[Bug 1452096] Re: "Calibrate" in Systems Stettings -> Color disabled.
Really, over 2 years and someone considers this "confirmed" as of 6 hours ago? I've moved onto the 16.04 release. I did have a calibration device attached but I couldn't find drivers for it. I had borrowed it from a friend and since it's so long ago I don't remember the device I was using but it worked a treat on the TV. I would also point out that you can't load a color profile under 15.04. If you know what your doing I should have been able to load color profile to fix the issue but I couldn't even do that. The ability to load a color profile doesn't work for this same machine, under 16.04. Or if it is possible it eluded me, even running a root. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1452096 Title: "Calibrate" in Systems Stettings -> Color disabled. [Bug 1712858] Re: system freezes occasionally for several minutes
Yes, swapping is the responsibility of the kernel. So if your system occasionally thrashing then that could cause this bug per comment #3. It would also explain why the system is able to recover after some minutes... Please continue testing but it sounds like the memory hog is the real bug (plasmashell or others). But that said, using several GB of "virtual memory" (VSZ in ps) is not a bug. That's just address space and does not imply any real memory or swap usage. [Bug 1721763] Re: ubuntu is stuck with black screen and blinking cursos at top left on all shutdown or restart
There is another case that is very strange. The suspend mode is not working, either, since the kernel 4.12 upgrade onwards (in 4.11 it worked fine). When I close the lid of my notebook with it turned on, it appears that it usually goes into suspend mode, but when I open the notebook lid again the system does not reattach, staing stuked again in a black screen, this time, it not always have a blinking cursor on top of the left side. The only way to exit this state is pressing shuttdown button til notebook being off. I read, some time ago, that for suspend mode to work fine, it was necessary to define an appropriate swap space. Well, by the way, I set the size of my swap so that it would be slightly larger than my ram memory. I also apologize for reporting these issues here, but I'm not sure how I could use the apport-bug to report these cases to the correct packages ... [Bug 1722118] [NEW] No feedback on failed OpenVPN connection
Public bug reported: I imported an OpenVPN configuration file. This worked fine. However, when I tried to connect to my OpenVPN server, the connection didn't work. This wasn't obvious though, since the network manager menu disappears right after clicking "Connect". Indeed, the connection couldn't possibly work, since I didn't copy the CA and the TA files. After copying those files next to the config file, the connection succeeded. However, again, without any feedback, except for the changing icon in the systray. My minimal expectation would be to see an error message when the connection fails for whatever reason. I have further issues with network manager or the openvpn plugin: - I don't like that the menu disappears right away, this does not provide sufficient feedback to the user on the success of his operation. - I don't like that the network manager does not automatically suggest to install the openvpn plugin when trying to import openvpn config files.
