2016-12-19 Thread Aron Xu
@jbicha, current implementation is to disable verification for the dkms

alternative way would be assisting users sign the built modules (which
has key management problem). I'm not quite sure which way is preferred
in upstream and/or Debian.

[Bug 1650900] Re: UHD TV resolution changed unintendly to FHD

2016-12-19 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I have experienced the same resolution fallback weirdness with multiple
devices over the years. In all cases the problem was either a poor
quality HDMI cable or a poor quality connection at one end of the cable.

Please try unplugging both ends of the cable/adapter and check them for
dirt or bent pins. Plug everything back in firmly and try again. If the
problem persists then you should try a new HDMI cable and DP adapter.

I think nvidia-367 is where this should be logged. Although even when
bugs do affect multiple packages, you should maintain a single bug
report and just add those multiple packages to its task list (up the
top).

[Bug 1651294] Re: [Lenovo IdeaCentre A540] Doesn't poweroff on shutdown

2016-12-19 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Nicolas K, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

In order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue, at your
earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream kernel
available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ? Please
keep in mind the following:
1) The one to test is at the very top line at the top of the page (not the
daily folder).
2) The release names are irrelevant.
3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was
released upstream.
4) Install instructions are available at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds .

If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may:
1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there.
2) Backup, or clone the primary install.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue.
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is
the release candidate number if it exists.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Also, you don't need to apport-collect further unless specifically
requested to do so.

It is most helpful that after testing of the latest upstream kernel is
complete, you mark this report Status Confirmed.

Lastly, to keep this issue relevant to upstream, please continue to test
the latest mainline kernel as it becomes available.

Thank you for your help.

** Description changed:

- (Please forgive the length of this post, I hope this may be useful to
- other owners of similar computers)
-
- *Description*
-
- After switching from Lubuntu 15.10 to Lubuntu 16.04, I cannot shutdown my
(Lenovo A540) computer anymore. The Lubuntu logout screen hangs indefinitely
and doesn't react to any (well, at least Ctrl+Backspace, Ctrl+Alt+Fn, Ctrl+D
and Ctrl+Alt+Del) keyboard key combination.
+ After switching from Lubuntu 15.10 to Lubuntu 16.04, I cannot shutdown my
(Lenovo A540) computer anymore. The Lubuntu logout screen hangs indefinitely
and doesn't react to most keyboard combinations.
I thus have to press the power button for a few (~5) seconds in order to shut
it down.

- I didn't have this problem with Lubuntu 15.10, and don't have it with
- Windows 10 (dual boot), hence I believe it is software-related.
-
- *Context*
-
- Some context may shed some light about my configuration tweaks.
- I experienced the following problems with my Lenovo A540:
-
- 0. I can't see GRUB after installing Lubuntu (true for both Lubuntu
- 15.10 and 16.04)
-
- Doc:
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/Unable-to-select-UEFI-Legacy-Boot-in-BIOS-Startup-ThinkPad-T540p/td-p/1670487
- Fix: disable secure boot and then toggle "CSM" depending on the OS I want to
use:
- * with CSM enabled, windows bootloader is "chosen" (maybe because it is on
the first partition) a
- * with CSM disabled, GRUB is loaded. I can select between Linux kernel 4.2 or
4.4 (either in regular or recovery mode) or windows, but selecting Windows 10
will give me an error as CSM must be enabled.
-
- 1. After upgrading to Lubuntu 16.04 (kernel 4.4.0.35), Linux does not boot
anymore.
- Doc: tracked in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1463422
- Fix: add "acpi=noirq" boot parameter
- Cmd: sudo sed -i s/GRUB_CMDINE_LINUX=""/GRUB_CMDINE_LINUX="acpi=noirq"
/etc/default/grub && sudo update-grub
-
- 2. After upgrading to Lubuntu 16.04, the wifi chipset not recognized
- Doc: see for instance
http://askubuntu.com/questions/71159/network-manager-says-device-not-managed
- Fix: use driver r8723au, not rtl8xxxu
- Commands:
- su - ;
- echo blacklist rtl8xxxu >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf;
- rmmod rtl8xxxu;
- service networking restart;
-
-
- 3. After upgrading to Lubuntu 16.04, the names of network interfaces are not
meaningful
- Doc:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/767786/changing-network-interfaces-name-ubuntu-16-04
- Fix: Add a couple of other boot parameters, "net.iframes=0 biosdevname=0"
- Cmd: see point 1) and tweak it a bit
- (so, at this point my GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX is "acpi=noirq net.ifnames=0
biosdevname=0")

