Although not strictly Ubuntu, I can confirm this bug happens on Linux
Mint 18.3 "Sylvia", Cinnamon 64-bit. This helped me fix it:
sudo apt-get purge runit
sudo apt-get purge git-daemon-run
sudo apt-get install -f
It is not necessary to purge git-all or git packages. Keep the rest,
only get rid of
This issue is corrected in Audacity version 2.2. I tested it on Debian
Sid in VirtualBox.

+1 for moving the snap directory to a more standard place and hiding it.
The way I see it, you have two choices for a folder like this (and all
other software I use conforms to this):
1. Make it non-configurable and hide it in a standard, widely accepted location
(~/., .local/, .config/)
2. Make

Then I opened Gnome Control Center.
I clicked on Backgrounds in gnome Control center, but Control Center froze.
The background id get set after a delay, but I had to kill Control Center.
Afterwards, I saw the error in the logs.
