Title:
kernel 4.4.0-63 with
The IP workaround doesn't work because archive.ubuntu.com is a virutal
host (ie it needs the Host: header in the HTTP request). What I did to
work around that was add this to my preseed.cfg. Adjust as needed
d-i preseed/early_command string echo "91.189.88.161 archive.ubuntu.com"
>> /etc/hosts &&
At this point what I can see is that this was an issue on daily Lubuntu
images and has been solved there.
What is left is the 16.10 release image for Lubuntu was pointing to
grub-common, but that is insufficient to properly pick up grub-pc and
grub-pc-bin on the image as is needed, especially
Firmware changes did not help, but the following doubled my speed from
20mbps to 40mbps (still 50% lower than what I got in Windows 7):
vi /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf
Change line to
wifi.powersave = 2
echo "options iwlwifi 11n_disable=8" | sudo tee
