problem? When playing around with music-app, the one place where large cover art is displayed is in the "now playing" screen. Looking at the source code, this corresponds to NowPlayingFullView.qml: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~music-app-dev/music- app/trunk/view/head:/app/components/NowPlayingFullView.qml That code shows an intentionally blurred background image, with a CoverGrid over the top showing the album art. Looking at CoverGrid.qml, you're requesting thumbnails of at most 512x512: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~music-app-dev/music- app/trunk/view/head:/app/components/CoverGrid.qml#L68 On devices with high resolution screens like the Meizu MX4, this looks like it is going to be blowing up a down scaled version of the artwork. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1598968 Title: Blurry album art To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/music-app/+bug/1598968/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1599240] Re: SRU: update nuitka to the version from yakkety (python 3.5 fixes)
While this is a leaf package and thus does not jeopardize other packages, the test plan should still include some actual functionality test of nuitka. E. g. some example python file which then gets compiled with the current and the proposed nuitka, and then making sure that they behave the same. This doesn't need to be elaborate, as nuitka has unit tests -- but it doesn't have an autopkgtest integration test, so we should still make sure that the packaging is okay. ** Also affects: nuitka (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: nuitka (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released ** Changed in: nuitka (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: nuitka (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: Incomplete => Fix Committed ** Tags added: verification-needed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1599240 Title: SRU: update nuitka to the version from yakkety (python 3.5 fixes) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nuitka/+bug/1599240/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1599775] [NEW] "low-graphics mode" in VirtualBox guest, but X server running
Public bug reported: I sometimes get the "low-graphics mode" message when starting an Ubuntu 16.04 virtual machine inside of VirtualBox (current development code trunk, somewhere past version 5.1 beta 3 and a debug build). When I switch to VT-7 I find the X server running without any visible issues (I am the upstream developer of the guest graphics drivers, so I have a reasonable but not infallible understanding of the X server). The virtual machine has Guest Additions installed, same vintage and also a debug build. Two screens are enabled as is 3D acceleration. The host system is also Ubuntu 16.04. I am still trying to work out what triggers the message, but in my last attempts a cold boot failed to produce it, while a clean reboot did, but only when the host system was not under load (under load as in building VirtualBox). Searching the lightdm log files led me to the message "CRITICAL **: session_get_login1_session_id: assertion 'session != NULL' failed", which in turn led me to this similar-looking Debian bug: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=814760 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: lightdm 1.18.1-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-28.47-generic 4.4.13 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-28-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Thu Jul 7 10:49:27 2016 InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-06-08 (28 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160420.1) SourcePackage: lightdm UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: lightdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1599775 Title: "low-graphics mode" in VirtualBox guest, but X server running To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1599775/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1554509] Re: Screen remains black after resume from hibernation
No, the hibernation takes place correctly and shuts the computer down. As I restarted it, resuming worked correctly except for the transient graphical glitch. On a side note, yesterday evening my graphics card produced more and more glitches and then simply crashed (it is to be replaced ; computer does not boot with it anymore). So the violet line glitch I mentioned earlier may just have been the beginning of that, and be not related to the hibernation cycle at all. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1554509 Title: Screen remains black after resume from hibernation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1554509/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1599775] Re: "low-graphics mode" in VirtualBox guest, but X server running
