[Bug 35354] Re: hal does not recognize NTFS-FUSE mounted devices as mounted
OK, after messing around with it for an hour, I managed to figure out a way to fix this. This is just a hack until some things with nautilus and hal are fixed up, but you can try this: Open up /etc/hal/fdi/policy/preferences.fdi and paste this in at the end (but before /deviceinfo): device match key=volume.fstype string=ntfs merge key=volume.is_mounted type=booltrue/merge merge key=volume.mount_point type=string/media/Windows/merge merge key=volume.policy.mount_filesystem type=strlistfuse/merge merge key=storage.removable type=boolfalse/merge merge key=volume.ignore type=boolfalse/merge /match /device Of course, replace /media/Windows with the mount point. This won't work if you have multiple NTFS partitions, change the match element to match your device. (I'll forward these mails containing that conversation here later). as the mercurial hg script starts with #!/usr/bin/env python A workaround would be to change this line to use python2.3 and install this package accordingly. Public bug reported: Currently utc is causing people problems as they might not understand what it does if enabled during the installation and they want to change the setting later when they experience problems. Example of such problem is when user has a dualboot machine, where Windows and Linux are in different time, because utc is enabled. ( I recently fixed such problem myself. ) Obvious place to look for such setting is the date time settings, so we should add there an option where utc could be enabled or disabled. ** Affects: clock-setup (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- We need a GUI to enable/disable utc https://launchpad.net/bugs/53132 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 53131] [Fwd: Re: mercurial giving meaningless error messages / imppossible to run simple commands]
Before I had this error with Ubuntu, I had the same error with SuSE, too, where the default python version is also 2.4. Here's the response I got from the mercurial developers: Original Message Subject: Re: mercurial giving meaningless error messages / imppossible to run simple commands Date: Tue, 11 Jul 2006 11:11:00 -0700 From: Bryan O'Sullivan [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Henning Sprang [EMAIL PROTECTED] CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED] References: [EMAIL PROTECTED] On Sun, 2006-07-09 at 17:14 +0200, Henning Sprang wrote: When trying to use mercurial 0.7 on SuSE Linux 10.1, for example with the command hg revert /PATH/TO/FILE to revert a locally chnaged file, I get the absolutely unhelpful message shown at the end of this mail. Mercurial 0.7 is very old. If you could retry with a newer version, such as 0.9, that would be a big help. I cant tell if the fault is probably on me because I do something wrong, because from this message I cant identify anything i could do different than I do. When Mercurial prints a big traceback-style error message like that, it's a sign that something very unexpected happened. So reporting the error to the list is quite appropriate. [Bug 53138] initrd missing modules on install, IBM x206m (Adaptec aic94xx)
Public bug reported: Hi, Installed an IBM x206m from a dapper CD, the install apparently worked but the boot failed, on investigation the initrd was missing the drivers for the SAS disc controller it needed aic94xx/aic94xx.ko and the sas_class.ko adding (those are in the dapper kernel modules). I think it had actually put the aic7xxx drivers in there (but haven't got the machine in front of me to check) Note: The initial symptoms are confusing and might get misreported as a PCI resource issue; since at boot with an md raid setup, the last messages you see are about PCI resource errors and appears to hang; but only if you leave it for a minute or two does it eventually drop to a shell where you can see that the drivers are missing. It really needs a message to say that it is waiting. P.S. What actually decides what modules to put in the install initrd? Public bug reported: If one tried to run exifautotran on a jpeg-file that contains an exif thumbnail the image itself gets transformed properly according to exif information, but the exif thumbnails does not. I have edited the exifautotran script quite significantly to support translation of exif thumbnails as well (using the exif package and jpegtran), but since I'm new to launchpad I'm unsure about how to attach this edited script to the bug report. I will try to find this out though. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- exifautotran fails to transform exif thumbnails in images... https://launchpad.net/bugs/53144 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 38278] Re: wifi card don't work. isl3886 is required but not installed
The sysfs new_id hack also works perfecly for me on a 3CRWE154G72 PCMCIA card. ¿Is there any way to make this change persistent between reboots without recompiling the kernel?. [Bug 44959] Re: sdhci driver kills Suspend/Resume on Dell X1
One simple solution to fix the problem with the long timeout after resume would be to prevent the mentioned modules from getting loaded by the kernel. I added the following two lines to my /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist: blacklist sdhci blacklist mmc_core The downside is that the SD card slot certainly wouldn't run anymore, but that's no problem for me personally because I don't use it. -- sdhci driver kills Suspend/Resume on Dell X1 https://launchpad.net/bugs/44959 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 53148] Thinkpad x22. Suddenly it blocks!
Public bug reported: I have Ubuntu Dapper and WinXP on two partitions on my IBM Thinkpad x22. Every once in awhile, completely unexpectedly, the computer blocks if using Ubuntu. I have to switch it off. Can be when I close a window or when I start an application or when I move a window to another place on the screen. I just upgraded the bios through the IBM tool for WinXP but the problem stays the same. Thanks. Enrico. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Thinkpad x22.
