I don't get any conflicts from that, either w/o libsdl2 at all, or with
it installed from your PPA.

Still having the probleb with: Ubuntu 17.10 "Artful Aardvark" - Alpha amd64
(20170807)
after install I have saved the whole directory /var/log and I attach it here
hoping to help debug this problem. Note I don't have the problem with all
installations from daily up to 0710.

The status of 'openvswitch-nonetwork.service' and its journal entries
would be useful:
sudo systemctl status openvswitch-nonetwork.service
sudo journalctl -xe -u openvswitch-nonetwork.service
also any log data from /var/log/openvswitch/*
