Today (September 2016) clean install Ubuntu Gnome 16.04.01

(I've worked on this a bit, but it got stalled, sorry). I think that is

I got hit by this after running "apt update" this morning - I noticed
Unity was one of the packages updated.
I discovered a workaround on Ask Ubuntu:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/819585/workplace-switcher-stopped-
working-in-ubuntu-16-04 which led me to this bug. The work-around works
for me.

Do you have some references/proof for that? This is contrary to what
kernel developers say, see comment 1.