[Bug 1574667] Re: Mouse pointer occasionally jumps to the bottom-left corner

2016-12-19 Thread Jeff
I can also confirm this happens on a Lenovo X230; when clicking the
touchpad, the cursor will sometimes move to the lower left corner.
Changing finger pressure in synaptic, turning off tap-to-click does not
stop this behavior. Lowering sensitivity to it's lowest setting in
Touchpad Properties does not solve it either. It is apparent with any
distribution based on Ubuntu 16.04, however the touchpad works fine with
Elementary OS, and Fedora 25.

[Bug 1637917] Re: rosegarden 16.06 plays only first note, locks up PC when trying to use HR timer

Mark, given the upstream fix patch was merged into 4.9, and
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ was rebased to this, it
wouldn't hurt to confirm that the latest Ubuntu fixes the issue.

[Bug 1651314] [NEW] libastylej-jni uses wrong Multi-Arch install directory

2016-12-19 Thread James Wilson
Public bug reported:

According to https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=712567,
the Multi-Arch install directory for JNI libs is /usr/lib//jni

The libastylej-jni.install and libastylej-jni.links files in the
2.05.1-0ubuntu1 debian packaging incorrectly use /usr/lib/jni/.

I replaced libastylej-jni.install with
#! /usr/bin/dh-exec
build/gcc/bin/libastyle-2.05.1j.so usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}/jni

and libastylej-jni.links with
#! /usr/bin/dh-exec --with-scripts=subst-multiarch
usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}/jni/libastyle-2.05.1j.so
usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}/jni/libastylej.so

and confirmed that that openjdk will load it with /usr/lib/jni on
java.library.path.

[Bug 1448418] Re: Logout not working in Cairo Dock

2016-12-19 Thread miguelquiros
Hello again. I think I have found a better workaround. First install the
package dconf-editor if not already installed. Then open a terminal and type
dconf-editor.
Navigate to apps -> indicator-session and check the box
"supress-logout-restart-shutdown".
Close dconf-editor and since then, I have a working logout option (without
confirmation dialogue of course).
It worked for me. Hope it also works for other.

[Bug 1649668] Re: PCI/internal sound card not detected Acer Aspire E5-575 Intel Corporation Device 9d71

2016-12-19 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Chris D'Italia, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better

[Bug 776714] Re: Compilation artists should not be listed in artists view separately

2016-12-19 Thread Piedro Kulman
That's really bad. There should be a simple config file to adjust which
tag is used for each view.

But, well, the tag "albumartistsort" for the album and "artistsort" for
the single track artist exactly do what you and the librarian are
worried about - listing "Mike Oldfield" as "Oldfield, Mike" and "The
Beatles" as "Beatles, The" "The Drunken Sailors" as "Drunken Sailors,
The"...

Which still doesn't solve the capital letter issue...

BTW: If you autotag with the Musicbrainz Database these aren't created
automatically but edited by users. Check out the Musicbrainz Picard
program - it's free and does all that (heavily customizable by settings
and plugins)... yeah, you probably knew about it anyway, I get a bit
offtopic here in an official bug report... (but who care's... it's not
maintained anyway...)

Cheers, p.

[Bug 1651294] [NEW] [Lenovo IdeaCentre A540] Doesn't poweroff on shutdown

2016-12-19 Thread Nicolas K
Public bug reported:

(Please forgive the length of this post, I hope this may be useful to
other owners of similar computers)

*Description*

After switching from Lubuntu 15.10 to Lubuntu 16.04, I cannot shutdown my
(Lenovo A540) computer anymore. The Lubuntu logout screen hangs indefinitely
and doesn't react to any (well, at least Ctrl+Backspace, Ctrl+Alt+Fn, Ctrl+D
and Ctrl+Alt+Del) keyboard key combination.
I thus have to press the power button for a few (~5) seconds in order to shut
it down.

I didn't have this problem with Lubuntu 15.10, and don't have it with
Windows 10 (dual boot), hence I believe it is software-related.

