I have recompiled the ubuntu feisty kernel disabling the 'USB selective
suspend/resume and wakeup' option, but in my case the problem remained. With my
HP ScanJet 4070 (hp3900 backend) xsane freezes while triyng to find the device.
xscanimage, instead, works if the correct device name is

input method? probably not, because i don't know what that is. i have
just set most settings to utf-8.
by the way: if i rename the file - here showthread.php - to
showthread.html firefox doesn't crash any more but opens the file
smoothly.

i am not the only one with this problem.
i use the livecd where the restricted modules are included and the
daemon is loaded.
like you can see in this thread, other ppl. also have this problem with
ipw3945.:

In Feisty from scratch with all updates done, it's impossible to connect to my
wifi network with the Gnome's graphical tools : neither gnome-system-tools

When you click on a folder liferea sometime it crash with this output:

Update:
Following the error noted above I cancelled the install and shutdown the liveCD
from the main menu. Now when I go to boot the system it fails to boot. I just
see the following
Grub loading, please wait...

So it looks as if the installer got as far as erasing the existing OSs.
The wireless is now working again. Here is the readout that you

aMule 2.1.3-1Ubuntu2 fails to read the IPfilter file from it's directory
and crashes when downloading one from a webserver. Using aMule version
2.1.3-1 from the Debian repositories avoids both bugs, but that version
eats a lot of CPU power in
