I have a strange issue with network-manager and bcm43xx driver.
On Dapper, network-manager chose the right (i mean the latest used) ESSID
automatically and connect upon login. In Edgy, network-manager won't connect to

I am using Kubuntu 6.10 edgy eft, I did two fresh installs and upon
checking the 'keyboard layouts' section in kcontrol under Regional and
Accessibility , I discovered after clicking the enable keyboard check
box that there were no keyboard models listed. There were also no
available layouts. I

I tried to convert an mp3 to ogg but it silently failed. Perhaps the
gstreamer-plugins-ugly package should be recommended by soundcounverter
since mp3 to ogg is the default setting.

Thanks for the advice Michael. I will give this a go. The issue is, I
HAVE TO use 16bit. If I could use 24, then I'd be much happier. I only
wish I knew more about this APGart memory thingy, because I am positive

Same problem here: I have got a RTL8180 card with Edgy. With the
included driver it freezes if I try to download a torrent + use other
Internet activity. Only downloading a torrent works just fine. Just
surfing the net is also ok.

I've got no idea, but i can tell you that the same card is working fine
here, with wpa.
Could well be a local problem, i'm not sure. Or it could be something
with your system. No idea.

We are testing the Ubuntu Installer as a method for deploying Ubuntu in
our European Datacentres. During testing we have noticed that in the
majority of cases dhcp negotiation times out and it is necessary to
attempt negotiation again for it
Is there anything I could do to debug this?

When I boot 2.6.17-generic my laptop hangs at about 20% in usplash. If I
use the recovery kernel it says CPU#0 soft lockup right after fsck.
I use dual boot and WinXP works fine. Edgy will boot ok (most of the
time) if I boot

This is not a bug. I investigated and found that 'which', in the Debian
package debianutils, for quite some time has been the one by Colin
Watson and not the 'which' written by Carlo Wood. This version does not
have the '-i' switch which is '--read-alias'.

I have this problem, too.
It's really sad... I was quite impressed when I installed Dapper (KDE
3.5.4, I think) and put a DVD in the drive. The DVD icon popped up
(*not* the CD icon, like it does now), and the icon's label was
BATMAN_BEGINS, not cdrom0.

A precision: the trouble occurs even when I'm not using the computer,
for example when I let it open for few hours, then I come back and I
notice that the connection is not here anymore (occured a few times,
aMule was running, no suspend or hirbenating stuff was on).
