[Bug 120121] Re: mplayer quits abruptly

2007-06-17 Thread William Grant
James: Does the same issue occur if you install mplayer 2:1.0~rc1-0ubuntu9,
rather than -0ubuntu9.1? The security update only touched CDDB code...
stacktracer: Are you sure the security update broke that? The changes were
minimal, released by upstream, and should only affect CDs.
Are either of you able to attach or link to a video that is now broken?

[Bug 120786] molly-guard fails to prevent shutdown with params

2007-06-17 Thread Aaron C. de Bruyn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: molly-guard

If you run 'shutdown' as root, mollyguard behaves appropriately.
If you run something like 'shutdown -h now' mollyguard shuts down the system

asking for the hostname first.

[Bug 120788] gnome-keyboard-properties does not handle 2 different keyboard models

2007-06-17 Thread Oliver Elphick
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

The gnome-keyboard-properties dialog allows me to define only 1 keyboard
model; instead the model ought to be specific to each layout.

I have an English keyboard (Logitech Internet Navigator Keyboard with
105 keys) and also a French one (AZERTY with 104 keys). I cannot
properly define the French one because I cannot select an appropriate
keyboard model for it without disrupting the definition of the English

[Bug 74069] Re: razer USB mouse isn't recognized after system startup

2007-06-17 Thread _simon_
After much experimentation and luck I have found that the mouse not
working on boot is due to something happening on shutdown.

If you shutdown or reboot from terminal with these commands:

Shutdown Command: sudo shutdown -h now
Reboot command: sudo shutdown -r now

Then for me at least, on boot the mouse always works.

Note: You MUST enter your password, if a previous sudo session is still
open then this will not work. It also does not work if you add yourself
and the shutdown command to sudoers. I have purposely reduced the sudo
session time to a minute to ensure that a previous session is not open
when I try and shutdown or reboot.

Hope the above will work for some other people until an official fix is
released.

[Bug 120789] dependency broken: can't install

if you try to install qgis and qgis-grass-plugin you can't do so because

[Bug 120790] poor interface of window for send-receive of evolution at Gutsy

2007-06-17 Thread sundol
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

This might be not a bug report but a suggestion for better interface.
This problem doesn't happen at Feisty, though.

I have 5 account at Evolution.
When I click on Send/Receive of evolution, a window pop up and it shows only
4 settings out of 6 settings(5 pop + 1 smtp).
To see the other 2 settings, I have to enlarge the windows or scroll it.
Evolution doesn't remember the enlarged windows so that I enlarge the windows
every time I click Send/Receive button.

At Feisty, Evolution showed 6 settings at the first window so I didn't have to
enlarge windows or scroll.
I don't know if evolution remember the enlarged windows or not.

Suggestion:
 Please,
1. let Evolution remember the enlarged windows as a default setting
  and/or
2. let Evolution show more than 4 account settings at the pop up window as a
default ( like Feisty)

[Bug 53102] Massive data loss

2007-06-17 Thread Tero Karvinen
I had massive corruption on a new drive.

My new IDE ext3 drive had some problems, now it can't be mounted and
fsck fails.

Drive was new, less than one month in use. I had Feisty that was just
installed. Drive was using ext3. Currently, file rescue is a priority,
but after that I might have more details.

Similar bugs:
Bug #65815 Ext3 corruption on a drive
Bug #53102 ext3 partitions are getting corrupt more often than they should
[this one]
Bug #66032 fsck.ext3: Unable to resolve
Bug #118256 ext3 data corruption with kernel 2.6.20-16-generic

A bug can't get more serious than massive data loss. Because of the
corruptive nature, also backups may be affected. I find it interesting
that this confirmed bug is one year old, but its importance is
undecided.

I hope that somehow, there is a non-OS explanation to this bug...

