I tested again on kernels 5.8 and 5.11 with nvidia-driver-470. Logs are

With 5.8 kernel, the external displays eventually come to live, after
connecting the dock and some waiting (~15 s). After first connection, it

Correct: patch "e1000e: Add handshake with the CSME to support S0ix" is
_not_ for bug 1919321. Previous revertion has been removed. So from
staging.9 there will be both this csme handshake patch and ubuntu sauced
work-around for bug 1919321.
