Sorry, I missed the need to answer. No, the issue went away. It was not
because of composite, because I have to use the fglrx drivers which do
not support it. (I have to because my graphics card, ATi Radeon X1300 is
not supported by the free ati driver. (And yes, I forgot to mention

Thank you, this is very helpful. However, after you run "mount /mnt/E"
can you run just "mount" (no other options)? That will tell me how Linux
is viewing the filesystem. This is especially important since what you
just pasted tells us that it disagrees with the fstab.

into have been fixed, I had to make my own to test. Again, it's not a serious

I am facing a similar problem.
I've mounted a "Windows share" folder from one of the computer in my
network using "Connect to Server" function, and unmounted it after I
finish using the folder. Since then my it takes very long for the system
startup due to Nautilus. It also takes much longer time
Neither fix to the config files works for me on 7.04
Meanwhile, I can use putty to connect from Windows.
The host is a RedHat linux server.
Debian testing has the same problem.

I am seeing this too. The tooltip for subsequent pulldown selections
displays at the location of the first tooltip you evoke. I tried the
option Nicolo suggested and it works as he says.

Three users are logged into three session (first via kdm directly,
others via K-Menu/Switch Session/Start New Session).
If I plug in a usb drive, it gets mounted with what seems to be
randomly-chosen user ownership (one of the three lgged-in users).
