@danilo, that's done now, right?

I'm going to be unblocking (hopefully) python-django from a-p today, by
uupdating' django-compat to be 1.11 ... compatible :)

[Bug 1449608] Re: Cannot add new epubs to a library

2017-08-08 Thread Joshua Bayfield
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. 15.04 reached EOL on February 4,
2016.
See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

As it appears this issue was resolved in a future version of the
package, which is released for newer versions of Ubuntu, and that the
Ubuntu version this bug affects is now EOL, I'm going to mark this issue
as Incomplete.

Do feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1708192] Re: SRU pollinate 4.25

2017-08-08 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello Scott, or anyone else affected,

Accepted pollinate into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pollinate/4.25-0ubuntu1~16.04.1 in
a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-xenial to verification-done-xenial. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-xenial. In either case, details of your
testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1642966] Re: package cups-daemon 2.1.3-4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

2017-08-08 Thread Iiro Laiho
Nope, the problem is still present in -proposed. Here's a more detailed
procedure of reproducing the bug:

- Do a clean Ubuntu install. I installed Ubuntu from the 16.04.3 desktop media
to a VirtualBox VM.
- Do a "apt update && apt upgrade" as usual
- Per the instructions from ,
do what is told in the "Selective upgrading from -proposed" section.
- Add a stuck job to the CUPS queue. My way to do this is to add a network
printer with URI "socket://0.0.0.0". As the driver I used the "Generic PCL
Laser". Now, print a test page.
- Now we should be able to pinpoint the packages we want to upgrade to
-proposed. Run command "sudo apt -t xenial-proposed install cups-daemon"
- Now we have a broken packaging system. The command "sudo apt upgrade" will
fail.

** Description changed:

So if I have sound output selected to be the intel sound on the
mainboard and turn off one of my two displays the audio out is changed
to HDMI. YES OFF it's not a typo.

The Display I turn off is connected to displayport and do not even have
HDMI. The audio is switched over to the still active display.

If I then turn the display back it's still hdmi. If I then turn off the
display that has HDMI out connected. the audio is still connected to
that display. since its actually off I hear no sound but pulseaudio
  still connect to it.

I have to manually open the GUI tool and change back to the correct
output when the display is turned off or when the display is blanked. or
  suspend/resume.

I attache the output of "pacmd list-cards && pacmd list-sinks"
  ok   -> ps_w1.txt
  fail -> ps_f1.txt

[Bug 1510731] Re: Can't use crypto in manual disk setup Kubuntu 15.10

2017-08-08 Thread GizmoChicken
I filed Bug #1523194. It deals with something a bit different, namely
being unable to place /home in its own encrypted partition when using
ext4.

Also, when I filed Bug #1523194, I originally assigned it to ubiquity,
but someone reassigned it to partman-crypto. Honestly, I'm not
convinced that it was properly reassigned. (I've forgotten the details,
but if I recall correctly, I ultimately concluded that the ubiquity was
at least partially responsible for the bug.) But what I was unable to
do with ext4 (place /home in its own encrypted partition) as reported in
Bug #1523194, I am now able to do with my preferred file system, which
is btrfs. So, because the bug was no longer relevant to me, I gave up
on Bug #1523194. (Also, a relatively easy workaround is possible for
that bug, namely moving /home to its own encrypted partition after
installation.)

But yep, based on Bug #1523194 and what has been reported here and
elsewhere, this bug (1510731) seems to be restricted to KDE's
implementation of the installer, as used by Kubuntu, KDE neon, and
Lubuntu Next (Qt-based).

As can be seen, the initial response to the KDE bug report that I filed
included the following:

"Seeing as it is a bug in ubiquity it needs fixing in ubiquity not in
neon."

And the KDE bug report had been marked to reflect that the problem was
upstream, not with KDE.

But as I see it, the problem with KDE's conclusion is the KDE installer
must, in some way, differ from the "upstream" installer used by gtk-
based distributions, including Ubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME, Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu
Budgie, etc., NONE of which suffer from this bug. That is, this bug
seems to have been introduced by KDE, either by modifying ubiquity, or
by using ubiquity-frontend-kde.

Either way, I hope the KDE folks will fix this bug. I've been testing
Kubuntu, and I hope to switch over to it as my primary distribution.
But being unable use the "create physical volume for encryption" option
during installation is a show stopper for me.

something wron. Previously I downloaded the four files and just double-
clicked on each file in file manager to install, but this time it
complained and I first had to uninstall the previous version before
trying again, with apparent success - is this the correct approach ?

