As a workaround, this feature is actually in klaptopdaemon, in the
kicker, but you have to enable it.
However, klaptopdaemon is quite buggy, and kpowersave in dapper works a

the current purpose of kubuntu-desktop is to be able to run one command

What you're suggesting I think is already implemented in kdebase. You
dont *have* to have kubuntu-desktop as part of the upgrade,
The easiest way to get around this bug is to simply uninstall the
punjabi font package. That did for me. Of course, this is just a
workaround, not a solution.

I don't think so. The dialogue says Checking installed and available
applications and then This may take one or two minutes (?!?!), so it
seems to be intended behaviour. It happens when I open the program and
_after_ I install an application on all of my systems.

This one was strange. I just upgraded to 6.06 from 5.10 and there is
something weird happeing in the sound department. The sound volume is
simply too low. The 6.06 maximum volume is now about 60% of what the
5.10 sound volume was. The sound volume values from KMixer are all
for me the best solution was install kwallet and then change the wallet
password to nothin. Now I don't need to put any password.
I end up doing this as well. changing to confirmed.

In fact my problem is that Grub DIDN'T install on MBR. I suppose it was
installed on my root linux partition.

Now I also installed SSH server on both boxes, and tried moving files
with both scp and the Nautilus interface. SSH transfers on LAN work at
the same slow speed as SMB and NFS, so only HTTP protocol seems to
utilize full ethernet speed. Im at a loss to explain what might cause

One other thing I just rememberd: The application do actually start
(show up in ps -ef), but don't show a window at all. They also don't
give any errors in console.

I compiled tomboy from source (CVS HEAD and 0.3.5) and had no problems
anymore. This problem appeared really late in the dapper release process
(I am using dapper since march). Unfortunately I couldn't find time to
report this earlier.
Maybe it is just a small bug...
