Those were successful.

the last kernel update rewrote the menu.lst file. what are the rules which uuid
is used for the new entry?
i had entries with two different uuid in it (pointing to two different
partitions one with 704 and with 710) - it did take the wrong one (704
partition) for the new 710 kernel!

I have same chipset webcam too. It does'nt work.There is two modules in
Ubuntu for that webcam.And they conflicts.Temp solution is sudo modprobe
-r zc0301 and sudo modprobe -r gspca.Then load gspca again:sudo modprobe

It seems to me a gtk bug too. I have this bug with version 0.4, too, not
only from page 16. To test, open a new document, scroll down the page a
bit, and then try to write something (even using the mouse). This is
really a showstopper for tablet pcs on ubuntu, I think it should be
considered high
Move/Create (an empty) .pam_environment in a directory that is readable without
any AFS tokens, and then create a link to it in you home directory.
That is common practice for files needed to be read before you have any tokens.

This machine was dist-upgraded from dapper - edgy - feisty...
everything worked fine in edgy AFAIK... I never reboot the server unless
I do a kernel update, which I avoid because I need to recompile IVTV
modules and all of that crap for my mythbackend.
