[Bug 137676] Re: Openoffice (impress) crashes after changing slide design
Hi, Thanks you for the bug report! Could you give us extra information to help us pinpoint the bug : - What version of ubuntu are you using? - What version of openoffice.org-impress are you using (as seen in the synaptic package manager)? I can reproduce and confirm the bug in ubuntu 7.04 on version 2.2.0-1ubuntu4 following the steps above (using a new presentation file) ** Changed in: openoffice.org (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- Openoffice (impress) crashes after changing slide design https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/137676 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 137683] [PATCH] xorgconfig.py crashes on disable in Modules section
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kde-guidance In xorg-server 1.3, X has the smarts to auto-load a number of common modules. Unfortunately, on rare occasions one of these automatically loaded modules causes problems, or the user wishes to run without it for whatever reason. Xorg provides the disable module keyword for such cases, which does the opposite of load module. Currently guidance-backends crashes if the disable keyword is present in the user's xorg.conf. For instance, when running displayconfig-gtk, this error occurs: ~# displayconfig-gtk Traceback (most recent call last): File /usr/bin/displayconfig-gtk, line 66, in module app = DisplayConfig(options) File /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/displayconfiggtk/DisplayConfig.py, line 179, in __init__ debug_scan_pci_filename=self.options.pcitable) File /var/lib/python-support/python2.5/displayconfigabstraction.py, line 77, in __init__ self.xorg_config = xorgconfig.readConfig(xorg_config_filename) File /var/lib/python-support/python2.5/xorgconfig.py, line 662, in readConfig raise ParseException,Unknown line type '%s' on line %i % (first, line) xorgconfig.ParseException: Unknown line type 'disable' on line 33 ** Affects: kde-guidance (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [PATCH] xorgconfig.py crashes on disable in Modules section https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/137683 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 137683] Re: [PATCH] xorgconfig.py crashes on disable in Modules section
The specific use case where this is needed is for Ubuntu's Bulletproof-X, in which I need to forcibly disable DRI and other modules that can cause trouble when running in failsafe mode. Anyway, here is a patch to stop guidance from crashing if the disable keyword is present. It would be nice if guidance did something more clever with this keyword, but for the bulletproof-x case that's unnecessary, for now we just need it to not crash when the keyword is present. ** Attachment added: Adds support for recognizing disable section http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9144905/disable.patch -- [PATCH] xorgconfig.py crashes on disable in Modules section https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/137683 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 135228] Re: GNOME session freezes to black screen, Failsafe GNOME session works fine
Hmm, ok. I did not know how to provide debugging information for this bug because the crash happens when I log in. I have used GDB in the past to provide backtraces, but AFAIK there is no way to start GDB or something like that to get a backtrace before I log in, or is there? I've read the information on the wiki for debugging procedures - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures - the document which describes my situation most closely there is probably - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSystemCrash - but that only deals with reproducing crashes on a text console, which is probably not what I need to do if my crash happens when I log in to GNOME. To be honestly I don't know how to provide the correct debugging information then, there is no info on the Ubuntu wiki either. Hi! That's a GNOME bug: the one-part GNOME menue uses the three-part menue (apps, system, places) and its style options. It's unlikely to be fixed as a new GNOME menue is in work and will probably be released with GNOME 2.22. But if someone wants to hack in, a fix for 2.20.1 would be possible. [Bug 136962] Re: Session file left after uninstall breaks X
Here's an updated debdiff: Review points: 1) postinst now checks for the existence of $unud, and does nothing if it doesn't exist. It didn't seem important enough to add a dependency on update-notifier | adept-notifier 2) $unud is actually defined in postinst (stupid ctrl-k!) 3) It seems the consensus of #ubuntu-motu is that the notifications should be for high-priority notifications only. 4) Although it's possible someone will want to call Xgl-session themselves, it's unlikely. It's been moved to /usr/share/xserver-xgl, as suggested. ** Attachment added: Revised debdiff http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9130460/xgl.debdiff -- Session file left after uninstall breaks X https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136962 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Additionally, the debdiff adds -nolisten tcp and +xinerama to the xgl options: The first because Xgl listens on TCP by default, and we don't want that, the second because it should allow people to use the Xinerama hints for multi-head, and it doesn't break anything on single-head configurations. -- Session file left after uninstall breaks X https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136962 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 55739] Re: No more mouse events
I have this too. I am using kubuntu feisty with KDE. But I am not using focus follows pointer, and there is another twist. This has just happened, and keeps happening 3-5 secs after plugging in my usb-wireless mouse. Disconnecting the mouse has my touchpad working normally, after plugging in the mouse both mouse and touchpad start exhibiting the behaviour described above. [Bug 3731] Re: Xorg resolution falling back to 640x480 and/or 800x600 when h/v freqs incorrect
I don't know if this information helps, but I have to tell ;) When I connect my beamer to my laptop with a long (5m) vga-cable, the desktop and beamer resolution is set to 800x600 and I don't get the resolution higher. Hi, This is fixed in edgy and feisty. [Bug 55739] Re: No more mouse events
Quick addition - I just noticed that after plugging in the mouse, it still works normally _but only within the original area_.
