It's unclear as a user what I'm setting in the F2 options at bootup,
it's just refered to as language. If I do that I get the correct
keyboard map (dk-latin) but everything is still untranslated.

I noticed it crashes (almost) everytime after the extraction of zip
files and sometimes with .tar.gz or .tar.bz2. I'm using Kubuntu 6.06
Dapper with all the updates. I get an error, something like "no
debugging info available". I use to right click the archive then
"Extract here".

Any updates on this bug? The last post is over two months old and as
far as I can tell, the problem still exists (Graphire3). Plugging in
the tablet (from a cold boot) and installing as written above works, but
when the tablet is unplugged, it requires a reboot to get it working
again.

drive has probably changed from ide to lib-ata. This changes the
identifier for the drive. My pata hard drive formally found at /dev/hda
is now /dev/sda. If possible check the dmesg output to see how the drive

I confirm the bug as existing in both Dapper and Edgy.
In Dapper, id3lib corrupted several tags that were originally in Chinese
and Japanese created under Windows XP, when rewritng the tags and saving
the files. Tthe version of EasyTag in Dapper doesn't give you any

All input and video drivers have been updated to the latest available
upstream version, and uploaded/built/published for X.Org 7.1. (this
happened on Aug 27/28 timeframe)
Now that all driver have been published on all archs, xorg-server was
updated to acknowledge the change:

I run ubuntu and debian on the same laptop. ubuntu crashes if I use the
CPU for more than a few minutes at a time, debian doesn't. I can tell
when ubuntu is about to power down because the fan in the laptop starts

The results you gave from /proc/acpi/battery and from HAL seem
consistent to me. It clearly indicates that once the battery charged
your laptop stops using the AC and works on battery. Did you notice
anything that can actually confirm this ?
It looks like a hardware bug or a BIOS misconfiguration.
