[Bug 111606] Re: Totem does (mostly) not display video output on external monitor

2007-05-18 Thread chris.simonsen
I had a problem similar to this and turned out to be a permissions
issue. Something to do with the external display. Try running Totem
with sudo and see if the problem goes away. Ex. # sudo totem
(filename).

[Bug 115263] Re: wine crashes with desktop effects

2007-05-18 Thread Stephan Hermann
Good Morning Xan,

first of all, I think you are using the packages from winehq, just because
feisty has only 0.9.33 in its repository.
Secondly, your problem is more likly to be solved upstream Please go to
http://www.winehq.org/ and file your bugreport in their bugzilla. They will ask
you more question to find out how to solve your problems.

Personally I think wine is not the best app to run under aixgl/xgl with
compiz/beryl enabled.

Rejecting this bug.

But thx for reporting,

ok confirming that beagled does not skip them too. In the search box
if you search for *.db you are getting results under the label
Documents

I don't really know if skipping those files is a good idea, but for
sure the great idea is to not try to parse them every time, and just
add the place where they are stored in the index.

where is the discussion upstream?

[Bug 115385] easier drag-and-drop

2007-05-18 Thread David Prieto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: youtranslate

Youtranslate is a great translating program, but there's a way that it
could become much faster to use -which I understand is the whole point
of the program-. When you select text from any source -web browser, text
processor... whatever- to the youtranslate text field, currently it gets
added to what you had previously written. Instead, it should REPLACE the
existing text and translate the new text automatically.

I'll give you an example: let's suppose I'm translating a Spanish piece
of text from a webpage. I have just translated casa and I want to
translate coche.

-I have to select the text, right-click it and copy it. then I have to
go to youtranslate, select the whole previous entry, right-click it and
paste, then press the translate button.

-With the proposed method, I'd just have to select the text and drag it
to the text field. Voilà, much simpler.

[Bug 115386] centrino duo sensors need a kernel patch

2007-05-18 Thread Jose Bernardo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20

On a core duo cpu, you can't access the cpu sensors using lm-sensors
with a kernel 2.6.22 unless you apply a kernel patch adding the
coretemp module.

http://www.debianhelp.org/node/5156 has the patch and how to apply it.
I've built a custom kernel, applied the patch, upgraded lm_sensors to
2.10.2, and now can access both cores temperature sensors directly.

[Bug 87462] Re: MASTER [apport] amarokcollectionscanner crashed with SIGSEGV in QPixmap::convertFromImage()

2007-05-18 Thread Ralf Folkerts
Happened to me on a NFS-Share. NFS seems somewhat buggy since the
Upgrade from 6.10 to 7.04; it won't always mount it's shares during
startup (i.e. it seems that e.g. when Filesystems require a fsck (the
one being required after n mounts) then NFS-Shares won't be mounted.
Have no idea how these actions are related, though).

[Bug 115388] Ubuntu 'do_release_upgrade doesn't work

2007-05-18 Thread zapodot
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager-core

I am trying to upgrade Ubuntu pn a firewalled server running Ubuntu
Edgy Server to Feisty with the do_release_upgrade command, but it
reports that no new version was found..

My guess is that it can have something to do with the firewall which the server
has to get through. To get apt-get working I'm need to use a http proxy server,
maybe do_release_upgrade need that to?
I have not found any way of specifying proxy settings for do_release_upgrade
(e.g no command line switch), shouldn't there be?

[Bug 115389] gnome-terminal on feisty crashes when giving wrong locale environment

2007-05-18 Thread Caspar Clemens Mierau
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

While playing around with gnome-terminal and locales on feisty I noticed
the following line prevents gnome-terminal from started and leads to a
core dump:

-
$ env LC_ALL=de_DE.UTF-8 CHARSET=de_DE.UTF-8 LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 gnome-terminal
--hide-menubar --geometry=104x32 --disable-factory

(gnome-terminal:6795): Vte-WARNING **: Zeichen konnten nicht von
de_DE.UTF-8 nach X-VTE-GUNICHAR konvertiert werden.

(gnome-terminal:6795): Vte-WARNING **: Zeichen konnten nicht von UTF-8 nach
de_DE.UTF-8 konvertiert werden.

My command might be wrong but it definitely should not lead to a core
dump. Maybe this is upstream.

[Bug 99858] Re: [nvidia-glx-new] Terminal will not successfully launch when SVideo is connected to TV

2007-05-18 Thread Sitsofe Wheeler
The more I think about it the more unsure I am of where to move this bug
to. I'm going to try gnome-terminal to see what they make of it (perhaps
its gnome-session related?) but I have speculatively changed the title
in case it needs to be marked against the binary drivers.

Setting back to unconfirmed.

hardyn:
Assuming your virtual terminals still work the following could be useful.
1. Switch to a virtual terminal by pressing ctrl-alt-f2. Log in to the terminal.
2. Type
ps auxw | grep '[X]11R6'
. This will show you which X servers your machine is running, Take note of the
first number after /usr/X11R6/bin/X (e.g. :0 )
3. Run the following:
DISPLAY=:0 strace -o ~/gnome-terminal-strace.txt gnome-terminal
Where :0 is the X display you wanted gnome-terminal to appear on. After ten
seconds press ctrl-c .

The above should make a file called gnome-terminal-strace.txt in your
home directory and might be useful for tracking down the problem.

[Bug 115327] Re: [apport] firefox-bin crashed with SIGSEGV in __kernel_vsyscall()

2007-05-18 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu \(hjmf\)
Thank you pjesi for submitting this report.

Could you please try to obtain a backtrace by following the instructions on
[1], or upload the crash report that probably was generated during the crash
and that should be located at /var/crash/ to [2].

Please indicate which extensions/plugins do you have enabled; and if this crash
is reproducible describe the steps that lead to it (it is very important for us
to have a test case for each crash).

This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

Thanks in advance.

Can you try with the new gs-gpl packages?

 Download all packages from

 http://www.linux-foundation.org/~till/tmp/ubuntu/gutsy/gs-gpl/binary/

 and do

 sudo dpkg -i *gs-esp*.deb *gs-gpl*.deb

to replace your ESP Ghostscript by the new GPL Ghostscript.