[Bug 120792] lvcreate fails with mirror raid1

2007-06-17 Thread xomix
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: lvm2

This happens with Feisty. I think it's an lvm2 problem, but it may be related
to the dm-mirror.ko module...
Versions:
linux-image-2.6.20-16-386
lvm-common1.5.20ubuntu12
lvm2 2.02.06-2ubuntu9
libdevmapper1.021.02.08-1ubuntu10
Problem:
Having enough space to do so, lvcreate fails to create a mirrored (raid 1) lv,
stating that there's not enogh space. Module dm-mirror is loaded.

Ric95:
I suspect your best bet is to talk to NVIDIA directly about this (e.g. via

any problem they will ask you to install the latest drivers from their website.
Instructions for doing so on Ubuntu can be found on
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NvidiaManual (and
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=72490 ) although doing so this
certain caveats and will change the areas you can go for support with any

[Bug 120772] Re: Order of icons is forgotten on reboot

2007-06-17 Thread Áron Sisak
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately we can't
fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. You
may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the
problem.

I use Gnome Panel for years and nothing ever happened to me like this.
Please try to attach screenshots or give some hints how this could be
reproduced.

[Bug 120797] Error when copying some files from an ext3 partition to fat32 using konqueror

2007-06-17 Thread Vivien Taillandier
Public bug reported:

Here is a sumup of the bug.

My home folder is located on an ext3 partition, and the partition where
I try to copy the files is fat32.

When I try to copy this folder :
/home/vivien/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail/.inbox.directory/.My
friends.directory/N.Fréd/cur
I get an error message telling me that writing on the partition is impossible
with the name of the file.

To be able to copy this folder, I create an archive, I copy it on my
fat32 partition and decompress it.

I had the same bug with folders containing subfolders and files with
special characters, without any hidden files or folders.

Test made on Kubuntu Feisty

[Bug 115152] Re: Sooperlooper segfaults when launched from slgui

slgui output with jack running, but no engine running yet:

/home/roger/.sooperlooper/default_midi.slb'

slgui: spawned new engine
slgui: gave up on spawned engine

Only part of GUI is rendered at the spawned new engine point and after a
short delay, the gave up line appears with a GUI message box: No response
from sooperlooper engine process. Please make sure the JACK server is running.
Also check that the system's hostname resolves correctly

The slgui output is the same with a sooperlooper engine running already,
but I think this is because slgui crashes the existing one before trying
to start a new one and crashing that one too.

Output of gdb slgui has one extra line of interest;
(gdb) run

slgui: spawned new engine
OSC thread poll failed: Interrupted system call
slgui: gave up on spawned engine

I couldn't turn up any clues about that extra line, it seems to be an
effect of the engine segfault rather than a cause.

[Bug 120800] at76c503a causes system freeze

2007-06-17 Thread NickeM
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: atmel-firmware

I have a Atmel usb wlan adapter:
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 069a:0321 Askey Computer Corp. Dynalink WLL013 / Compex
WLU11A 802.11b Adapter
which is using the http://at76c503a.berlios.de/ driver.

Which has worked well until i upgraded to Feisty Fawn, i am currently on Gutsy
Gibbon. The problems have been that the
system freezes when i have been running a cpu intesive program such as a batch
job or a open gl game, nexuiz.

I notice something is wrong when the system halts for a 1 second... there could
be a couple of halts, then the machine recovers but
after another minute...the system halts completely.

My suspicion is that the at76c503a seems to disconnect during high processor
load and reconnected. The result of
a couple of reconnects -- system lock.

If i run the same programs and batch job with a regular network cable attached
and the usb adapter unplugged, it all runs smoothly, so
i think it is a driver problem.

has to use 24x24 icons. Now if you use the Human GTK theme with
Clearlooks which has 22x22 icons you get a broken combinaison. Closing
the bug, that's not one, you have to use matching themes. You can add
gtk-icon-sizes = panel-menu=24x24 to your .gtkrc also as a hack if
you want to use Clearlooks GTK with Human icon

[Bug 120728] Re: Evolution doesn't remember online/offline mode in Feisty

2007-06-17 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug. That doesn't look like a duplicate, you manage
your network using network-manager. Not sure that's a bug, using the
corresponding plugin you make evolution react to the network changes, if
you don't want this behaviour maybe you should just not use the option
then?
