I experienced this bug today on 16.04. I think I solved it by
specifying tp_fan manually:
tp_fan /proc/acpi/ibm/fan
Then it started working. Maybe a coincidence though. It did work before.

After having intermittent problems booting 4.13.0-32, 4.13.0-36, and
4.13.0-37 I uninstalled those kernels (which also uninstalled linux-
generic-hwe-16.04 and linux-image-generic-hwe-16.04) as well as intel-
microcode. I'm running the 4.4 kernel that comes with 16.04 now with

I have noticed that Kubuntu 18.04 (Bionic Beaver) does not login to
public Wifi hotspots without wifi security, that require login through a
web page. I don't know if this is reproducible on arbitrary public
networks, or only on the few I tried.

On my home laptop I upgraded my Kubuntu 17.10 to 18.04 beta1. Since then
I have problems starting an X-Session in general and the only fallback I
came to was installing Gnome and trying with Wayland, which gave me at
least a GUI Interface.
