[Bug 1881115] Re: shift-delete not handled

2020-06-09 Thread frank
How can i figure out if nautilus or any other desktop handler is used in
flashback to push the bug there?

Btw. Last state was also for gnome-extension-desktop-icons because in
ubuntu-session there is only delete (proposed package), shift+delete
moves to trash too (without dialog).

probably just an packaging issue? pyvenv is officially removed in
python-3.8[1], so the symlink pyvenv should no longer be created?

[Bug 1875916] Re: upgrading to 4.15.0-99-generic breaks the sound and the trackpad

2020-06-09 Thread Thoo
Ahoy,

on 18.04 LTS bionic I have been offered kernel linux-
image-4.15.0-106-generic when using "apt-get dist-upgrade".

Since for me the last working kernel 4.15.0-96-generic is almost to be
rolled out of my grub config with this new 4.15.0-106 kernel, I'd like
to know if this bug is fixed in the 106 kernel.

Alternatively:

How do I pin the working 4.15.0-96-generic kernel to my grub config, so
that further kernel updates via "apt-get dist-upgrade" don't roll my
working 4.15.0-96-generic kernel out of my grub config automagically?

And secondly: Is there a similar "proposed" method as mentioned in
comment #38 for bionic that I can test a proposed kernel with a fix on
bionic "safely" with an *easy* option to roll back?

(Installing the provided test-kernel from comment #19, and trying to
revert back to a standard kernel did not work out that well for me, see
comments #27, #28 and #31.)

Thanks

[Bug 1882890] [NEW] Cannot boot initrd.img-4.15.0-106-generic on Ubuntu 16.04

2020-06-09 Thread Jérôme
Public bug reported:

Hi,

This morning I applied the latest updates on my Ubuntu 16.04 (kernel
4.15.0-106-generic + intel-microcode 3.20200609.0ubuntu0.16.04.0) and
rebooted as usual to boot on the new kernel but the system won't boot:
black screen.

I tried booting the previous kernel 4.15.0-101 and it seems to be the
same : in grub I select the 4.15.0-101 kernel, press enter, a message
"Loading initrd..." is printed but nothing else happens.

Tried even older kenrel 4.4.0-184-generic : same problem, "Loading
initrd...", and nothing happens.

I managed to boot a 4.4.0-142-generic, but bluetooth and wifi are non-
functionnal.

I mounted the /boot partition from a USB rescue drive, and it seems that all
the initrd images that got updated this morning are not bootable anymore :
- initrd.img-4.15.0-106-generic
- initrd.img-4.15.0.101-generic
- initrd.img-4.4.0-184-generic

I tried regenerating the images with update-initramfs but it's the same
: "Loading initrd" message but nothing happens.

[Bug 1881874] Re: Unable to launch Loadbalancer from Horizon Dashboard

2020-06-09 Thread Chris MacNaughton
I have just deployed Horizon with the Octavia dashboard and successfully
created a load balancer. As a result, I don't think that this is an
Ubuntu package bug. I'm adding OpenStack Ansible as it may be a
configuration issue that they might be able to help with.

I was not getting system freeze for a while. But, in the last two days,
it froze three times. All three times I was watching a video or in a

[Bug 1882774] Re: issues with secondary VMX execution controls

2020-06-09 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
@Neil - it isn't too easy, but I was able to confirm myself in the
meantime and it works well.

The usual flow is that I bring this fix into the affected Groovy and Focal and
then the cloud-archive would rebase onto those versions.
But I'll add a ubuntu-cloud-archive task.
Maybe they can pre-build you something based on the PPA that is linked here -
which you then can test on Bionic as well - just so we can be sure that the
different older VMX controls on the bionic kernel will work the same way.
@James / Corey - could you do so?

[Bug 1882879] [NEW] Filled out form fields disappear after saving to docx/doc with LibreOffice writer.

2020-06-09 Thread Albert Weichselbraun
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Version: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
Package version: libreoffice-writer 1:6.4.3-0ubuntu0.20.04.1amd64

Steps to reproduce:
===
 1. Open a docx containing forms such as the attached IPR declaration form.

 2. Fill out some of the form fields.

 3. Save the file and reopen it with LibreOffice writer.

 4. Form fields that have been filled out are no longer visible.

Fix:

- Updating LibreOffice to 6.4.4 (either from the official site or from
ppa:libreoffice/ppa fixes this problem.

Further Notes:
==
- The form data can actually be recovered by opening the file with AbiWord (to
my best knowledge, neighter Microsoft Word nor the fixed version of LibreOffice
are able to recover the data).

[Bug 1882774] Re: issues with secondary VMX execution controls

2020-06-09 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
I have tested this with a GCE instance with nested enabled
here the domcapabilities for the type:

  Skylake-Client-IBRS
  Intel

I set the guest (on Bionic) to use host-model:

Due to that it got on first execution the model generated as the above
reported type:

Skylake-Client-IBRS
Intel

Guest starts fine, no related errors in
/var/log/libvirt/qemu/testguest.log

After an update to focal the type is now reported as unusable
  Skylake-Client-IBRS

The guest would now be detected as, it thinks this definition is now
closer:

  Broadwell-IBRS
  Intel

No matter if I use host-model of the former Skylake type - the guest now starts
with the reported crash:

$ sudo tail -f /var/log/libvirt/qemu/testguest.log
...
error: Failed to start domain testguest
error: internal error: process exited while connecting to monitor:
2020-06-09T13:51:27.110925Z 2020-06-09T13:51:27.111798Z qemu-system-x86_64:

Updating to the PPA with the suggested fix and it resolves the issue as

[Bug 1882857] Re: [amdgpu] Blackscreen when swtching users

2020-06-09 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Also...

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 1882878] [NEW] FP Auth enroll screen issue

2020-06-09 Thread PRASAD HEGDE
Public bug reported:

We are able to enroll the same finger for all 10 available options. (No
error like 'Fingerprint is already enrolled' is observed). In windows it
doesn’t allow to enroll the same finger, it has a duplicate check API.
Here we have all 10 finger options are shown in GUI itself, so whichever
finger is enrolled atleast the same finger can be grayed out so that
user cannot enroll the same finger again.

The release of Ubuntu: Ubuntu 20.04

** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

Thanks for the bug report.

Please run this command now:

Please also run this command AFTER the next freeze and reboot:

  journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt

And attach the resulting text files here.

Hello,
"That setup uses a custom gcrypt for HW acceleration use" <- can you tell me
how to know if this setup is using a custom gcrypt for HW acceleration? Or
because of the kernel?

A quick check of the test history for this ibm-gt kernel:
4.15.0-1053.59 - this test was not tested
4.15.0-1054.60 - this test was not tested
4.15.0-1055.61 - this test was not tested
4.15.0-1058.64 - failed with this issue as well

The attachment "wpa_2.9-1ubuntu8.debdiff" seems to be a debdiff. The
ubuntu-sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report so that they
can review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. If the attachment isn't a
patch, please remove the "patch" flag from the attachment, remove the
"patch" tag, and if you are member of the ~ubuntu-sponsors, unsubscribe
the team.
