[Bug 1351772] Re: "disable touchpad while typing" doesn't work
@Christopher, On Thinkpad T450s, there is only one trackpad device in xinput, and it's a PS/2 device. So, Thinkpad T450s does not need this workaround solution. The workaround solution is to block the PS/2 trackpad device. That's why the workaround solution make your trackpad lost function. I think I need add more condition in the workaround package. I borrowed a thinkpad X250, the xinput is similar with yours beside the Wacom Bamboo 2FG and the touchscreen. When I am typing, the 'tap to click' is disabled. So, I won't be interrupt by palm when I typing. For your case, I have no idea what causes the "disable tap while typing" function fail. Another thing, the "disable touchpad while typing" option is removed. Currently, the actual behavior is "disable 'tap to click' while typing". [Bug 1624317] Re: systemd-resolved breaks VPN with split-horizon DNS
>From the Debian man pages, it seems like this is not in fact a problem of systemd itself, as it allows for domain routing exclusively for dns servers on a single interface using the routing-only domain. My patch effectively just tells the NetworkManager to make a systemd bus call for the routing-only domain when the connection is a vpn tun or tap link. In fact, this feature of systemd, the routing-only domain, is a marked improvement from the glibc API, which has no equivalent concept of dns servers limited to a system link. The SetLinkDomains method of the systemd-resolved API allows for this behavior. >From SYSTEMD.NETWORK(5): "The "routing-only" domain "~." (the tilde indicating definition of a routing domain, the dot referring to the DNS root domain which is the implied suffix of all valid DNS names) has special effect. It causes all DNS traffic which does not match another configured domain routing entry to be routed to DNS servers specified for this interface. This setting is useful to prefer a certain set of DNS servers if a link on which they are connected is available. This setting is read by systemd-resolved.service(8). "Search domains" correspond to the domain and search entries in resolv.conf(5). Domain name routing has no equivalent in the traditional glibc API, which has no concept of domain name servers limited to a specific link." -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1624317 Title: systemd-resolved breaks VPN with split-horizon DNS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/systemd/+bug/1624317/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1696066] [NEW] Postfix module - Mailman wrapper - Couldn't write data/aliases.db and data/virtual-mailman.db files
Public bug reported: Dear project leader At least in version 2.1.23, there is a bug regarding permissions set for Mailman data/aliases table and Mailman data/virtual-mailman map when these files are created from scratch. Here I describe the current behavior for the Mailman data/aliases table only but the problem is identical for the Mailman data/virtual-mailman map. In order, the following conditions have to be met: - Postfix need read access to the aliases.db file - Mailman like to be owner of those files and the Mailman group needs write access to them I. Postfix needs a read access to the aliases.db file We can either set permissions as 0660 and add postfix user to mailman group (what I've done), or set the permissions as 0664 II. Mailman group needs a write access to those files at any time The following behavior has been observed: When creating a new list on command line, using bin/newlist script as follow: # newlist -u virtualhost foobar the files will be created as follow: -rw-rw 1 root list aliases -rw-r- 1 root list aliases.db The same thing has been observed when recreating the file from scratch using bin/genaliases: -rw-rw 1 root list aliases -rw-r- 1 root list aliases.db Note that in both cases, files were not present. Thus, they were created from scratch. As you can see here, the Mailman data/aliases table is created with the expected group and permissions but the data/aliases.db file is only writable by owner. From the POSTALIAS(1) command point of view, that is the expected behavior: The file is created with the same group and other read permissions as their source file. The problem here is that with those permissions, creating a list through Mailman interface later on will result in a permissions denied error because the Mailman group, through the wrapper, cannot write (update) the aliases.db file (no write permissions). That is really a problem. Of course, one can just pre-create the files as follow: # cd /var/lib/mailman # sg list -c "touch data/aliases && postalias data/aliases" # chmod 0660 data/aliases* but that seem tedious. What if at some point (for any reason), the files get recreated from scratch? So, from my point of view, the MTA/Postfix.py module should always set correct permissions on resulting *.db file, after running POSTALIAS(1) command to be sure that Mailman group has write permissions, at least when the files are created from scratch. Thank you. ** Affects: mailman Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: mailman (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: mailman (Debian) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Dear project leader At least in version 2.1.23, there is a bug regarding permissions set for Mailman data/aliases table and Mailman data/virtual-mailman map when these file get created from scratch and which I describe below for the Mailman data/aliases table only but the problem is identical for the Mailman data/virtual-mailman map. So e.g. if one has installed the cinnamon-desktop-environment in a 'ubuntu-minimal' environment, installing applets via the ccc's 'applet' settings "dialog" from online store will fail, because 'msgfmt' gets called (at least for the one's I tried), which results into an 'No such file or Directory' error (which isn't very useful for the user to determine the real problem BTW). [Bug 1694625] Re: KVM Guest loses network connectivity under heavy load
1) It seems to happen every night (which is when the Ceph cluster is most used). Not sure if it's at a specific time or whether anything else could be interacting with it - I'll see if I can narrow this down. I'm trying to run some tests to see whether I can force it to happen by throwing a lot of traffic at it (using iperf3 - if you have better suggestions on how to generate load please let me know). 2) As above, trying network benchmark tool to see if it triggers. If not, I'll specifically push load through Ceph to see if I can reliably re-trigger the failure. 3) I thought the initial report was about virtio network with the suggestion that e1000 might solve it but would bring it's own issues with it. I am currently on virtio, but may change over to e1000 to see if the problem persists. Ideally wouldn't want this as a long term solution as I have previously found e1000 to be slower. 4) Couldn't see anything in the logs on either the host or the guest suggesting that there was anything going on. [Bug 1696066] Re: Postfix module - Mailman wrapper - Couldn't write data/aliases.db and data/virtual-mailman.db files
** Description changed: Dear project leader At least in version 2.1.23, there is a bug regarding permissions set for Mailman data/aliases table and Mailman data/virtual-mailman map when these files are created from scratch. So, from my point of view, the MTA/Postfix.py module should always set correct permissions on resulting *.db file, after running POSTALIAS(1) command to be sure that Mailman group has write permissions, at least - when the files are created from scratch. + when the files are created from scratch. Eg: + + IF NOT EXISTS aliases: +Touch data/aliases data/aliases.db with correct permissions (066x) +Add alias entries into aliases as usually +Run POSTALIAS(1) command as usually + + Then, we are fine. Thank you. ** Description changed: Dear project leader At least in version 2.1.23, there is a bug regarding permissions set for Mailman data/aliases table and Mailman data/virtual-mailman map when these files are created from scratch. [Bug 1636395] Re: dnsmasq not working with OpenVPN
Hi, I'm having exactly the same problem as described by @raffraffraff - after connection to the VPN the dnsmasq instance handled by NetworkManager no longer makes DNS queries for addresses outside the VPN (eg. google.com) but it can resolve ones internal to the VPN (eg. web- dev.myorg.private). Using DIG to make a direct DNS query to any remote DNS server works fine, so it looks like dnsmasq has got in a tizz. To add a little more info... I'm able to add a file /etc/NetworkManager/dnsmasq.d/debug containing the line "log-queries" and I can see lines in syslog like: ... dnsmasq[25056]: forwarded www.google.com to 129.215.205.191 So obviously dnsmasq is trying to process the requests but failing. I can also see dnsmasq picking up new configurations from DBUS as I connect/disconnect but there are no errors reported. I also note that dnsmasq is trying to make queries via the public DNS servers, but when connected to the VPN all the queries should go to the trusted DNS server provided on the VPN (this is discussed in bug 1639776) but I think this is a separate issue. Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS dnsmask-base 2.75-1ubuntu0.16.04.2 network-manager 1.2.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 Cheers, TIM -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1636395 Title: dnsmasq not working with OpenVPN To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/1636395/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

- As you can see here, the Mailman data/aliases table is created with the + As you can see here, the Mailman data/aliases file is created with the expected group and permissions but the data/aliases.db file is only writable by owner. So, from my point of view, the MTA/Postfix.py module should always set correct permissions on *.db file, to be sure that Mailman group has write permissions, at least when the files are created from scratch. Eg: IF NOT EXISTS aliases: Touch data/aliases data/aliases.db with correct permissions (066x) Add alias entries into aliases as usually Run POSTALIAS(1) command as usually Then, we are fine.