*Context*

Some context may shed some light about my configuration tweaks.
I experienced the following problems with my Lenovo A540:

0. I can't see GRUB after installing Lubuntu (true for both Lubuntu
15.10 and 16.04)

Doc:
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/Unable-to-select-UEFI-Legacy-Boot-in-BIOS-Startup-ThinkPad-T540p/td-p/1670487
Fix: disable secure boot and then toggle "CSM" depending on the OS I want to
use:
* with CSM enabled, windows bootloader is "chosen" (maybe because it is on the
first partition) a
* with CSM disabled, GRUB is loaded. I can select between Linux kernel 4.2 or
4.4 (either in regular or recovery mode) or windows, but selecting Windows 10
will give me an error as CSM must be enabled.

1. After upgrading to Lubuntu 16.04 (kernel 4.4.0.35), Linux does not boot
anymore.
Doc: tracked in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1463422
Fix: add "acpi=noirq" boot parameter
Cmd: sudo sed -i s/GRUB_CMDINE_LINUX=""/GRUB_CMDINE_LINUX="acpi=noirq"
/etc/default/grub && sudo update-grub

2. After upgrading to Lubuntu 16.04, the wifi chipset not recognized
Doc: see for instance
http://askubuntu.com/questions/71159/network-manager-says-device-not-managed
Fix: use driver r8723au, not rtl8xxxu
Commands:
su - ;
echo blacklist rtl8xxxu >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf;
rmmod rtl8xxxu;
service networking restart;

3. After upgrading to Lubuntu 16.04, the names of network interfaces are not
meaningful
Doc:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/767786/changing-network-interfaces-name-ubuntu-16-04
Fix: Add a couple of other boot parameters, "net.iframes=0 biosdevname=0"
Cmd: see point 1) and tweak it a bit
(so, at this point my GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX is "acpi=noirq net.ifnames=0
biosdevname=0")

[Bug 1649048] Re: "Power off" required for resume from hybrid-sleep

2016-12-19 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Steven Ward, the next step is to fully commit bisect from kernel 4.4 to
4.8 in order to identify the last good kernel commit, followed
immediately by the first bad one. This will allow for a more expedited
analysis of the root cause of your issue. Could you please do this
following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ?

Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit
bisecting.

Also, the kernel release names are irrelevant for the purposes of
bisecting.

It is most helpful that after the fix commit (not kernel version) has
been identified, you then mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your help.

[Bug 1649736] Re: unity picks poor hidpi scale factor defaults

2016-12-19 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
No it didn't change how it pick the default scaling, it only scales
widgets to make what you described in comment #4 works better.

As you mentioned, GTK+3 does not support 1/8 increments, so if we just
want everything in widgets to scale proportionally to the 1x scale, we
should use integer scaling only.

[Bug 1651216] Re: Lubuntu 16.10 64bit installation crash at partition step

2016-12-19 Thread Me :)
I actually succeeded in performing the installation, with the media I had.
I already check the integrity of the iso I downloaded and it was OK.
The onlly thing I changed in the way of installing is that I used gparted prior
to launching the installation to erase all partition I could have on my disk.
(booting on the Live CD)
Then the installation occured without any issue.

What may caused the problem is that the 1st partition was actually a
"backup" one, used by the manufacturer

[Bug 1649699] Re: problemas ssd kingston

You appear to be trying to install to an existing ext4 partition that is
corrupt. You will need to repair it with e2fsck or reformat it. Also
you seem to be using a fake raid and I would recommend against that.

[Bug 1650522] Re: walinuxagent 2.1.5 needs to have AutoUpdate On

2016-12-19 Thread Jose L. VG
We have tested a new package version for yakkety both installing manually and
in a test image:
https://josvaz.blob.core.windows.net/shared/Ubuntu_DAILY_BUILD-yakkety-16_10-amd64-server-20161214-wala215-autoupdate-1482143205-en-us-30GB

Please, do test the above image from the Azure side as well.

So far our tests are good and we are to start the SRU process for
yakkety shortly.

For xenial & trusty we anticipate the chaneg is the same, so we plan to
keep them moving in paralel, a bit delayed after yakkety. Our curretn
estimate is to enter SRU with them this week.
