[Bug 1880041] Re: Failing to shutdown/power off or reboot on AMD Ryzen CPUs on kernel versions 5.3.0-52 and later
[Bug 1877955] Re: Fix for secure boot rules in IMA arch policy on powerpc
SRU stands for "Stable Release Update" and describes the process that is needed to get a patch (or patches) to fix critical issues into components that are part of an Ubuntu version that is already released (post GA). The process for packages (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates) is slightly different compared to the SRU process for the kernel: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/KernelUpdates But there is also such a 'stable release update' process in use upstream at kernel.org. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1877955 Title: Fix for secure boot rules in IMA arch policy on powerpc To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-power-systems/+bug/1877955/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1881346] [NEW] linux-kvm should support nftables
Public bug reported: LXD can't use nftables on the latest linux-kvm kernels for eoan, focal, and groovy: - groovy: 5.4.0.1009.9 - focal: 5.4.0-1011.11 - eoan: 5.3.0.1017.19 LXD detects that nft tools are available, and nft tables can be listed; however, trying to create a new table or rule fails. [Bug 1881346] Re: linux-kvm should support nftables
Right, I've sent a tweak to LXD upstream to detect such kernel setup and fallback to xtables, but that's obviously not a situation we'd like to rely on. nftables is the current supported way of doing firewalling and is what Ubuntu uses by default (through shim packages) as of 20.04, so we need to ensure that all our kernels support it. Easy fix would be to align CONFIG_NFT* to what we have in generic. If that increases size too much, then I guess we can look at trimming things a bit to only include the usually bits we need (ipv4, ipv6, nat, mangling, mac filtering, ...). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1881346 Title: linux-kvm should support nftables To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-kvm/+bug/1881346/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1881342/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1880760] Re: do-release-upgrade should provide a way to upgrade to $distro-proposed
We ended up not requiring this, as the SRU found another way to get uploaded. :-) However, I did look into how we might go about implementing this. In case it might help someone else needing similar some day, here's what I was thinking: * In do-release-upgrade, add a new command line option such as '--allow- proposed'. Like for options.allow_third_party, this option would set an environment variable "RELEASE_UPGRADER_ALLOW_PROPOSED" to "True" * In data/DistUpgrade.cfg, at the end of the [Sources] section add a ";AllowProposed=False". * In DistUpgradeController::rewriteSourcesList(), after the code that uses the config and env var settings to set mirror_check, add a similar section for a new 'allow_proposed=False' variable. * Also in DistUpgradeController::rewriteSourcesList(), update the clause that does the actual proposed disablement should be modified to look like this: # Disable proposed on upgrade to a development release. if (not entry.disabled and not allow_proposed and self.options and self.options.devel_release == True and "%s-proposed" % self.fromDist in entry.dist): logging.debug("upgrade to development release, disabling proposed") entry.dist = "%s-proposed" % self.toDist entry.comment += _("Not for humans during development stage of release %s") % self.toDist entry.disabled = True continue I *think* that's the correct logic. This should skip the removal of -proposed for any release, so if you enable proposed on your current system, it should leave proposed enabled on the target distro. The routine has a lot of branches so I may have missed some clause; I'd test well. This wouldn't permit upgrading to a proposed distro from a non-proposed distro. If that functionality is wanted, then support would also need added for that. Probably somewhere around the loop that adds -updates and -security. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1880760 Title: do-release-upgrade should provide a way to upgrade to $distro-proposed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1880760/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1881364] [NEW] broken kerning
Public bug reported: Hi, I am just trying to debug a problem with impress I have after upgrading from 18.04 to 20.04: On some, not on all slides, text becomes - unreadable due to negative kerning, i.e. characters are shifted so close together that they are overlapping - one slide even invisible. Strangely, the effect occurs - with libreoffice as a debian package - with libreoffice as an AppImage downloaded from libreoffice.org - *but not* with libreoffice as a snap (which doesn't solve the problem because of other problems of accessing local fonts) Unfortunately, I can't give the slides as an example, they're strictly confidential. [Bug 1881356] [NEW] Xenial update: 4.4.224 upstream stable release
Public bug reported: SRU Justification Impact: The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel: 4.4.224 upstream stable release from git://git.kernel.org/ ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: kernel-stable-tracking-bug ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Tags added: kernel-stable-tracking-bug ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1881356 Title: Xenial update: 4.4.224 upstream stable release To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1881356/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1881363] Re: Informal date format: wrong time shown
I haven't been able so far to test the patch myself; at least it compiles without errors. ** Patch added: "Patch suggestion" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/caja/+bug/1881363/+attachment/5378593/+files/caja_time_bug.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1881363 Title: Informal date format: wrong time shown To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/caja/+bug/1881363/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1881363] [NEW] Informal date format: wrong time shown
Public bug reported: System: Ubuntu MATE 18.04.4 Package version: 1.20.2-4ubuntu1 This issue is only present when the "informal" date format is set. This format is the last entry in the format dropdown i.e. the "today at 14:23:45" format - the two other date formats are not affected. You also have to switch the view to "list" mode, in order to see the "modified date" column. The issue affects all files that were last modified neither today nor yesterday. For these files, the correct date is shown. But instead of the time of the file itself, the current wall clock time is displayed! So whenever an update of the shown timestamp is triggered, the time is replaced by the current time (as time goes by). See the attached screenshot for an example. As one can see, many files have the very same time, though having different dates. Exceptions are, as said, files that were modified today ("heute") or yesterday ("gestern") - they have the expected time. I had a look at the code and it seems that the bug is located in "libcaja-private/caja-file.c" in the function "caja_file_fit_date_as_string". While for the two other date formats everything is fine, the retrieval of the "informal" format is a bit more complex. It involes a call to localtime which returns a pointer to struct tm. This pointer is cached for later use. However, the manpage for ctime warns: "The return value points to a statically allocated struct which might be overwritten by subsequent calls to any of the date and time functions." This seems to happen here, due to later date/time operations. I'm not sure whether this has already been fixed in later versions, as the Git history shows later refactoring. At least as a quick fix for this version, here localtime_r instead of localtime could be used. ** Affects: caja (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "Screenshot" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1881363/+attachment/5378592/+files/caja_time_bug.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1881363 Title: Informal date format: wrong time shown To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/caja/+bug/1881363/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1881345] Re: The installer crashed during the final stages of installation, while applying hardware changes
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it seems that there is a problem with your installation media (CD/DVD). You can verify the integrity of the Ubuntu ISO files you downloaded by following the instructions at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM. You might also retry your installation with new media. In the event that is is not in fact an error with your installation media please set the bug's status back to New. Thanks and good luck!
