Lubuntu 18.04 LTS, being a flavor had only 3 years of supported life which has now ended - see https://lubuntu.me/bionic-eol/ The package this bug is filed against thus is out of support, and won't be fixed. I suspect your issue however is with a grub2 package, not a Lubuntu package, which would be still supported. If the package is changed to a supported package, I'd suggest performing the following (after package change is made of course). Thanks for the swift update, Chris. As you say, it looks like an issue with grub2. The end of support for this particular Lubuntu flavour had slipped my mind. Sigh. Looking at the /boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/grub.cfg I see #cat /boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/grub.cfg search.fs_uuid ---- root lvmid/yy------yy/zz------zz set prefix=($root)'/grub' configfile $prefix/grub.cfg The various UUIDs are all correct for my setup (UEFI. Clear-text ESP. Encrypted partition containing LVM volumes, with separate volumes for boot, root, home, var...) The search.fs_uuid will fail if the key for the encrypted partition has not been given and the encrypted partition opened via cryptomount first, so it looks like update-grub is missing something it didn't before, which, I guess, has something to do with the transition from grub 2.02 to grub 2.04. Clear-text ESP. Encrypted partition containing LVM volumes, with separate volumes for boot, root, home, var...) The search.fs_uuid will fail if the key for the encrypted partition has not been given and the encrypted partition opened via cryptomount first, so it looks like update-grub is missing something it didn't before, which, I guess, has something to do with the transition from grub 2.02 to grub 2.04. Running update-grub does not fix the problem. Happens to me in a razer blade stealth (late 2016) Intel UHD Graphics 620. I tried to install both, Ubuntu 20.04.2 lts and pop_os 20.04, this glitch when resizing is the only problem I can't fix. Both were fresh installations so i assume it is present and I couldn't find a solution other than to enable wayland. I don't know how to change GRUB_DEFAULT_LINUX or disable a device that crashes the laptop (I can disable it with xinput and then no problem). That's why I haven't changed to wayland.