Just checked, I do not have that message in the current log file, attached the file from yesterday containing the message. I asked about this on #ubuntu-devel, here are the relevant logs: (17:09:06) michael-vb: Afternoon. Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but someone will probably know what is. (17:09:06) michael-vb: I have the following problem with my VirtualBox Ubuntu 16.04 guest with development Guest Additions installed: when I start the guest I get the message "The system is running in low-graphics mode" (on VT 2) even though the X server is running fine (on VT 7). (17:09:06) michael-vb: I would very much like to know exactly what logic triggers that message so I can work out why I am triggering it and change whatever is responsible (I am the developer of the VirtualBox guest driver and Additions installer). (18:04:34) michael-vb: Interesting - I just booted the guest system twice with a loaded host (rebuilding VirtualBox) and did not get the "low-graphics mode" message. (18:27:01) michael-vb: CRITICAL: session_get_login1_session_id: assertion 'session != NULL' failed in the lightdm log file. (18:31:13) michael-vb: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=814760 (09:57:21) sladen: michael-vb: http://askubuntu.com/questions/141606/how-to-fix-the-system-is-running-in-low-graphics-mode-error (09:57:35) michael-vb: Found that already. (09:57:50) michael-vb: I am wanting to understand this as a developer, not as a user. (09:59:07) michael-vb: sladen: it was following from that askubuntu question that I found the system log entry. (09:59:34) michael-vb: The session clearly gets started just after lightdm checks whether it is running. (10:01:04) michael-vb: As I said, this does not happen under high load. I suppose the question is, who would understand this stuff well enough to tell me how I can avoid triggering it. (10:01:15) michael-vb: Or what causes the session to start too late, or lightdm too early. (10:03:00) michael-vb: I assume that some dependency is not specified well enough somewhere. (10:03:31) sladen: michael-vb: apt-get source lightdm && grep -r "Error message" is probably the most effective way of identifing the logic causing the error (if it is coming from lightdm) (10:03:31) michael-vb: But it is annoying, because if it hits users they will blame us first, not you! (10:04:15) sladen: michael-vb: I'm not too familiar with the inner workings of lightdm; the developer was Robert Ancell in the DX team (10:04:57) sladen: michael-vb: if it's happening so of the time (seemingly randomly), then there's probably a race condition (10:06:33) michael-vb: I'm sort of suspecting that it is related to the change to systemd which upset some expectation in lightdm. (10:08:13) sladen: willcooke: if you're around later, could you get in contact with michael-vb (upstream developer of VirtualBox guest driver), about debugging and resolving the "The system is running in low-graphics mode" message. https://irclogs.ubuntu.com/2016/07/07/%23ubuntu-devel.html#t07:52 onwards (10:08:50) michael-vb: willcooke: and michael dot thayer at oracle if I am not on IRC at that time. (10:08:56) michael-vb: sladen, willcooke: thanks. (10:10:59) willcooke: Trevinho, is this something you can help with? ^ (10:11:09) willcooke: It looks like it's a problem with X rather than Unity though (10:11:13) willcooke: "problem" (10:11:22) willcooke: maybe tjaalton knows what triggers it? ^ (10:13:46) talatb [~talatb@137.158.22.10] entered the room. (10:14:23) tjaalton: I don't, if lightdm is randomly not starting on debian (which doesn't have "failsafe-x") (10:15:20) tjaalton: sounds like a lightdm bug to me (10:16:59) willcooke: oki (10:17:04) willcooke: thanks tjaalton (10:30:07) willcooke: michael-vb, Hmm, I can't see anything obvious here. Please log a bug in Ubuntu against lightdm if there isn't already one, and we take take a look. (10:30:54) michael-vb: willcooke: to me it sounds like an init dependency problem. (10:31:18) sladen: michael-vb: can we get as much of the (known good) information into a Launchpad bug report (10:31:34) michael-vb: If I understood all this GNOME-systemd-login stuff better... (10:31:41) michael-vb: sladen: sounds reasonable. (10:31:44) sladen: michael-vb: and then get that linked to/from the debbugs and Askubuntu pages (10:33:25) michael-vb: Oh how nice, for reasons unknown I can no longer trigger it. (10:33:34) willcooke: \o/ (10:33:47) willcooke: fixed! (10:34:00) willcooke: certainly smells like a race then (10:34:23) michael-vb: I think that is clear enough from the Debian bug. (10:34:47) michael-vb: I think that someone from the systemd camp would be best placed to solve it. (10:36:07) michael-vb: But before I open a bug report I will at least try to track down the error in the lightdm sources. (10:39:45) sladen: yes, it would be good to point in the bug report exactly where the origin of the assert is coming from, but if it can't

[Bug 1553503] Re: multi monitors - black flashes or black screen when the mouse cursor leaves a monitor
Confirming this, using a Dell Latitude E5510 with Intel HD Graphics (on- chip), together with a docking station PR02X and a two-monitor-setup (2x BenQ GW2460, 1920x1080, DVI). The problem occurs most of the time when scrolling in a full screen application on the left screen using the scroll bar (click the bar and move the mouse) while the mouse coursor leaves the screen during the scroll. This gives me a flackering or one of the screen goes black with a little random noise on the leftest ~50 pixels of the screen. This issue is new to me after upgrading from 14.04 with latest kernel 4.2 patches to 16.04 with kernel 4.4.0-28-generic. This issue is a regression as I'm still using exactly the same hardware. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1553503 Title: multi monitors - black flashes or black screen when the mouse cursor leaves a monitor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1553503/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