[Bug 795497] Re: Ubuntu would not boot

2017-08-08 Thread Joshua Bayfield
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. 11.04 reached EOL on October 28,
2012.
See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

I've tried recreating this bug with your release and was unable to,
given the information you've provided. Please upgrade to the latest
version and re-test. If the bug is still reproducible, increase the
verbosity of the steps to recreate it so we can try again.

Do feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1709064] Re: evince doesn't start in artful beta

2017-08-08 Thread Carlo Maragno
Hi there,

I applied the fix form here [https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=827335#54] and with that evince starts BUT with a
new error, that I think it's also apparmor related:

(evince:14816): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to read the recently used
resources file at '/home/carlo/.local/share/recently-used.xbel', but the
parser failed: Failed to open file “/home/carlo/.local/share/recently-

[Bug 1709358] [NEW] Udev android rules for manufacter id 18d1 do not includes device id 4ee7

2017-08-08 Thread José Francisco Tello Ropero
Public bug reported:

After install android-tools-adb

Udev android rules for vendor id 18d1 do not includes device id 4ee7.
For example, my Nexus 4 is identified as 18d1:4ee7 using lsusb command.

70-android-tools-adb.rules must include 4ee7 as a valid device for 18d1
vendor.

Workaround is to add that rule on custom file at /etc/udev/rules.d/
until package will fixed.

[Bug 1709314] Re: Unbreak size and archive size generation of built RPMs on big-endian systems

2017-08-08 Thread Frank Heimes
"rpm" is a universe package (and quite 'alien' on Debian/Ubuntu):
$ apt-cache policy rpm
rpm:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 4.12.0.1+dfsg1-3build3
  Version table:
 4.12.0.1+dfsg1-3build3 500
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe s390 Packages
As a universe package it's community supported,
and the Ubuntu package is synch'ed over from Debian.
Hence it need to be fixed upstream and in the Debian package first.

Just as a side-note: Please keep in mind that in Ubuntu the main package
management tools are deb-packages or snaps.
Reading that rpm is used - and not knowing the exact use case - let me think
that possibly the wrong tooling is used on Ubuntu.

Standard answer for universe packages is:

This package is part of the universe section of the Ubuntu archive. Universe
packages are maintained by the community, and the maintainers do not
necessarily work for Canonical, therefore these packages are not always
directly supported by Canonical.
The existing process to update packages in the Universe archive with patches,
is as follows:
1. Upstream: Upstream your fix to the appropriate upstream project.
2. Debian: once your patch is ack’ed and accepted upstream, you need to request
a merge of this patch to the package in Debian stable.
https://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting use this link to report your issue and
submit a fix.
3. Ubuntu: Once it is merged into Debian stable, request a merge of this
package with Ubuntu. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Debian/Bugs will provide you an
overview on how to handle bugs that are reported to Debian and subsequently to
Ubuntu.
- The merge request lands by default in Ubuntu's current development release
(today ‘Artful’).
- If required an SRU may follow to get the changes into already released Ubuntu
versions (like ‘Xenial’ or ‘Zesty’).
Work with the respective upstream maintainers (Debian and Ubuntu) is required
during this process. For critical issues we can advise you as you go through
this process and help push the patches through by chasing the appropriate
project contributors.
[To find out if a package is a universe package use: apt policy .]

FEHLERMELDUNGEN BEI "PAKETAKTUALISIERUNGEN" unter Ubuntu 17.04 'Zesty

Guten Tag!

Mehr Details: Spawn of helper

(Ich habe Ubuntu 17.04 'Zesty Zapus' installiert!!!)

UND WEITERHIN DIE MELDUNG: "Alle Pakete sind auf dem neusten Stand"!!!

MEINE FRAGE:

Thanks Mattia.

I've already reworked it, and have been using it since then.

Unless this information helps with some known bug or symptom, I suggest
just ignoring it.

I can't see how to close or otherwise disposition this report, so I'll

[Bug 1636477] Re: Update trusty with landscape-client 16.03

2017-08-08 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

  Reference:
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#New_upstream_microreleases

This SRU contains minor updates for landscape-client as follow :

  - Fixed error caused by nonexistent directory on install (LP: #1546743)

  - Fixed users tab issue that caused users not to be shown anymore
  (LP:#1508110)

  - Reverted the change that introduced forced user database updates in
  the client (LP: #1532887)

  - Stopped retrying package operations if a SystemError is raised (LP:
  #1444826)

  - Restore behavior of the program exiting with a non-zero exit code in
case of error during registration (LP: #1434546)

  - Prevent backtrace during registration with inappropriate
  account/password combinations (LP: #1429888)

  - Restore the API the charm depends on, add documentation as to its
  meaning and importance (LP: #1428826)

  - Add a specific error message when the cause of registration failure is
  an SSL error. (LP: #1409700)

  - Changed the package reporter so it retries running apt-get update when
an error 100 is returned (LP: #1398090)

  - Let the landscape-client-ui show up in Ubuntu MATE

  [Test Case]

There is unfortunately no specific test cases since this is a bunch of
bugfixes to improve landscape-client for Trusty users.
+
+ General dogfooding and all tests as outlined by the QA procedures here will
have to be covered:

  [Regression Potential]

  * Potential risk is low :
   - Theses bugfixes has been proven to work for lansdcape-client Xenial and
late
   - The debdiff has been provided by the Canonical Landscape team, which IMHO
should bring even more confidence (CI verifications, ...)

