[Bug 74283] Re: Component chooser doesn't appear in kcontrol, and doesn't work when run manually

2006-12-04 Thread Andreas Simon
The usual way to install the Kubuntu desktop is through the package
'kubuntu-desktop'. kde-systemsettings is a dependency of it.

The 'kde' metapackage installs more or less a pure upstream KDE, without
any Kubuntu stuff.

[Bug 74325] Re: Baobab uses incorrect units

2006-12-04 Thread Fabio Marzocca
I know that.
But, 99% of gnome users wil get confused by reading Kib, Gib instead of KB, GB.
As baobab is a gnome-utils component and all major Gnome applications such as
nautilus are using KB,MB and GB, it is a matter of consistancy to keep symbols
as they are now.

Fixed with that upload:

 gnome-system-monitor (2.17.3-0ubuntu1) feisty; urgency=low

   * Sync with Debian
   * New upstream version:
 - Use lsb_release when available to get distro information (Ubuntu: #72690)
   * debian/control.in:
 - Build-Depends on liblaunchpad-integration-dev and libpcre3-dev
 - Recommends libsexy2, libgksu2-0 since the program try to dlopen them
   * debian/patches/02_lpi.patch:
 - launchpad-integration

[Bug 74362] usb wireless device gets stuck, requires reboot

2006-12-04 Thread amichair
Public bug reported:

I'm using a Zydas based usb wireless device on Kubuntu Edgy. It works
well. However, after a random period of time (between minutes and hours,
more than once a day) the network simply dies. running lsusb (or
kcontrol - usb devices) hangs, unplugging/replugging the USB device has
no effect, and it seems as though the USB bus is dead. The only way to
get it working again is a reboot - several time a day!

I'm not sure what info may be relevant, so here's a guess (I'm a newbie,
which unfortunately had to tinker with these things while trying to find
a solution):

It's the only connected USB device.

The system log, at the point where it gets stuck, shows:

2006-12-04 Thread Fabio Massimo Di Nitto
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 74346 ***

There was no such thing as copying mdadm.conf in dapper. It was
introduced in edgy. The UUID you are talking about is the FS UUID
required to find any mount point / device that's nothing to do with the
raid UUID used by mdadm.

the file is updated each time the initramfs is updated.

[Bug 70057] Re: sun-java5-plugin does not set up equivalents

It is true that java-package did not remove the equivalents properly.
But that does not matter in the case of the bug I reported with sun-

What I reported is that sun-java5-plugin should have proceeded instead
of bombing out.

There is no reason why it could not add itself to the equivalents
system. This is the bug.

[Bug 45722] Re: flashplugin-nonfree doesn't uses the proxy debconf key

2006-12-04 Thread Sander Marechal
This should be upgraded from Whishlist to Serious Bug and also be
backported to dapper. The upgrade to flash 9 is hanging people's auto
updates.

People do not configure wget. They only configure synaptic because they
want the updates and firefox because they want to surf. With flash 9 out
now the update hangs for most people behind a proxy because the
postinstall script cannot download the flashplayer from the web. In some
cases (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=307383) hosing the apt
cache.

postinstall scripts (including wget when called from postinstall) should
use apt's proxy configuration by default. A sysadmin setting a proxy for
automatic updates but not for anything else (because the user isn't
allowed to access the net for exampel) is a very reasonable assumption.

If you compiled it on your own, I'm sorry to say, you are on your own.

Ubuntu doesn't support 32bit packages of wine compiled on ubuntu 64bit

no. the reason this is disabled is that bash can be used as a system

shell. see http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2006/11/msg00794.html

[Bug 44233] Re: mount udf dvd fails, possible wrong fstab entry

2006-12-04 Thread cfrein
Hi,

I can verify this behaviour. For example any newer Microsoft-DVDs are
mounted as iso9660 but the filesystem should be udf.

Either changing fs-entry in fstab to auto as described above or complete
removing in fstab (so that pmount is involved) does the job.

[Bug 74370] Galeon crashs on some java-script pages

2006-12-04 Thread Iuri Gomes Diniz \[ CLX \]
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: galeon

hello,

When I have these two j2re installed (packages):
sun-java5-jre
j2re1.4

my galeon crash on sites like
http://www.webstandards.org/files/acid2/test.html

but I remove the last one (j2re1.4)
the site in question runs normally

I have found a workaround, when I just remove these symlinks of my system:
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so
/usr/lib/mozilla-snapshot/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so

galeon runs normally

I didn't test with only j2re1.4, maybe a j2re1.4 bug (I cannot remove
sun-java5-jre), but firefox runs normally with these 2 jre installed.

Public bug reported:

When i boot Ubuntu 6.06 with the i686 kernel, whenever i insert a CD-ROM
into drive my system hangs totally and does not response to every kind
of input. It also does not produce any kind of output, it simply dies.

Booting with i386 kernel doesn't give problems.

My Machine is an HP Pavillion with Intel Pentium 4 524 (3.06 Ghz) HT and
a S-ATA HDD while CDROM is IDE. I used standard 2.6.15 kernel due to
lack of Internet connection (I'm connecting from office).

[Bug 74086] Re: neither ~/.bash_profile nor ~/.bashrc are read for ssh login

2006-12-04 Thread manu
I think that the machine target is Dapper, I am not sure how to check
this, though. Could you check your versions of bash and OpenSSH ?

The login shell (echo $SHELL) is /bin/sh which is a symlink to
/bin/bash.

[Bug 64978] Re: powermanager icon sometimes shows fully charged when not

2006-12-04 Thread David Johnson
I'm also seeing the same behaviour. Specifically, the power level shown
on the systray icon doesn't always update as the battery discharges. A
power event (connecting/disconnecting AC power) causes the power level
to be updated to the correct level.

Let me know if you'd like me to provide anything and/or do some
debugging.

[Bug 74373] kde-guidance-powermanager: cpufreq governors change after suspend

2006-12-04 Thread David Johnson
Public bug reported:

I have a dual-core Intel Centrino processor. By default, Kubuntu sets
the governors for each core to ondemand, which is what I want.

However when I suspend the laptop and resume, the governor for the
second core always gets set to performance. The first core continues
using ondemand as it should.

I'm not sure whether the problem is actually in kde-guidance-
powermanager or somewhere else, but this seems like a sensible place to
report it...

[Bug 66172] Re: No man page included and docs unsufficient

2006-12-04 Thread Colin Watson
Yes, this is a geek tool; it's used as part of the build process for
the installer. At present there's nothing based on this that you can use
in a normal system to select a keymap. About the best you can do is boot
a current Ubuntu alternate install CD, run through the keyboard
detection stage, and see what keymap it says you have.
