[Bug 106100] Feisty: Incorrectly identifies hd as sd (eg hda1 - sda1)
Public bug reported: Feisty has my standard IDE drives (usually hda and hdc) listed as sda and sdb. My arrangement is usually (or should be): Pri-Master - hda 40gb (has hda1 as swap and hda2 as /) Pri-Slave - hdb CD-RW/DVD-ROM Sec-Master - hdc 250gb (has hdca as /home) Sec-Slave - hdd CD-RW/DVD-RW Feisty created my /etc/fstab as follows: # file system mount point type options dump pass proc/proc procdefaults0 0 # /dev/sda2 UUID=817212c9-5326-4564-a922-02c968ff03ae / ext3 defaults,errors=remount-ro 0 1 # /dev/sdb1 UUID=43ebc5ff-f943-4fae-b230-6b13fc316b72 /home ext3defaults 0 2 # /dev/sda1 UUID=fb339463-7add-4014-b675-aa9ecfd1fac0 noneswapsw 0 0 /dev/scd0 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user, noauto 0 0 /dev/scd1 /media/cdrom1 udf,iso9660 user, noauto 0 0 /dev/fd0/media/floppy0 autorw, user, noauto 0 0 Oddly this seems to be working as far as my hard drives are concerned, but my optical drives do all kinds of odd things, sometimes visible, sometimes not, sometimes they'll mount, sometimes not, sometimes they'll burn, sometimes not. I did change my fstab to reflect the 'correct' configuration, and it worked (about a week ago), but since installing the latest updates it doesn't. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Feisty: Incorrectly identifies hd as sd (eg hda1 - sda1) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106100 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 105898] langpack download slow, poor progress indication
Ian Jackson writes ([Bug 105898] langpack download slow, poor progress indication): I was installing in German using ubiquity from the i386 20070412 livecd. During final stages of the installation, it told me it was installing the language pack but this took an unreasonably long time with no change to the UI. I'm afraid I don't have a screenshot but if I remember correctly there was no subsidiary progress text. There was no indication of any progress at all. I'm now doing an install in French and I see Telechargement des pachets linguistiques (4:42 ...) with a clock counting down. This is good (although it makes a mockery of the progress bar) and I'm pretty sure not what I saw in my earlier German install. LP is working a lot better now. So if there's an LP query at the start of langpack setup then I think this bug was due to LP operational difficulties. If you want any information from the German install in question (eg, installer logs) please let me know because I'll probably wipe it soon ... [Bug 105386] Re: booting problem after upgrade
Still same. I now have kernel 2.6.20-14-generic. I tried to remove content from /etc /initramfs-tools/modules. And I really still have to call all the commands (loading modules, evms_start AND mounting the root directory - without it it returns me back to shell). I think the real problems is in the modules loading - the IDE driver is not loaded at all. [Bug 106103] Resume partition not configured by default
Public bug reported: A default install of Feisty does not automagically create a resume= parameter into the menu.lst file for Grub. This causes problems on hibernation, when the system hibernates but does not come back out of hibernation, rather it does a clean boot. Same here. This kernel version is completely busted about sata module ! :( I had a fully working system since feisty beta, and this morning, after I've done the daily upgrade, I was asked to reboot. And my system doesn't boot anymore. I am using feisty AMD64 on a K8M800 motherboard with an AMD Sempron 3100+ (K8 core). (Acer Aspire T135). After I have selected my partitioning arrangement (use whole disk) I get the Migrate Documents and Settings page. While this is looking for things to migrate, I see an icon labelled /var/lib/os-prober/mount briefly flash on my desktop (about twice). [Bug 105881] Re: acer_acpi [Needs packaging]
** Description changed: acer_acpi Hardware Control for Acer Laptops Version 0.4 released 2007-03-31 acer_acpi is a Linux kernel module to allow control of some of the hardware on later model Acer (and other Wistron OEM) laptops. acer_acpi was originally developed to enable the wireless LAN card of an Acer Aspire 5024 under 64-bit Linux. The previous solution to hardware access on these laptops, Olaf Tauber's acerhk, relied on BIOS calls to work - unfortunately, it is not possible to call a 32-bit BIOS routine from a 64 bit operating system, so acer_acpi was born. [Bug 50031] ec_intr=0 better off unused on R60 these days?
It seems to me that at least with my ThinkPad R60 and the newest Ubuntu Edgy kernel (2.6.17-11) I'm better off not using the ec_intr=0 parameter at all. Cause suspend to RAM seems to work with the default kernel parameters, but stops working with ec_intr=0. (I just figured this out, so I'll let you know if suspend to RAM starts turning evil on me again. But for now it seems to work repeatedly...) -- [regression] Suspend [to-RAM and to-disk] is broken in 2.6.15-25.43 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/50031 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

It seems to be permission related for both ntfs-3g and fat32. If you mount NTFS without the use of any of uid, gid, umask, fmask and dmask options, i.e. no permission checking is done at all, then probably download will work. Otherwise you must configure these options in a way that the relevant firefox user permissions match the preconfigured NTFS one, even if you use the 'silent' option.