  * In term of testing, the usual SRU testing (sanity check, installation,
usability, server-client scenarios using VM/container/) will be done
by the Landscape Squad within the Canonical support team.

  * In addition, the "Packaging QA" testing as described here :
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LandscapeUpdates will also be performed during
the testing phase. (see : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
  /landscape-client/+bug/1636477/comments/12)

The above should cover pretty much everything needed to make sure we
have a solid new package to release in the field (trusty-updates)

  [Other Info]

After a discussion with sil2100 (SRU verification member), explaining
him the current situation. We came to an agreement to go ahead with a
SRU + the additional Landscape testing.

  [Original Description]

We would like to get the latest changes from Landscape Client release
16.03 (as released in Xenial, Yakkety and Zesty) into Trusty

As far as released version of Ubuntu are concerned, the required pieces
of information for the needed SRU follow (as laid out in the "Procedure"
  section of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates).

=== Statement explaining the impact ===

This release adds bug-fixes that we would like all of our supported
customers (even those on Trusty) to access. The notable ones are:

  1) Bug #1546743 Fixed error caused by nonexistent directory on install
  2) Bug #1508110 Fixed users tab issue that caused users not to be shown
anymore
  3) Bug #1532887 Reverted the change that introduced forced user database
updates in the client.
  4) Bug #1444826 Stopped retrying package operations if a SystemError is raised
  5) Bug #1434546 Restore behavior of the program exiting with a non-zero exit
code in case of error during registration
  6) Bug #1429888 Prevent backtrace during registration with inappropriate
account/password combinations
  7) Bug #1428826 Restore the API the charm depends on, add documentation as to
its meaning and importance
  8) Bug #1409700 Add a specific error message when the cause of registration
failure is an SSL error.
  9) Bug #1398090 Changed the package reporter so it retries running apt-get
update when an error 100 is returned

All changes above are mentioned in the debian/changelog of the proposed
  package.

=== How the bug has been addressed ===

The fixes for all the aforementioned bugs were backported from upstream.

  === Patches ===

The patch for the new landscape-client trusty source package is attached
to this bug, and is derived from

  lp:ubuntu/trusty-updates/landscape-client

[Bug 1510731] Re: Can't use crypto in manual disk setup Kubuntu 15.10

2017-08-08 Thread Artemgy
The fact that 1523194 has been assigned to partman-crypto indicates the
underlying cause _could_ be there.

However the ubiquity-frontend-gtk does NOT suffer the symptoms that
ubiquity-frontend-kde does. Therefore I wonder if ubiquity-frontend-gtk
has been modified to accommodate, and I hope the bug you raised in the
KDE tracker gets some traction so that ubiquity-frontend-kde can also be
made to work around the underlying issue.

[Bug 1709336] [NEW] ubuntu 16 Grub2 fails to install dual boot windows 10

2017-08-08 Thread Marcelo Andrade
Public bug reported:

Trying to install Ubuntu 16 or 17 on a Dell Inspiron 7640 with a pre
installed Windows 10. Dual boot.

I'm using a gpt/uefi pen drive. Notebook setup with uefi and secure mode
on. Fast start disabled.

Tried everything: automatic installation side by side, advanced
installation with boot in the efi partition (Windows), versions 17 and
16, network connection on and off. It always abort installation at the
same point: grub2.

Thanks!

[Bug 1709317] Re: nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 304.135-0ubuntu3 ADT test failure with linux 4.12.0-10.11

2017-08-08 Thread Seth Forshee
I had a mistaken impression when I wrote the original 4.12 support
patch, it's the number of page table levels supported by the kernel
which matters and not the number of page table levels the arch actually
uses. Seems I also forgot to test on i386, oops.

Attaching an updated support patch for 4.12. Build tested with
4.11/4.12/4.13 on both amd64 and i386.

2017-08-08 Thread jre
Thanks for your report!

You tried to install libwine-development-dev, which is part of the wine-
development package suite in the offcial Ubuntu archives. This pulled
in fonts-wine.You don't need these packages since you are using Wine
from winehq, which should already provide the same content.

