1. downloaded source for proposed package
2. used ubuntu-old-fashioned/scripts/ubuntu-bartender to run a build
3. used Virtualbox to load the ova and vmdk
4. ensured the ova and vmdk loaded, cloud-init loaded, systemd completed with

Title:
Some desktop icons disappear
Icons are missing most times for me. Logging out and back in always
fixes it, as well as Alt+F2 -> 'r', but it's annoying. It might be a
race condition since it seems to only happen on slow computers and on
first boot (when the computer is under load, which makes it slower).

I'm still affected by this. Only happens in one computer, a rather slow
one with a spinning hard drive. Is there a fix/workaround?

There's no CD/DVD installation media for Ubuntu. The installation is
made through official support drivers. They worked so far up until
around one month ago. What is curious is that the printer works normally
as intended.
