[Bug 99303] Re: goes from 24% to 80% then fails at select install software

2007-04-01 Thread Colin Watson
Please reproduce the failure and attach /var/log/syslog (you can extract
it using the Save debug logs main menu item).

I suppose anything's possible, but it seems unlikely that largefile
could be involved unless you're running close to the edge of disk space
requirements.

[Bug 99655] pango-libthai ships nothing

2007-04-01 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pango-libthai

pango 0.1.6-3 in feisty ships nothing but document files in /usr/share/doc.
It must be from my build rule with hard-coded module version specific to
debian,
and different from ubuntu.

This certainly needs an urgent fix before feisty release. I'll prepare
the fix soon.

I just received a crash report after logging in.

I hope this information is useful. As I am using the beta I thought I
would pass the info along.

My machine seems to be running quite happily despite the gdm crash

Thanks for a great os

[Bug 97732] Re: atheros wifi driver crashes and makes boot fail

2007-04-01 Thread Ramin Nakisa
It is a mini PCI card, which is why it's so annoying that I have to do
this every time ubuntu crashes. It requires unscrewing the bottom panel
of the laptop and removing the card. Then I have to reboot without the
card, switch off the laptop, put the card back in and everything works
for a while until the next crash.

[Bug 97407] Re: Why Overwrite Existing SWAP?

2007-04-01 Thread Colin Watson
We reformat swap because it's much faster than checking it (which we
used to do).

Reusing the UUID is fixed in Feisty:

partman-basicfilesystems (51ubuntu1) feisty; urgency=low

  * Resynchronise with Debian. Remaining changes:
- Default to mounting partitions with usefully-mountable filesystems on
  subdirectories of /media.
- Add minimal support for NTFS partitions.
- Mount FAT and NTFS filesystems at boot (fstab pass 1).
- Mount FAT with utf8 and NTFS with nls=utf8.
- Mount FAT and NTFS with umask=007,gid=46 (static group plugdev).
  * When formatting over the top of an existing swap partition, preserve its
UUID to avoid leaving systems that use UUIDs in /etc/fstab without swap.

[Bug 99053] Re: Problems installing 7.04 beta on Acer Aspire 3023 WLMi

2007-04-01 Thread Sitsofe Wheeler
Thanks for your installation report.

I'm a little concerned that this report contains multiple issues. When
this happens there is a good chance that the report will have to be
closed due to lack of clarity.

To improve the chances of problems being fixed try to report each
problem in a bug of its own...

[Bug 69163] Re: new version request: 0.7.6-4 (or maybe even 0.7.7-7?)

2007-04-01 Thread Joachim Beckers
I've tested the packages from http://users.tkk.fi/~tjaalton/wacom/, and
they work correctly.

the kernel modules do not build however, at least not on
2.6.20-13-lowlatency.

note that kernel 2.6.20 is not officially supported by the wacom 0.7.6-4
driver, but it's been reported to work with the 0.7.7-7 development
driver. maybe it's better to update to that version. (after feisty is
released?)

[Bug 85033] Re: Spamprobe segfaults on bad mime input

2007-04-01 Thread Jakob Østergaard
Thank you for the reply!

I think you misunderstood my intentions. I guess I confused matters by
pointing to the broken fix in 1.4. Let's forget everything about 1.4,
Edgy and Feisty, and start over :)

This is the problem:
Version 1.2a currently shipped with Dapper will segfault on bad mime input.

This is the impact:
Anyone can DoS a mail system running Dapper and Spamprobe by sending bad mime
data (the mailer will, in common setups, queue the message that caused the
segfault and re-try the delivery to spamprobe for a long long time).

This is the solution:
 I sent a patch which fixes 1.2a.

Can we include that solution (or any other solution) so that 1.2a in
Dapper works?

[Bug 71491] Re: udev error message at boot : invalid rule

2007-04-01 Thread Joachim Beckers
I remember seeing this error when I had upgraded from dapper to edgy. it
was caused by some leftover files (indeed
/etc/udev/rules.d/10-wacom.rules and another file from another package).

deleting the old files did no harm and fixed the problem.