So just "apt purge libwine-development-dev fonts-wine" and you should be
fine.

Now, please help me figure out the conflict between fonts-wine and wine-
rt and other packages. Please post the output of "apt policy wine-rt
wineasio wine-mono".

[Bug 1705653] Re: budgie-desktop freezes with the global app-menu

2017-08-08 Thread Jeremy Bicha
The github commit you pointed to already exists in the Ubuntu package,
but org.valapanel.appmenu-gtk-module.gschema.xml isn't installed.

That looks like an embedded code copy of unity-gtk-module which isn't
allowed according to Debian Policy 4.13, at least as long as unity-gtk-
module is still in Ubuntu.

https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-source.html#s-embeddedfiles

I'll let flexiondotorg look into all this more.

Based on how out-of-nowhere it was, and how such a question doesn't make sense
unless you know the person has been doing some computer setup recently, I'm
betting OP had a facebook status about setting up a new partition or
something.

And in that context, asking about how they went about it and what
choices they made is a pretty easy and low-stakes conversation.
Perfectly friendly and normal.

If this only had those questions and not the rest of the blubbering
nonsense, I don't think there would have been an issue.

Fits our needs better, is signed to a better contract, and is a
motivator for Markieff. I'm being serious, we need Markieff as a future
asset and Marcus would keep him happy.

Marcus is signed to a 4-year, $20 million deal right now. Green's
$3.5 million deal expires at the end of the season and after that his
salary will likely skyrocket, so I think Marcus (also younger) is the
better value.

Plus his defense is sort of underrated. Nowhere near as good as Tucker, but
most definitely a better perimeter defender than IT/Green.

Oh and finally he's pretty damn efficient without forcing shots like
the other two. Just seems to have a higher Basketball IQ in
general, he knows his limits and lets the offense come to him.

2017-08-08 Thread Jeremy Bicha
I'm attaching the packaging work I've done so far in case someone else

It would be good to run the tests without using an embedded copy of

Also, maybe we could use autopkgtest to run the tests since we can't run

[Bug 1587193] Re: build of python3 snap fails with 'error: option --single-version-externally-managed not recognized'

2017-08-08 Thread Sergio Schvezov
Yes, we currently only support pip installable projects, which means
`--single-version-externally-managed` is not supported, which means you
should use `setuptools` instead of `distutils.core`.

That said, we would welcome a `distutils` plugin in snapcraft.

2017-08-08 Thread Martin Pitt
I found the fix and backported it to xenial. The SRU is complicated by
the fact that packagekit is currently FTBFS due to recent firefox
dropping NPAPI, thus the browser plugin cannot be built any more. I'll
drop it.

2017-08-08 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
Such errors are not caused by a bug in the package that failed to install, but
rather due to the whole system being in a inconsistent state.
I recommend you ask to a support channel what to do to bring it back to
something usable.

[Bug 1630515] Re: topmenu-gtk built against GTK3+ segfaults when clicked

2017-08-08 Thread Mamoru TASAKA
I don't have tried this application, I just came across this bug, but I
guess this is due to structure change written in ./module/gtk3privates.h
(yes, this is originally "private" header in gtk3, so the structures may
change in gtk3).

For example, with gtk+ 3.20, struct _GtkMenuPrivate has more members
than what is written in ./module/gtk3privates.h in topmenu-gtk.

[Bug 1709314] [NEW] Unbreak size and archive size generation of built RPMs on big-endian systems

2017-08-08 Thread bugproxy
Public bug reported:

We use the rpm tools version 4.12.0.1 that come with Ubuntu Xenial to build
packages.
However, that very version still has a bug:

https://github.com/rpm-software-
management/rpm/commit/104856ea17161eb3a508913c2b7ed701f2e4f6aa

On Big-Endian systems (and that's what we use), the Archive-Size field is
handled wrongly.

---uname output---
Linux mclinx 4.4.0-83-generic #106-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jun 26 17:54:02 UTC 2017
s390x s390x s390x GNU/Linux

Machine Type = IBM zSeries 2964 (z13)

---Debugger---
A debugger is not configured

---Steps to Reproduce---
Build an RPM on a 64-bit Big-Endian system on Ubuntu-Xenial and check the
Archive-Size field of the built RPM afterwards:

rpm -qp --xml example-1.3.0-1.s390x.rpm > example_1.3.0-1_rpm.xml

With the broken version you should find contents like these:

0

In case the Archive-Size is lower than 4GiB you'll always see a "0" as value
here. The corrected rpmbuild command should post the correct archive size.

Userspace tool common name: rpmbuild

The userspace tool has the following bit modes: 64-bit

Userspace rpm: rpm

Userspace tool obtained from project website: na
